I’m not big on New Year’s resolutions. I have goals for 2026, but I’m not issuing myself big ultimatums this week. In fact, I’m taking a week’s vacation, so I will go radio silent on professional socials tomorrow.

What I do like, though, is a good word for the year. 

As I reflected on 2025, one thing I noted was that I got away from the details of too many things. I always know what I need to do, but I’m not great at always doing it. But I’m always thinking about my goals and whether I will hit them. (Some I did, some I didn’t.)

Over the holidays, I heard a great Nick Saban quote to the effect of: "Don’t focus on outcomes; focus on process." The details matter. Execution matters.

So, my word for 2026 is “Discipline.”

Doing the things that need to be done. Executing the processes that lead to my and my client’s success.

This morning, alongside ISI students, families, faculty, staff, and community supporters, we publicly launched the third capital campaign in the International School of Indiana's 31-year history: ONE Future. This $14 million campaign is a transformative effort that celebrates our school's remarkable journey and charts a bold course for its future. 

In addition to sharing our exciting plans for the future, we also announced that, in partnership with the campaign co-chairs, we've raised $12.1 million of the $14 million goal during the silent phase!

Speciaizing in intercompany & affiliate transfer accounting, reporting, & analysis:

Senior Specialist, Legacy AT&T Parent Company (January 2005 to September 2007). 
Primarily responsible for preparing results analysis reports for Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement to transmit to Corporate Consolidations Group during each bookclose cycle on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Results analysis reports include schedules that become part of the 10-Q and 10-K filing with the SEC for AT&T as well as monthly variance schedules for balance sheet and income statement accounts from Hyperion and Oracle financial application systems.
Leadership roles in: 
 Processing of journal entries and reconciliation of entries in conjunction with spin-off of AT&T Broadband unit in November 2002, resulting in net gain on disposal of $33.0 billion;
 Provided schedules and reconciliations to external auditors on quarterly basis; specifically, the audit teams that reviewed employee benefit-related balance sheet accounts and Legacy AT&T Parent Company’s financial statements in total; and, 
 Processing of journal entries and reconciliation of entries in conjunction with merger of AT&T into SBC Communications (immediately rebranded as "at&t") for the period of November 2005 through August 2006.

Lead Accountant, Domestic Corp

Penguin Group USA

Processed journal entries, month-end account reconciliations and analyses.  Prepared month-end reports of days sales outstanding, key performance indicators, and cash balancing.  Investigated open balances on accounts for reclass entries and corrections in both general ledger and accounts receivable subledger.
Worked with Director of Accounts Receivable on validation of custom-designed Access database (a.k.a. CCMS), designing of new refund processing and verification procedures, and updating subledger transaction processing.

Cash & Financial Reporting Manager

Medic One

Maintained cash management models and banking relationships.  Processed month closing, consolidating spreadsheets and eliminations; and processed submissions to primary financial institution.  Performed quarterly updates of depreciation, amortization, long-term payables, current payables, and insurance expense by location for adjustments and preliminary balance sheet reconciliations in anticipation of year-end audit.  Prepared final balance sheet account reconciliations with backup documentation and additional information as needed for external auditors at year-end.
Additional projects undertaken: reorganized permanent files to centralized location (i.e. – leases, notes payable, cancelled checks, and prior fiscal year workpapers); revised and unified the chart of accounts for 13 general ledgers; and updated bank usage (i.e. – file new signature cards, close inactive accounts, consolidate credit card processing).

Performed all accounting functions for A/R, A/P, and G/L and maintained all records, including preparation of year- and month-end financial statements, processing and issuing payment on payables, analyzing and collecting receivables, preparing and recording payroll.  Advised President on financial matters (i.e. – financing proposals, monthly and annual financial statement analysis).
