Hi there! Since you're curious, here are 7 things about me:

👉 I'm not an engineer and I don't code. But I'm obsessed with software that enables Semitechnicals to do stuff previously only possible with code. 
👉 I like words – a lot – and enjoy spending my days writing about data and automation. And I thrive on simplifying and documenting complex processes involving lots of data movement. 
👉 I'm the calmest when the music is the loudest! As a serious listener, I don't listen to music while doing something that needs my full attention. I also make music using AI-powered tools. 
👉 I love all animals and enjoy hanging out with street dogs. 
👉 I'm fiercely passionate about water conservation, waste segregation, and plastic reduction.
👉 l Iike to walk, run, and read under the sun.
👉 I love making friends, organizing parties, and bringing people together.

I'm also a writer, community builder, professional music listener, runner, and animal lover.

Who is a Semitechnical, you ask?


→ A semitechnical is someone who uses software and data to solve everyday business problems.

→ A semitechnical doesn’t code like an engineer, but they do think like one — enough to architect, automate, and document critical workflows.

→ They have a sound understanding of data foundations.

→ They can read and write enough HTML, SQL, and JSON to get their way around whatever tools and data they need to.

→ Moreover, throw any piece of software at them, and they will use the heck out of it!

BUT...

That’s just one *flavor* of us Semitechnicals 💪

So, in tech, everyone is bucketed into one of the two: technical or non-technical.  


This is something that always bothered me because I never identified with either of those.  

I am not an engineer, and I don't write code.  

I never enjoyed it.  

In fact, I find it brutally boring.  

But on the other hand, I'm far from "non-technical".  

I actually understand how software is built and what it takes to build a software business.  

And I absolutely love using and building things with software tools.  

And then there are semitechnical data people who are really good at working with large volumes of data.  

These people are analysts of some kind whose work involves making sense of the data collected by an organization, delivering insights, and preparing the data for action.  

These semitechnical data people have a deep understanding of where the data comes from, how it’s stored, how it moves, and so on.  

These people don't necessarily write code, but wouldn't it be silly to call them non-technical?  

After going through both of these experiences, I had this urge to define the persona that is neither technical – as per the widely accepted definition that a technical person is someone who writes code – nor non-technical.  

And that persona is that of a #semitechnical.  

Someone who thinks like an engineer and uses software to build solutions to everyday business problems.  

If that sounds like you, then you are one of us Semitechnicals 💪
