As I look back on my vision board for 2025, I hit every single thing I set out to do…

EXCEPT the thing I wanted the most, becoming a mom.

This year reminded me of something I knew but forgot:

Having a big goal or desire doesn't mean you get it on the timeline you want.

That try as I might, I can’t control everything. 
(so annoying for a controlling Type A gal like me to accept!) 

It means you learn how to hold what come...with integrity, softness, and truth.

This year I celebrated, rested, played, and led more than ever before. 
I crossed financial milestones I’m deeply proud of.

Surpassing $1M cash felt so surreal as this was a goal I had written down years ago and I remember it feeling so impossibly far away.

Now I know I’ll hit my next million in half the time.
I also hiked, traveled, danced, loved, and let myself feel alive.

And I also sat with disappointment in the place that mattered most to my heart.

Both are true. Both belong.

If your year didn’t turn out how you imagined, you’re not behind. 
You’re not broken.

You’re BECOMING.

✨ What did 2025 teach you? 

One of my favorite things in 2025 was traveling to Costa Rica where the sunsets, food, and connections with fellow entrepreneurs, women, and mammas filled up my cup.

I'll never forget the month I hit $30K for the first time.

On paper, it should have been a celebration. It felt great for my ego.

But instead, I was sitting at my kitchen table, staring at my calendar with a total pit in my stomach

...and I started crying.

Because I realized I had built a cage.

- My calendar was wall-to-wall 1:1 calls. 
- I was delivering multiple programs.
- I was responding to DMs at 10pm because I didn't want anyone to think I wasn't available.

I was making more money than I ever had before.

And I was also more exhausted 😮‍💨 than I'd ever been.

That's when I realized:

What got me to $30K months was the EXACT thing that was going to cap me from ever hitting $50K or $100K months.

- The hustle. 
- The over-delivering. 
- The people-pleasing. 
- The "I'll accept whatever client wants to pay me" mentality.

And the real tricky this is...it worked. Until it didn't

But it wasn't going to get me to the level of freedom that I truly craved.

(bc, I don't know about you...but I didn't leave my 9-5 just to create another one)

I had to make a choice:

Keep going the way I was going and burn out completely. (this option sounded terrible)

OR...restructure everything so I could scale without sacrificing my life.

I chose the second option.

- I restructured my offers & focused on scalable offeres
- I set boundaries even though my inner people-pleaser was screaming.
- I repositioned for self-led clients instead of ones who needed me to hold their hand through every decision.

And that's when everything changed.

I went from $30K months that felt like hell to $50K, $70K, $100K+ launches that felt light.

Because I wasn't trading time for money anymore.

I was building offers that could scale.

Here's the uncomfortable truth... you're being judged no matter what you do.

You can play small, or play big.

Stop shrinking.

Before coaching, I was a sales consultant.

I trained thousands of sellers at LinkedIn. I sold multi-six and seven-figure consulting contracts at a major consulting company.

I was good at sales. Really good.

But here's what I didn't realize until later:

I was selling from proving. Not power.

I thought if I just worked harder than everyone else, over-delivered more than everyone else, sacrificed more than everyone else - I'd be successful.

And it worked. For a while.

I built my coaching business to consistent $25K months.

But I was trapped.

Trapped in the identity of the hustler coach. The coach who thought struggle was a badge of honor.

That's when I realized:

I wasn't building the business I wanted. I was building a business of proving.

And proving doesn't scale.

So I had to make a shift.

From hustler to conscious leader.

From pressure to presence.

From chasing to being chosen.

And that shift changed everything.

I went from capped income to $100K+ launches.

I went from saying yes to anyone with a pulse and a credit card to only working with clients who inspire me. Excite me. Expand me.

I went from exhausting my clients are to energy-giving clients.

Most people are building LinkedIn brands that will never make them money.

I spent years inside LinkedIn as a Sales Enablement Consultant. Then built my own brand that's generated $1M+ in revenue.

