Last Friday, I stole a few hours to do something I had been wanting to do for many years.

Attend a book fair.

I finally made it to the New Delhi World Book Fair, organised by the National Book Trust—and honestly, it felt like the Mahakumbh for book lovers.
📚 Books from every genre
📚 For every age group
📚 In multiple Indian and international languages

This year’s theme was dedicated to the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces, which added a deeper sense of pride and purpose to the entire experience.

What surprised me the most?
Entry was completely free
The arrangements and facilities were exceptionally well managed

My only regret?
I wish I had planned it better and brought my daughter and a few community members along. Also could have captured more pictures to share it over here.

But then again, there’s always a next time.

That’s the beauty of being intentional with your time.

I officially started my real YouTube journey during COVID in 2020—even though my channel existed since 2011.

For almost 8 years, I did nothing with it.

My first video actually went up in 2019, only because I needed to share my contest speech for feedback. No big plans. No creator mindset.

Everything changed in February 2020.

I had just travelled to the UK, and within days, the lockdown was announced.

I found myself alone in an apartment for nearly 11 months.

To stay sane.
To stay connected.
To feel human.
I started creating content on YouTube.

Like many others, I saw people begin their journeys around the same time.

But as life opened up again, most of them quit.

I didn’t.

A few days ago, we quietly crossed a milestone — 95,000+ views on this channel, though YouTube analytics says it's over 118k but I'm happy either way. 

Today, we have:

Multiple experiments across genres
A clear evolution of purpose

What began as book reviews, interviews, and vlogs has, for the last 3 years, been deeply focused on Public Speaking, Communication, and Storytelling.

We now have:

Last Sunday was a beautiful reminder of why storytelling matters — especially when it begins early.

I had the privilege of being an external judge for a kids’ story writing competition conducted for school students.

What truly stayed with me wasn’t just their creativity or imagination, but the curiosity in their questions.

One question especially made me pause and smile:
 “Sir, why did you choose to become a storyteller?”

Questions like these show how deeply children observe and reflect — far beyond their years.

During the session, I also shared one of my all-time favourite stories from the Panchatantra — the story of Two Stones.

A simple tale, yet packed with timeless wisdom — and watching young minds connect the dots was incredibly fulfilling.

As a storytelling & communication coach, moments like these reaffirm my belief:
When children are encouraged to express, question, and narrate, we aren’t just building skills,  we are nurturing confidence, clarity, and character.

Grateful to Anil Jalali & the team for the opportunity, the curious questions, and the young storytellers who reminded me that the most powerful stories are often the simplest ones.

That was the core insight from my session “𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐍𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬” at Skilling on Saturdays this weekend.

Many professionals believe that if the data is accurate and the logic is sound, decisions should automatically follow.

But in reality, we’ve all experienced moments where we presented the right numbers, explained them well, and still saw no movement.

One of the primary reasons for this is what I refer to as the 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞.

When we know something deeply, we unconsciously assume others see what we see. They don’t.

During the session, we explored how storytelling bridges this gap by helping professionals:
📌Create context before diving into data
📌Share insight, not just information
📌Offer direction, not just conclusions

We worked with a simple yet powerful framework—CID (Context, Insight, Direction)—and applied it live to balance sheets, social data, water consumption statistics, and real professional scenarios. 

The shift was visible the moment participants stopped explaining numbers and started guiding decisions.

We also discussed three communication habits that immediately improve influence:
1️⃣Lead with meaning, not numbers
2️⃣Pause after key insights
3️⃣Focus on audience benefit, not personal credentials

And then something interesting happened.

Lakshmi arrived on her own and said, “I always follow wisdom.”

Walk toward the light of knowledge, and it follows naturally.

An experienced professional came to me for a 1:1 consultation for an interesting problem he was having.

Eye contact is confidence without words.

You can say all the right things,
Have the best slides,
Even hold a powerful position,
But if your eyes keep avoiding people, your message quietly loses strength.

We’ve all seen it.

People who suddenly look at the floor.
Fix their gaze on a screen.
Pretend to adjust papers.
Anything—except meet another human’s eyes.

A few years back, during my daughter’s parent–teacher meeting, the head teacher was presenting important updates.

The content was relevant.
The intent was sincere.

Yet something felt off.

Throughout the presentation, there was almost no eye contact with the parents.

Eyes stayed glued to notes and the projector.

As a listener, I noticed my engagement drop even though I wanted to listen.

And as a communication & storytelling coach, it made me pause.

Because eye contact is not about staring. It’s about connection.

It silently says: 
“I see you.”
“I’m present.”
“I stand by what I’m saying.”

When we avoid eye contact, the audience subconsciously reads:
Lack of confidence
Discomfort with authority
Or uncertainty in the message
Even when none of that is true.

In leadership, classrooms, boardrooms, and stages, eye contact is credibility before words even land.

Last week, I had the opportunity to conduct a Leadership Mindset Training for a startup team where many leaders were stepping into people management for the first time.

