This is my best performing post on the internet.

It has the best numbers by a mile.

1000s of likes.
100s of shares.

But it means a lot more than that.

It's a clip of me doing stand up comedy at the Comedy Store in London.

My 3rd ever stand up gig.

I was in my element.

My agent was in the audience.
But he wasn't my agent at the time.

He later told me my performance was a big reason he wanted me to sign for his talent agency.

A 6 minute set about how funny it is to me how people speak on LinkedIn.

I think people try and dissect what works and what doesn't about posting online.

To me the best policy is to 

1. Put yourself out there
2. Show yourself putting yourself out there
3. Show people what you can do (not tell them)

I'm so glad I stepped up to do that comedy gig earlier this year.

And I'm glad I posted this clip online.

It's been a big door opener for me.

And set me on a new path in life and business.

I'm a serial non-photo taker at in-person events.

I like to think it's because I'm so engrossed.

(But I might just be lazy)

I'm also a new parent so want to make the most of being out of the house if I am going to be away from my beloved bundle of joy.

I took my 11-week-old daughter to watch stand up comedy.

She didn't laugh once.

In fact she slept through the whole thing.

Typical.

You take her out for the day and she takes no interest at all.

Seriously though.

Just wanted to give a shoutout to Bring Your Own Baby Comedy and Carly Smallman .

They basically run stand up comedy events for parents and children.

Not your typical stand up comedy audience.

It was me and my partner and daughter.
Dozens of other mothers and babies.
And a handful of fathers too.

It's important to have events to go to with your baby and not feel like you're missing out on your old life.

This event hits the spot.

As a parent and father.
But as a comedian myself too.

Can't wait for the next one.

I'll leave you with a dad joke.

My baby just ate a bunch of Scrabble tiles.

The next nappy could spell disaster.

I'll see myself out.

I want to be the best role model I can for my daughter.

And show her someone who takes responsibility for their own happiness.

And be the engineer of their own destiny.

I'd like that for her too.

I know I can't force her.
But that is what I'd like her to feel too.

I've always been a curious and explorative person who is so open to adventure.
(And feel time to be an extremely finite resource)

That continues to grow in me as I age.

I don't see myself as a winner.
I see myself as a trier.

I think they are some of my best qualities and are the qualities I want to share with her.

Going after things.
Marvelling at things.

And most importantly.

Not feel like life is just the passing of time.
And squeeze as much juice out of the fruit as possible.

Every day I wake up and think.

Make sure you show her that: 

I’m enjoying life.
I’ve worked hard to pursue what I love.
I’m modelling a life that satisfies me.

I mean my daughter is 11 weeks old.

I do talk to her about these things but she doesn't say much back.

I'm hoping it's going in.

Time will tell.