Here's what most people get wrong about LinkedIn in 2026:

🚫 What doesn't work anymore:
- Posting 5x a day hoping something sticks
- Generic motivational quotes that could be on Instagram
- Building a "personal brand" without a clear monetization strategy
- Celebrating 10K followers when you can't convert 10 clients

✅ What actually builds a monetizable brand:

1. Content that converts. Every post should either educate your buyer, build trust, or move them toward a purchase decision.

2. Engagement depth over width. LinkedIn's 2026 algorithm rewards meaningful conversations. 50 engaged prospects beat 5,000 passive followers.

3. Positioning precision. "Business coach" won't cut it. "I help female coaches scale from $50K to $500K without working 70-hour weeks" will.

4. Prioritizing revenue-driving metrics. Like tracking the # of conversations started, not comment counts.

The buyers in 2026 are sophisticated. 
They scroll past generic content instantly. 

(Especially with all the AI-written word vomit that is all over our feeds making everyone sound the same)

They want to work with someone who clearly understands their exact problem and has a proven system to solve it.

Your LinkedIn brand isn't about going viral.

It's about becoming the obvious choice when someone with money is ready to invest in a solution.

From the inside, I can tell you: LinkedIn rewards creators who drive real tangible outcomes, not just engagement.

LinkedIn has changed a lot in the last year, don't you think?

The best salespeople I know barely talk.

Sounds backwards, right?

We picture great salespeople as smooth talkers. 
Always pitching. Dominating every conversation.

That's actually what average salespeople do.

In my years training over 3,000 sales professionals, I watched this same pattern:

The reps who talked 80% of the call closed maybe 20% of their deals.

The top performers? They flipped that ratio. 

They asked better questions. Then shut up and listened.

Here's what this looks like on your discovery calls:

🚫 Average coach: "Let me tell you about my program and all the amazing results my clients get..."

✅ Top-performing coach: "What's the biggest challenge you're facing right now?" 

Then listens. Really listens.

 🚫 Average coach: "Here's why my method works better than everything else..."

✅ Top performer: "What have you tried before that didn't work? What made it fall short?"

Again, listens.

The magic happens in that silence.

Your prospect tells you exactly how to help them. They reveal their real pain points. They practically sell themselves.

But here's what most coaches miss:

Listening isn't passive. It's the most strategic thing you can do.

When you truly listen, you're gathering their exact language. Their specific problems. The outcomes they're desperate for.

That's when selling stops feeling pushy.

And starts feeling like the most natural thing in the world.

What's the most surprising thing a prospect has revealed to you when you just... listened?

Here's why you haven't hit a $100K launch...yet
(And it's probably not the reason you think.)

❌ It's not because you don't know how to sell.
You've signed clients. You've had wins. You've launched before.

❌ It's not because your offer isn't good enough.
Your clients get results. Your work is powerful and transformational.

❌ It's not about needing another funnel, template, or marketing hack.
You've probably tried those already and still feel stuck.

Here's the actual reason:
Your offer suite wasn't built for $100K launches.

Most coaches build from survival mode:
→ Saying yes to anyone who shows interest
→ Stacking on endless modules or bonuses thinking "more = better"
→ Designing offers that require you to be present, live, and pouring in 110% on delivery

That creates:
• Heavy, unscalable offers
• Programs where you carry the results

✅ A strategic offer suite with upsells, downsells, and multiple entry points
✅ Messaging that resonates so deeply, your dream clients think: "There's no one else for me."

In my first $100K launch - guess what I sold? A $3K program, not $10K or $25K.

I combined:

• A $1K VIP upgrade that sold out
• A $100 down-sell for those not ready to commit many of whom bought back into the main offer

26% of early childhood teachers are considering leaving the field. The second most common reason will surprise you (and it's not the pay):
 
According to a 2025 NAEYC study of over 10,000 early educators, 26% say they want to leave the field.
 
And the second most common reason?
 
Lack of resources to support children's developmental and behavioral needs.
 
Read that again.
 
These aren't teachers who don't care. These aren't teachers who "aren't cut out for it."
 
These are teachers who were never given the tools to do what's being asked of them.
 