Most of them had:
- Never worked in a traditional corporate environment
- Grown purely through execution and delivery
- Suddenly found themselves responsible for people, not just tasks

And that’s where the struggle begins.

👉 Being great at doing doesn’t automatically make you effective at leading.

During the sessions, we focused on a few critical shifts:

The organiser summed it up beautifully:
“What truly stood out was how interactive the session was, keeping every participant engaged while encouraging open discussions, reflection, and hands-on thinking. The training sparked meaningful conversations and equipped our team with actionable takeaways they can apply immediately.”

That’s exactly the outcome I aim for.

Leadership training shouldn’t feel theoretical, intimidating, or disconnected from reality, especially for first-time and mid-level managers.

It should feel:
✔ practical
✔ safe
✔ relatable
✔ and immediately usable

Over the years, I’ve seen this pattern repeat itself again and again. Now that 10 days of 2026, it would be quite evident even on LinkedIn.

Some people start with a huge burst of excitement esp. at the start of the year. 
They attend everything in the first week.
They practice daily for a few days.
They promise themselves, “This time I’ll give it my all.”

And then life happens.
Energy dips.
Momentum fades.

On the other hand, there are people who don’t look extraordinary at the start.

They show up quietly.
They practice for 10–15 minutes.
They take imperfect action.
They keep going even when motivation is low.
Week after week.

Fast forward a few months, and the difference is unmistakable.

Their confidence feels real.
Their clarity improves.
Their growth is steady, not forced.

What experience has taught me is this:

You don’t need dramatic effort.
You need repeated, honest practice.

Being "dependable" is why some people never get promoted.


Let me tell you the trap no one talks about:

The Dependability Paradox:

The better you are at your job --> The more you absorb --> The more "essential" you become —>The harder you are to move. 

And managers don't promote people they can't replace.

Your manager isn't tracking your consistency. 

-They're tracking who speaks up in meetings. 
-Who sends the recap email. 
-Who takes credit - clearly and unapologetically.

Dependability is a career asset.
Until it becomes a ceiling.

I was honestly just bored and randomly thought of trying this on ChatGPT. Didn’t expect it to turn out this good.

It’s actually crazy how realistic AI is getting. From time-pass experiments to results that look straight out of a movie poster.

AI is booming, no doubt.

And sometimes, it’s just fun to play around and be amazed by what it can do.

Just came back from Delhi after 2 days.


And why does it feel like I’ve returned from a foreign trip every single time?

Not even exaggerating.

It’s not just the cold. it’s the prep.
Masks packed.
Oil for the nose packed.
Constant reminder: don’t step out without a mask.

In Mumbai, you forget your phone and go back.
In Delhi, you forget your mask and reconsider going out at all.

Plus the weather, I took off in 5 degrees within an hour landed in 32 degrees LOL

Delhi for 2 days taught me discipline. Mumbai welcomed me back with humidity 

Same country, very different experiences.

5 workplace soft skills no one trains you for (but everyone judges you on)

The ones who stall aren't missing hard skills. They're missing these:

1. You ramble in meetings - Less is more. Say it once, say it well, stop.

2. Your Slack tone is a problem -  "Just circling back!" is not as friendly as you think.

3. You say yes to everything - And now you're overwhelmed, resentful, and replaceable.

4. You react badly to feedback - Even when you think you're hiding it - you're not.

5. You pitch ideas like you're apologising - Stop asking for permission. Start offering solutions.

No one trains you on these. 
But they're exactly what gets discussed behind closed doors.

After training 900+ students with a 98% success rate, this is the one pattern I see again and again:


👉 Candidates place the interviewer on a pedestal.
👉 They forget their own value.
👉 Confidence collapses before the first question.

Let me say this clearly: you are NOT below the interviewer.

An interview is not a favour. It’s a 1:1 professional conversation.

They are evaluating:

-your skills
-your energy
-your mindset
-your time

And in return, they pay you.

-You are offering value.
-They are offering an opportunity.
-That makes you equals.

If you get selected. Great, you earned it.
If you don’t, they’ll forget the interaction the moment you walk out.

So stop trying to impress. Stop shrinking yourself. Start showing up as a professional who knows their worth.

Confidence isn’t arrogance. It’s clarity.

I work from home and I forgot what human connection actually feels like. 


Until last week.

I hosted a success event at PW office in Noida. 

Students from my batch over 2.5 years, students who got placed in top leading private banks.

Many had felt aimless before joining.

A lot struggled with confidence.
Most were told their communication wasn't "corporate enough."

But watching them on stage, I noticed something different:

They weren't just speaking well.
They were connecting.

We've romanticized remote work so much that we've forgotten the one communication skill LinkedIn doesn't teach: Showing up in person when it matters.

The students who traveled hours just because they knew I'd be there? That's a real impact you can feel in your bones.

2.5 years of working from home and it took one event to remind me why I do this.

Sometimes the best communication training happens when you close the laptop.
