tip: everything changed when we connected Replit to our google workspace (it changed how we build products)

context: we launch news monthly. feedback pouring in through google forms, sheets, docs. the usual chaos.

traditional approach would be:
→ export everything
→ manual categorization
→ long meetings debating priorities
→ specs for developers
→ wait weeks for prototypes

what we did instead:
logged into replit, connected our google workspace (one click, no api keys), and gave their agent this prompt in plain english:

"pull all user feedback from our google drive, identify the top requested features, create working prototypes for each, and rank them by user impact"

the agent analyzed the feedback + built actual working prototypes.

here's what the agent created:
→ testable prototypes for top 3 features

the prototypes aren't perfect. but they're real. users can try them. we can iterate based on actual usage, not assumptions.

i was chatting with a cto last week (intake call for ai program) and he asked me something that kind of stuck with me. "why is everyone doing ai so differently?" and honestly, after working with maybe 30+ companies on their ai stuff these last 2 yrs, i realized there's basically four ways people are approaching this whole thing. 

and the companies that mess up? 

they're usually trying to do two at once.

here are 4 approached:

→ the spread-it-everywhere approach
this is where you just give everyone ai tools and hope for the best. saw unilever do this actually - they've got ai running in everything from ice cream flavor prediction to supply chain optimization. pretty wild. but they had this whole central team managing it, which is the part most companies forget.

→ the bet-the-farm approach
you know how Volkswagen's going all-in on their autonomous driving platform? that's this. pick one massive ai thing and throw everything at it. i watched a fintech company burn through €15m trying to build an ai financial advisor. (spoiler: they switched strategies)

→ the sneak-it-in approach
my favorite honestly. you just make your product better with ai but never mention it's ai. like how Spotify just knows what song you want to hear next. nobody calls their Discover Weekly "ai" but that's exactly what it is.

→ the show-me-the-money approach
only do ai if you can prove roi in like 3 months. Zalando does this... they'll add ai sizing recommendations because it immediately drops return rates. nothing fancy, just practical stuff that works.

and here's where it gets messy...
i keep seeing companies say they want the volkswagen moonshot thing, but then they freak out when there's no roi after 6 months. or they'll hire some fancy ai team to "transform everything" but then only let them work on tiny projects with guaranteed returns.

worst one i heard of? this company tried to do the spread-it-everywhere thing without anyone actually in charge of it. just bought chatgpt licenses for everyone and called it their "ai strategy." yeah, that went about as well as you'd expect.

the companies that actually make this work? they pick one approach and stick with it. even when it's uncomfortable.

but yeah, moral of the story: pick your ai game before you start playing it. mixing strategies is basically just burning money with extra steps.

so i saw this chart about coding agents the other day and honestly, the whole category is shrinking.

like, look at the 12-week trends. cursor down 18%, replit down 18%, bolt down 31%. even the shiny new base44 that everyone was hyped about - started at 950% growth and now it's at 95%. that's quite the drop.

the traffic share chart shows it: six months ago everyone was trying these tools. now? that total category traffic is down 15% in just the last two weeks.
seems like the pattern is: developer tries it, pays for a month, realizes it's not actually faster for anything beyond toy projects, churns.

and here's what i think is happening (we already knew this...) = these tools are basically great at making demos. you know, the kind of stuff you show in a twitter video. "look, i built spotify in 47 seconds!"

but when you actually try to use them for real work? different story.

funny thing is, we saw this coming from day one. our team's been doing what you could call "vibe coding" for a while now, but we realized early on you need stable scaffolding underneath. you can't just yolo your way through complex systems.

that's actually why we built www.builderbox.ai . we figured out that ai is great at certain things: generating components, suggesting patterns, writing boilerplate.... but it needs structure. proper architecture. guardrails.

just watch anyone try to build something actually complex with one of these pure ai tools. not a demo, but a real system with auth, proper error handling, the works. it's painful. the ai keeps suggesting patterns that looked right but would break at scale. fixing its mistakes took longer than just writing it yourself.

anyway, i'm not saying ai coding tools are useless. but maybe the answer isn't "ai does everything" it's "ai plus proper engineering structure." that's what actually ships.

and we've all been saying/knowing this for a while now right?

so i saw this graphite chart yesterday showing that ai now writes more articles than humans do. we crossed over around may 2025 = basically 52% ai-generated now. here's the thing though...

everyone's freaking out about "model collapse" and ai training on its own outputs. but like, we were already doing this. 

how many human-written articles were just rewording the same press release anyway???

(fun fact: i can usually spot ai content because it's actually more original than the seo farms that used to dominate search results)

you know what's actually changing? the economics. used to cost us maybe $200 for a decent article. now it's basically free to generate like with programmatic seo, (in some cases maybe $50 to have someone clean it up).

and yeah, there's a quality question. but let's be honest... most corporate blog content was already pretty mid. at least now it's consistently mid instead of occasionally terrible.

anyway, this whole "dead internet" thing people keep talking about... i mean, the internet was already full of garbage. now it's just different garbage.

the real shift is that writing itself is becoming less valuable unless you're doing something machines genuinely can't = like having actual opinions based on real experiences.

which is probably why everyone's suddenly so interested in "authenticity" again.

for years, voice tools couldn’t handle jobsite noise, and Procore didn’t allow deep integration. but now, that’s changed. procore’s api is finally open. whisper and other ai transcription tools can pick voices out of drills and generators with near-human accuracy. on-device ai means it all works offline. and crews are already using voice messages daily = it’s second nature.

this is the moment to connect it all.

imagine a foreman finishing a conversation, tapping record, saying: “need to fix cracked concrete on level 2, assign to Miguel, due tomorrow,” and that task just appears in Procore... with a photo, due date, and assignee. no typing, no follow-up, no missed actions.

the shift is happening now. construction is digitizing fast. companies are tracking time, safety, and quality digitally, but updates are still manual. turning voice into structured tasks bridges that last gap.

build a mobile app that captures 30-second voice notes, transcribes them instantly, attaches photos, and syncs tasks to Procore. offline first. noise filtered. one-tap record. dashboard for admins.

charge $29 per user per month or $199 per site. 300 paying sites hits break-even. with 5:1 ltv-to-cac and 7-month payback, the numbers work.

no one owns this space. procore’s native voice notes stop short of task creation. competitors like NoteVault focus on reporting, not action. whoever builds the first true “speak it and it’s done” layer for Procore will define how field teams work for the next decade.

starting 2025, every EU freelancer and small business must comply with ViDA e-invoicing rules. 

invoices that miss a single field or VAT check can get rejected or delay payments. until now, only big-enterprise software handled compliance, and it’s complex, slow, and expensive. but the law hits everyone... and millions of SMEs have no simple way to check if their invoices are valid.

for years, e-invoicing was optional. now it’s mandatory.