Here's the myth most directors believe:
 
"If my teachers have degrees in child development, they should already know how to handle challenging behaviors."
 
Here's the truth:
 
Teacher education programs teach the WHAT of child development, pair that with 50 practicum hours and expect pre-service teachers to be ready for the field.  
 
They don't teach HOW to stay regulated themselves when a kid is climbing into the water table, another is refusing lunch, and a third is having a meltdown during transitions.
 
Just because your teachers have a degree or credential in child development or early ed doesn't mean they're fully prepared for real world classroom experiences.
 
This isn't a teacher problem. This is a systems-level training gap.
 
And the solution?
It's not another SEL curriculum.
 
It's giving teachers the nervous system literacy, hands-on training and ongoing coaching they actually need to stay in the field.

It’s Not Behavior Challenges—It’s Ineffective SEL Training | Transforming Preschool Teams with Brain Science, Regulation & Yoga-Based PD That’s Not a SnoozeFest | Ready to Get RegulatED?

Why are we using police and military language to talk about preschoolers?
 
Seriously.
 
When I hear the word "de-escalation," I immediately think of training for police or the military.
 
I think of a war zone.
 
I think of threats that need to be controlled.
 
And yet, this is the language I've heard being tossed around several times in the last week.
 
Let that sink in.
 
De-escalation implies there's a threat.
It implies danger.
It implies someone needs to be subdued or controlled.
 
But a child having a meltdown during transitions isn't a threat.
A child climbing the water table isn't dangerous.
A child refusing lunch and pushing his plate off the table isn't someone who needs to be controlled.
 
They're disregulated.
 
And here's the part we can't ignore:
 
Research shows that when children are labeled as physical, aggressive, or dangerous, those labels are disproportionately put on black and brown boys.
 
Even in preschool.
 
Even at 4 years old.
 
When we use de-escalation language in early childhood education, we're reinforcing a racist lens that treats black and brown boys as threats instead of children who need support.
 
We're framing normal childhood behaviors like big emotions, boundary testing, developmental disregulation as dangerous situations that need to be managed.
 
We're treating preschool classrooms like war zones.
 
And we're treating teachers like they need tactical training to survive.
 
Here's what teachers actually need:
 
Co-regulation skills.
Nervous system literacy.
Age-appropriate yoga and mindfulness strategies.
The ability to stay calm and grounded when a child is disregulated.
 
Tools to prevent behaviors from escalating in the first place...
...not tactics to manage them once they've already spiraled.
 
Because language matters.
 
The way we talk about children shapes how we see them.
 
And when we see children (especially black and brown boys) as threats, we train teachers to control them.
 
But when we see children as disregulated tiny humans who need our support, we train teachers to co-regulate with them.
 
That's the shift.
 
From de-escalation to co-regulation.
From control to connection.
From crisis management to prevention.

-Coaches who need to be valid and reliable in the assessments they do with teachers.
-Policy shifts that are cascading down to every single program they work with.
 
And these coaches? They're carrying all of it.
They're the ones supporting teachers in the classroom.
 
They're the ones coaching and holding space for directors.
 
They're the intermediary between the teachers who need support and the programs that need to meet standards.
 
They're integral to elevating the early childhood workforce.
But they don't often have a direct seat at the table.
 
Because they're working with so many different schools and centers, they're constantly moving between sites, supporting everyone else, and rarely getting support themselves.
 
So when I was invited to provide a sneak peek of the regulation work I do, it felt very natural to offer them a moment of grounding.
 
A moment of relaxation.
 
A moment to actually feel what regulation feels like in their own bodies.
 
I guided them through a simple 3-minute breathwork exercise.
 
Afterwards, I asked: "What sensations are coming up in your body right now?"
 
The responses were unanimous:
 
Calm.
 
Peaceful.
 
Relaxed.
 
Softer.

Present.
 
Feeling so relaxed I'm yawning and want to take a nap.
 
And here's why this matters:
 
When coaches are regulated, they can model that for the teachers they work with.
 
When teachers are regulated, they can co-regulate with the children in their classrooms.
 
