(Here's the email that proves it)

I got an email from Rhode by Hailey Bieber and it's a masterclass in what NOT to do.

Here's what's wrong:

The logo takes up half the screen, pushing content way below the fold. The hero image is massive but has no CTA button. The copy is hard to read. Then there's this messy grid that looks like a chaotic Instagram feed.

It's visually confusing and kills conversions.

So we redesigned it.

Our version:

→ Smaller logo (people know who you are)

→ Text on hero image with a clear CTA

→ Clean grid section that actually makes sense

→ Big, obvious CTA at the bottom

This isn't about being mean to Rhode. It's about the fact that even massive brands with huge budgets get email design completely wrong.

And if they're losing money on bad emails, smaller brands definitely are.

Most people overthink subject lines.

They spend 20 minutes crafting the perfect clever line that nobody opens.

Here's what actually works:

Hack #1: ALL CAPS subject lines

Sounds aggressive, right? But the data doesn't lie.

We ran a quick test on a welcome email for one of our clients.

Original subject line: 65.6% open rate

ALL CAPS version: 71.49% open rate

Same email. Same audience. Just uppercase letters.

The winning variation did $22,174 in revenue.

Hack #2: Use prefixes

RE:, JUST IN:, INSIDE:, FYI:

These work because they hijack pattern recognition in the inbox.

One client tested an ALL CAPS prefix vs lowercase:
↳ ALL CAPS PREFIX: 51.85% open rate
↳ lowercase prefix: 48% open rate

Another client saw even crazier results:

I started Selfmastered in a garage in Spain in the fall of 2019.

No investors or co-founders.

No marketing or sales background.

For four years, the people closest to me said the same thing:

"Why would you spend so much on courses? Don’t they all say the same thing?”

"Dude, you could have put down payments on two properties in Madrid with that money wtf are you doing?"

All well-meaning.

Most tactically right (maybe 4-5 of the 12 or so programs were genuinely worth it)

-Doing outreach to strangers
-Selling on the phone
-Leading your team every day

The human brain didn't evolve for modern discomfort.

It tags most friction as a threat.

So unless you rewire that bias, you'll unconsciously build a life that avoids it.

One client spent a month rebuilding outreach systems to reduce rejection.

He wasn't trying to get better at sales. He was trying to feel safer.

Which is completely human. But expensive.

Because the moment your threat response starts running the company, your calendar fills with low-risk motion… and your pipeline slows down.

Elite operators aren't superhuman.

They typically don’t work harder, have higher IQs, or better “luck” than average founders.

They've just wired a different default:
-Working on the high-leverage tasks = non-negotiable
-Friction = information, not danger
-Uncertainty = part of the job, not a personal flaw

Rewiring that threat response is what makes you consistent.

And consistency is what makes results compound.

Once my client stopped letting rejection define him, he became relentless: reaching out to 30 strangers every day, no matter what, and iterating on his messaging weekly until calls started piling up.

6 months later, his revenue had 3Xed and he had just delegated outreach to a team member.

Same positioning. Same marketing channel. Same everything… except the volume and speed of iteration.

The dirty little secret of elite operators is that they just don’t suffer through their work.

They’ve rewired themselves to have a blast doing the hardest things that guarantee they can't fail.

That's the whole game, honestly.

Most founders I work with can spot themselves in at least 7 of these.

Not because they're lazy. Not because they don't care.

Because knowing what to do and being able to consistently do it are two completely different skills.

One is information. 

The other is training.

You've probably spent years on the information side. 

Courses, books, coaches, strategies.

But your execution capacity, your ability to sit down, do the hard thing, and repeat it without resistance, that's never been trained.

That's the actual bottleneck.

And once you fix it, everything else you already know starts working.

Founders are told to optimize in the wrong order.

They start with goal-setting frameworks.

Then build elaborate productivity systems, such as Notion dashboards. Time-blocking. App stacks.

And when the next crisis hits (a key employee quits, a deal falls through, your biggest client churns), it all collapses

Goals are necessary, but require clarity, which you don’t always have.

Systems are crucial, but still require activation energy.

Goals and systems are insufficient if they don’t lead to upgrading your wiring.

But your wiring runs automatically.

It's how your brain operates without conscious effort.

A founder who defaults to deep work at 8 am doesn’t “decide” to focus.

They sit down and automatically focus deeply.
