LinkedIn is a platform I love,

it works for me because I apply discipline to it.

Here's what gets done every day:

𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: Same time every day, no matter what. I haven't missed since starting over a year ago.

𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀: for 15 minutes prior to my post going live until 15 minutes after I'm commenting on my friends' posts. I've built solid relationships with about 40 people who I support their content, and they support mine.

𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀: In the first 15 minutes after posting I reply to every comment, then about 2 more times before signing off for the day. I reply to 100% of comments as often as possible.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲: I sent 40-50 connection requests per day with a personalized invitation, 5 days a week.

𝗗𝗠 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: I send a thank you to new connections, telling them briefly what I do and what I write about.

𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗺𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀: I've built solid relationships with some amazing creators. Every day I engage with them I learn something, so I get 1% better at this game every day.

𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁: I write in 1 hour blocks and can usually do a week's worth of writing in 2 hours - I currently repurpose 4 posts per week and create 3 new per week.

𝗦𝗵𝘂𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻: To ensure I don't overuse the app, or fill time mindlessly scrolling - I delete the app from my phone each day before 12pm. Then I download it the next morning when I start the above process.

All this takes an average of an hour a day.

I'm a decent content creator don't you think?

I started from scratch just over a year ago - with commitment and daily discipline, anyone can do this.

TRACTION is a great book but has a major flaw.
 
It reads like a how-to guide,
 
but is actually just an introduction.
 
When Gino Wickman wrote the book in 2007 he had a clear intent:
 
• Introduce the system to business owners
• Build the EOS brand
• Create a sales funnel for his certified coaches
 
The book has now sold 2MM+ copies.
 
Hundreds of thousands of companies use EOS.
 
Gino designed EOS to be implemented over 2 years with a coach - including 10 full-day leadership sessions.
 
Many companies try to DIY it to save money.
 
Some succeed. Most don't.
 
Not because the tools are bad.
 
But because simple ≠ easy.
 
The reality is while the tools are extremely simple there's a tremendous amount of depth to them, and successful implementation requires a few key things:
 
1. Full buy-in and commitment from the full leadership team
2. Deep understanding of the tools and concepts and how to use them
3. Strong facilitation skills to lead teams through each session
4. Clear understanding of which tools to use for different situations
5. A clear roadmap for rolling out the tools to the rest of the organization
 
As one of Gino's many certified coaches who has dedicated his career to helping teams implement his system it's a deep desire of mine to help anyone who wants to do it properly.

What’s the worst that can happen?

That’s a great exercise to explore whenever you’re considering a new business, line of business, or major venture.

I've used this exercise for all the ventures I've launched.

Here's an example:

Say you're considering opening a retail business that needs landlord improvements, requiring a 10 year lease with a personal guarantee.

The worst case - your business fails and you owe the balance of the full-term of the lease - forcing you into bankruptcy.

Can you accept this risk?

To answer this question you should understand what happens when you declare bankruptcy.

If after learning how it works you realize you can handle that risk - you can enter the lease without fear of the worst case scenario and work tirelessly to meet your goals.

If you can't handle this risk - you may want to find an alternative to finance the lease, or back out of the business opportunity entirely.

Regardless of the outcome - going through this exercise allows enter a big decision with both eyes open, and often alleviates the fear of taking the leap.