It's not top-down compliance.
It's embodied practice that starts with the adults.
 
Because you can't teach what you don't practice.
You can't model regulation if you've never felt it in your own body.
 
That's the foundation of everything I do in Let's Get RegulatED.
 
Nervous system literacy.
Embodied tools that actually create change.

Most preschool teachers think yoga is about getting kids to get calm and sit still. Here's what it's actually about:
 
We were about 4 or 5 weeks into doing weekly yoga sessions with my 3-year-olds.
 
By then, they understood what to expect during our yoga time and had internalized the routine.  
 
I scaffolded the social-emotional learning by design.  And each week this allowed us to go a little deeper.
 
This week's theme was bravery.  And throughout the session, I sprinkled in moments of discussion and reflection so these little learners could figure out what the theme actually means to them.
 
One child said: "Being brave is when I tried the monkey bars for the first time even though I was scared."
 
Another mentioned: "I used my Topolino to help me be brave when mommy dropped me off at preschool."
 
Topolino was his tiny stuffed mouse.  His safety object when mom walked out the door.
 
These 3-year-olds weren't just hanging out in downward dog and singing cute nursery rhymes, they were strengthening their regulation skills:
- waiting their turn to share their reflections
- listening to their peers with empathy
- learning to label emotions
- trying to make sense of their inner worlds
 
And of course we moved our bodies with intention as well.  And for this session,  we practiced what bravery FEELS like in the body.
 
Tree pose.
 
Tabletop pose.

Boat pose (on your own and with partners)
 
Balancing poses that required focus, agility, coordination.
 
Poses where they had muster strength, wobble a bit, fall, get back up, and try again.
 
They weren't just talking about being brave.
 
They were embodying it.
 
This is what happens when teachers know how to use yoga and mindfulness as regulation tools.
 
And eventually these social-emotional skills translate into other aspects of the classroom as well:
-they stay longer at tasks.
-they take risks even if it's scary
-they don't unravel at every transition.
 
But most preschool teachers never learn how to facilitate this kind of work.
 
That's the gap I've spent 18 years figuring out how to fill.

$25K probably sounds expensive to you.
 
Until you calculate what losing a preschool teacher actually costs.
 
Here's the math:
 
Recruiting costs: Job postings, screening, interviews = $2K-5K
 
Onboarding costs: Training new hire, getting them up to speed = $3K-6K
 
Coverage costs: Subs while you're short-staffed = $150-300/day (add it up over 2-3 months)
 
Classroom disruption: Kids lose consistency, behaviors increase, families get frustrated = priceless (and painful)
 
Total cost of one teacher leaving mid-year? Easily $15K-25K.
 
And that's just ONE teacher.
 
Now add the hidden costs:
 
→ Your time spent recruiting instead of leading  
→ Other teachers covering extra ratios (leading to more burnout)  
→ Stagnant SEL assessment scores during federal reviews  
→ Morale dropping across your whole team
 
So when you say 'we can't afford $25K for training when we need credentials,' here's what you're really saying:
 
"I'd rather spend $25K reactively replacing teachers than proactively keeping them."
 
Research from the Learning Policy Institute is clear:
 
Credentials alone don't predict classroom quality.
 
What does?
 
→ Ongoing professional development (not one-off workshops)  
→ Reflective supervision and coaching  
→ Supportive work environments  
→ Teacher wellbeing and confidence
 
In other words: a teacher can have every credential in the book and still feel completely lost when a 3-year-old is having a meltdown.
 
Credentials get teachers in the door.
 
But confidence, skill, and regulation capacity keep them in the field.

Sending preschool teachers to one SEL workshop and expecting transformation is like going to the gym once and expecting to be fit for life.
 
It doesn't work.
 
You can't create lasting change with a single teacher training day.
 
You can't build new skills with a motivational speech and a workbook.
 
You can't shift teaching practices with one-off professional development.
 
Here's what actually works:
Ongoing training paired with reflective practice and consistent instructional coaching.

Time to practice new skills in real classroom moments.

