It's been about 30 years since I've seen my face in a newspaper, so when I got an opportunity to go in the New Year Business guide that rolled out with The Telegraph last week, I jumped at the chance!

Pulling an article together for this was harder than I thought. Trying to get everything I want to say in just a few paragraphs was a real challenge, as everyone knows once I start talking about email deliverability, there's little that will stop me!

I love the process of putting this together and it got me thinking again about other content I produce, the message I put out, and delivering that in a way that's meaningful to any business.

I've had a great response to the article, and a few meetings lined up with businesses that want to learn more.

Here’s the thing recruiters are about to learn the hard way in 2026.
They have the perfect setup but you still slowly disappear from the inbox.

The last two years, everyone obsessed over the basics. Authentication. Spam complaints. Staying compliant. Good. That work mattered.

But in 2026, that just means you’re allowed to send. It doesn’t mean anyone wants to hear from you. 𝗜𝗻𝗯𝗼𝘅 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱. Not before it.

Replies. Clicks. Forwards.  Something… anything… that proves a human cared.

𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗿𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻.

And recruitment feels this first, because email is still a major part of the engine. More senders. More automation. More noise. Same old batch-and-blast? That’s how you get filtered out.

I’ve pulled what we’re seeing into a simple mandate for recruiters this year:
 – Why opens finally stopped meaning much
 – Why generic outreach is now a liability
 – Why replies beat clever CTAs every time
 – And why burning domains isn’t “growth”, it’s panic

No bullshit. No smoke and mirrors. Just how inboxes actually work now.
If 2025 was about fixing the foundations, 2026 is about earning attention.

The agencies who are getting this already won’t brag about it. 
They’re just placing more people. 💰 💰 💰
