Which to the knobhead police seems to mean:
don’t laugh, don’t overshare, don’t be messy, don’t be a person…….just be exactly what’s needed to be palatable and acceptable to others. 

Meanwhile this is me…..outside somewhere, mid-snort laugh, trying not to pee myself, probably telling a story I shouldn’t, over sharing to anyone who will listen, glasses sliding off my face, zero thoughts about “professional presence”…..and I don’t even drink 😬 

But yet this is exactly how I exist in real life.

I don’t suddenly become a beige suited narrator because I opened a different app or because John, Phil and Janet think this isn’t the place for this type of content 🙄 

The most bat shit crazy thing is, everyone says they want “authentic people”…..right up until someone is.
You all want to work with the best, but when the best are too much, you shit your pants. 

Then it’s:
“wrong platform”
“keep it business”
“this isn’t Facebook”
“that’s offensive” 🤢 

No……it’s just the only platform where people panic when they realise there’s an actual human attached to the job title or business. 

I’m not interested in performing a personality for show. 

You get the same person everywhere; sometimes insightful, sometimes sarcastic, sometimes having a bad day, quite frequently having a meltdown but ALWAYS the best in the business, ALWAYS putting clients first and ALWAYS going above and beyond.

I’m the best. I work with the best. I swear, laugh, joke, problem solve and get results with the best.

And still has time to “be present”…..I’m sure with their dick in their hand given the amount of shite they chat. 

Bore off 🥱 

Meanwhile the rest of us wake up at 7:42, neck a coffee, embrace family chaos whilst eating cold toast and check our morning messages that include some random wanting a chat to “just quickly pick your brain” and somewhere in between we try to exercise, stay sane and maintain a social life. 

Oddly enough, my income goals have never once conditioned their growth based on what time I woke up, how I planned my day or what life threw at me…..

They have, however, demonstrated whether people understood why they needed me and how good I was at explaining that they do. 

Turns out buyers don’t care about your morning routine.
They care about their problem ending.

Wild.

If I thought this person was a twat, I’d have no issue sharing their name online.
But in this case, I think this is a misguided attempt at cold messaging gone so horribly wrong it edges into reputational damage.

❌ When you message someone at any stage of your relationship with……
“I’m helping high-achieving women actually keep weight off long term…”

You are not “creating opportunity.”
You are implying deficiency.

And that PISSES PEOPLE OFF 👏🏼 

You are diagnosing a problem that hasn’t been disclosed.
You are assigning insecurity.
You are framing your offer around an assumed flaw.

That isn’t clever positioning.
That’s shame marketing.

And shame marketing is lazy AF.

It relies on:
🤮 highlighting a perceived weakness
🤢 creating subtle embarrassment
🥴 offering yourself as the solution to that embarrassment

It erodes trust, credibility and brand equity.

No one responds well to being “identified” as a problem.

We respond to:
✅ autonomy
✅ respect
✅ self-directed decision making
✅ positioning that elevates, not diminishes

When you message someone about weight, productivity, money, mindset, parenting, leadership, without context, you are gambling with their identity.

And identity is not a low-risk sales lever.

There’s a difference between:
“Here’s an opportunity you may value.”
And:
“You look like someone who needs fixing.”

One builds authority.
The other builds resentment.

If you want predictable sales, stop leading with shame.
Stop diagnosing strangers.
Stop assuming problems they haven’t volunteered.

Build positioning that attracts the right people into conversation instead of cornering them in their inbox.

Because once someone feels judged, even subtly, you don’t just lose the sale.

You lose any credibility you might have had ✌🏼

I was in networking circles for years….. I’ll let you guess the type….. breakfast meetings, sportsman’s lunches, balls and “An evening with”

And whilst I’m a huge advocate for offline communities (especially now because they are the BIG thing for this year), there are some downfalls if your online world isn’t solid too.

👉🏼 A room of 30 people who all want to sell is not the same as 30 buyers.
👉🏼 A room of 100 people who bought tickets to the same event is not the same as 100 buyers 

It’s business owners hoping:
🤝🏻 you’ll refer them
🎙️ you’ll promote them
👆🏼 you’ll “keep them in mind”

Which means these rooms are full of supply.
NOT demand.
And certainly not the demand the online world has. 

Shall I give you some numbers? (Good like that 😉) 
If you spend:
-2 hours in a weekly meeting
-1 hour travelling
-1 hour in follow-ups

That’s 4 hours a week.

Over a year?
That’s 200+ hours.

200 hours pitching to people who mostly don’t need what you sell and I hate to break it to you boo, don’t even fucking know the people who do 🤦🏼‍♀️ 

Now compare that to building an online audience where:
-People follow you because they’re interested
-They consume your content repeatedly
-They pre-qualify themselves before ever messaging

So even 200 hours a year into your online marketing, positioning and sales is going to provide a higher ROI 💰 

It’s estimated over 70% of B2B buyers now research a business online before making contact.
And over 60% of the buying decision is made before a sales conversation even happens…..I strive for 80% just so you know 🙃

That doesn’t happen in a hotel conference room at 7am with burnt coffee and laminated name badges.

Networking rooms are brilliant for:
✅ Confidence
✅ Speaking practice
✅ Local awareness
✅ A handful of strong relationships
✅ Backing up what’s online…..(hence why you should hand over your phone to connection with someone, NOT a bloody business card)

But they are not demand generation machines.

In most networking circles, you are selling for other people.
Referring them.
Remembering them.
Advocating for them.

Online?

You build a world where people advocate for you.
Where content sells when you’re not in the room.
Where buyers arrive already convinced.

It’s predictable. Consistent and half the fucking time and effort. 

There is nothing wrong with offline……
But if your online positioning is weak, you’re effectively renting attention for 2 hours a week instead of owning it 24/7 🤷🏼‍♀️ 

A room full of sellers will keep you busy.
An audience full of buyers will make you money.

And those two things are not the same…..

Whilst I was snapping photos of my coffee this morning, (yes I do that) 3 COLD leads dropped into my inbox….

1️⃣ Paid within 2 hours 
2️⃣ Has the invoice ready to pay 
3️⃣ Hasn’t read the reply yet 

When I say cold…..followed me in the last 2 weeks, but weren’t connected, never spoken….

My content did 80% of the selling for me, like it should. 
The 20% in my DMs is discussing options, answering any questions and confirming next steps. 

I had 4 other stone cold leads this week, 2 converted within 24 hours into clients.

I can not stress this enough, if your DMs feel effort, stress or force, if you’re constantly chasing or following up, something is going wrong elsewhere……AKA in your messaging and positioning.