Accountability and follow-up to make sure the strategies are actually being used.
 
That's how you create transformation.
That's how you shift from behavior management to nervous system regulation.
That's how you decrease classroom stress and boost teacher confidence.
 
If one-off SEL workshops worked, the behavior challenges that your teachers experience would already be solved.
 
But they're not.

If you run a Head Start preschool program, you're probably wasting your T&TA budget.
 
Not because you're spending it wrong.

Every year, I watch the same pattern play out.
 
Directors get busy with the program year.
 
Enrollment flurries, Fall assessments, parent-teacher conferences, Policy council meetings.
 
Then April hits.
 
Someone realizes: 
"Oh shit, we still have $30K left in T&TA funds and the program year ends in June."
 
Cue the scramble.
 
Panic-booking trainings.
 
Throwing money at whatever's available.
 
Settling for one-off workshops or that don't move the needle because you're out of time.
 
And the cycle repeats next year.
 
Here's what that pattern actually costs you:
 
→ Training that doesn't align with your teachers' real needs  
→ No time for implementation support or follow-up  
→ Funding that's invested only on compliance, not transformation  
→ Teachers who feel grateful for the extra PD, but have no clue how or when they'll use it before the year is up.
 
Smart T&TA budget planning happens in January.
 
Not April or May.
 
Because when you invest early:
 
→ You have time to implement what teachers learn  
→ You can schedule training around your program calendar  
→ You avoid the end-of-year scramble  
→ You get better ROI because teachers actually use what they learn
 
Stop treating your T&TA budget like a last-minute fire drill.
 
Start treating it like the strategic investment it is.

The difference between yoga breathing that works in preschool classrooms and yoga breathing that flops? [These 3 simple fixes]
 
I was recently coaching a preschool teacher who wanted to use yoga breathing before story time.
 
Her classroom is full of energetic, active kids, and she needed a way to help them transition from outdoor playtime to sitting for a read-aloud.
 
So we created a goal: 3 deep breaths before story time to help ground the children and improve focus.
 
When I observed her try it, she did almost everything right.
 
Calm voice. 
Calm demeanor. 
Quick redirects when kids got distracted.
 
But the kids weren't that engaged.
 
Here's what was missing:
 
1. Give simple, clear instructions
 
She jumped straight into "okay, let's take three deep breaths" without breaking it down.
 
Preschoolers need to know exactly what's coming.
 
Try this instead: "We're going to do 3 yoga breaths together. I'll show you first, then we'll do it together, then you'll try on your own."
 
2. Provide context (the WHY)
 
Without context, there's no motivating factor for kids to pay attention.
 
They need to understand this is a tool they can use for themselves.
 
Try this: "Yoga breaths help us calm our bodies down, especially when we're feeling a little wild inside. Doesn't that sound fun?"
 
Now they're making the connection: my teacher is showing me how to do something when I'm feeling this emotion.
 
3. Use props to keep attention
 
This is the game-changer.
 
Grab a rainbow craft feather (you probably have one in your closet).
 
Place it in the palm of your hand.
 
Take a big deep breath in like you're smelling flowers.
 
Blow the feather off your palm like you're blowing out birthday candles.
 
Now the kids can SEE their breath working.
 
They're engaged. 
They're learning the mechanics. 
They're having fun.

Spring PD planning is happening now. And most preschool directors are making two critical mistakes.
 
Mistake 1: They're waiting too long.

74% of early educators report concerns about mental health in their classrooms. [But most are using the wrong tools to address it]
 
Here's what I mean:
 
When early educators see...
... ADHD
... anxiety
... depression

they commonly reach for 
... behavior charts
... time outs
.... that scripted SEL curriculum that doesn't always fit in preschool classrooms.
 
And it makes sense, right?
 
Teachers use methods they experienced as children themselves or outdated strategies they probably learned in their teacher prep programs.
 
But research shows a better way.
 
A recent study found that mindfulness practices are powerful tools for preventing anger, physical aggression, and relational aggression in preschool children.
 
Here's what mindfulness does in preschool classrooms:
 
✔️ Develops attention regulation (prevents impulsive reactions) 
✔️ Builds emotional regulation skills 
✔️ Supports a positive classroom climate 
✔️ Strengthens prosocial behaviors
 
And when teachers have a practical toolkit of yoga and mindfulness strategies?
 
They can meet children in high-stress moments like transitions and separation anxiety.

Free street parking in Playa del Rey at sunset? That's when you know the universe is on your side.
 
I was driving to meet friends for dinner and game night last weekend, and I left early on purpose.
 
Because I NEEDED the ocean.
 
As I drove on the freeway toward the coast, the sky was ablaze...
... deep oranges
...marigold yellows
...magentas bleeding into the horizon.
 
And I kept thinking: please let me get there before the sun sets completely- it would be so amazing if I could experience it with the sand between my toes, the ocean breeze on my face, the sound of the waves crashing into the shoreline...
 
And by some stroke of luck, I found that unicorn parking spot.
 
Yoshi and I jogged down to the beach, and we made it.
 
The sunset was stunning.
 
We caught the tail end, but it lasted another 30 minutes while we were there.
 
People had set up beach chairs and picnic blankets. 
Dogs running. 
Cyclists stopped mid-ride. 
Everyone just… pausing.
 
The sky on one side was all those bold, fiery colors.
 
Turn left, and it shifted to pastels...periwinkle, lavender, soft pinks.
 
And I just stood there thinking: this happens every single day.
 
This natural phenomenon.
 
And we're so busy, we take it for granted.
 
But I've promised myself that this is the year I actually go to the beach consistently because these moments? This is my happy place.
 
So here's to two beach trips this month.
 
And many more to come.
 
📌 What about you- what's your happy place? Where do you go when you need to regulate and reset?

Last week I wrote a post about why we need to stop using police and military language like "de-escalation" when we talk about preschoolers.
 
And some folks in the comments disagreed with me.
 
Which, honestly? I think is healthy.
 
I think that when we can come to the table with differing perspectives and actually engage in debate about things like this, that's huge. 
That's how we grow. 
That's how we challenge our own thinking.
 
But here's where I need to draw a line.
 
One person said: 
"I think you need to dial back this article. I totally disagree . I have been an educator in the primary grades for over 15 years and have never used the words de-escalate to my students nor I have put labels on them for inappropriate behavior. You are way off just my opinion."
 
And listen, I'm glad that this educator has never used those words with their students. I truly am.
 
But here's the dangerous part of this response:
 
Just because it doesn't happen to you doesn't mean it's not happening.
 
Just because YOU haven't personally witnessed it, experienced it, or done it yourself doesn't mean it's not a systemic issue affecting thousands of Black and brown children across this country every single day.
 
This is the same logic that keeps racist systems in place.
 
"I've never seen it, so it must not be real."
 
"I don't do that, so it's not a problem."
 
"I treat all my students the same, so racism doesn't exist in my classroom."
 
But the data tells a different story.
 
Research shows that Black boys as young as 3 and 4 years old are disproportionately labeled as aggressive, physical, and dangerous. They're suspended and expelled at higher rates than their white peers for the exact same behaviors.
 
And when we use language like "de-escalation" in early childhood settings, we're reinforcing this racist lens that treats Black and brown boys as threats instead of children who need support.
 
So no, I'm not going to "dial it back."
 
Because this isn't about your personal experience.
 
This is about the lived reality of Black and brown children who are being criminalized in preschool.
 
And if you've never seen it, then I'd invite you to ask yourself: Why not?
 
Are you paying attention to whose behaviors get labeled as "aggressive" versus "spirited"?
 
Are you noticing which children get the benefit of the doubt and which ones don't?
 
Are you aware of the implicit biases you might be carrying into your classroom every single day?
 
I'm not here to make anyone comfortable.
 
I'm here to disrupt the systems that are failing our children.
 
And if that makes you uncomfortable? Good.
 
That discomfort is where the real work begins.

The biggest mistake I see Head Start center directors make: Assuming degrees = classroom readiness. Here's why that's costing you your best teachers:
 
I recently had a conversation with an assistant director and center manager of a Head Start program.
 
They were confused.
 
Their teachers kept asking for more support. 
Even after meaningful SEL training.
Even after receiving 1-1 instructional coaching. 
 
They had this sense that once teachers received training and 1:1 support, they should be good to go. That they shouldn't need any further coaching or help in the classroom.
 
But here's what was actually happening:
 
Their teachers DID understand the theory. They knew what emotional-regulation was. They'd been trained on social-emotional development.
 
But when 3-year-olds start throwing furniture around the preschool classroom?
 
Well, the theory kind of fell apart.
 
Because knowing WHAT to do and being able to apply it in the chaos are two completely different things.
 
When teachers kept asking for support, they weren't saying "I don't get it."
 
They were saying "I can't do this alone yet."
 
And that's not failure. That's honesty.
 
Here's what's missing:
 
Teacher prep programs teach theory. 
They teach WHAT brain development looks like. 
WHAT co-regulation means.
 
But they don't teach HOW to stay regulated themselves when a kid is climbing into the water table, another is pushing chairs around, and a third is having a meltdown after their friend bit them.
 
Just because your teachers have a degree in child development, a CDA or an ECE teaching permit doesn't mean they're fully prepared for real world classroom experiences.
 
So stop treating ongoing support as a red flag. 
Start treating it as part of the mastery process.
 
Mastery in social-emotional skill-building requires engaging, meaningful training paired with reflective practice and ongoing coaching.
 
Not one-off PD and a pat on the back.

Traditional ECE teacher training programs aren't preparing preschool teachers for real-world classrooms.

Last May, Diana was ready to quit teaching. Today, she's taking the lead in her preschool classroom. Here's what changed:
 
When I first met Diana, she was fresh off her first full year as a toddler teacher in an Early Head Start program.
 
She wanted so badly to love her job. To feel confident enough to return the next school year.
 
But she was stressed. 
Overwhelmed. 
The classroom behaviors were more than she felt equipped to handle.
 
Her BA program in child development hadn't prepared her for this part of teaching...
...the emotional toll
...the constant demands
...the burnout creeping in before she'd even hit year two.
 
What she needed most wasn't another self-care tip or snoozefest SEL training.
 
She needed meaningful professional development
1:1 instructional coaching. 
Intentional support.
 
So a couple months after my hands-on SEL training with all the teachers, I got to work 1:1 with Diana during a Practice Based Coaching cycle:
 
✅ Strengths and needs assessment to measure her current skills 
✅ Goal-setting focused on her top growth priorities 
✅ Observations and real-time feedback 
✅ Time to reflect and process celebrations and challenges throughout the coaching cycle. 
 
By our final coaching session, Diana showed up like a completely different teacher.
 
She carried herself with confidence. She spoke with clarity and authority.
 
And she told me:
 
"This process has been so transformative. I want to use the goal-setting framework to help me grow in other aspects of my teaching skills, and I feel confident enough to try it out."
 
That's the dream.
 
When teachers internalize the process, when they start seeing themselves as capable, reflective professionals, they stop needing you to fix every crisis.
 
They build confidence. They reconnect with their purpose. And they stay.
 
Year after year.

Diana's Transformation in her Preschool Classroom

Your preschool teachers keep asking for help after SEL trainings. Most directors think that's a red flag. It's not. Here's what it actually means:

Instead of wondering "Why can't they figure this out?"
Ask: "What support do they need to apply what they learned?"

Quick reframe:
❌ "They should know this by now" 
✅ "They need practice and reflection to integrate this"

One training session = information. 
Multiple training sessions with reflective practice and coaching = transformation.

Try this week:
During your next teacher check-in, ask: 
"What's one thing from our last SEL training that you've tried? What made it easy or hard to apply?"

When preschools teachers have the time and space to really reflect on their learnings, process what's working and discover where there growth edges are...

That's the magic sauce right there.
This is where the theory integrates into practice.
This is where the transformation happens.
