🎵 I wish  #NFTs existed 10 - 15 years ago.

I have practically been a music nerd for all my life. 

I used to play in various bands and as a solo artist as well as worked for record labels, organized festivals & managed up and coming artists.

I consider this experience very precious and am thankful for the opportunities I received.

I got to play in Los Angeles on Sunset Boulevard and toured the entire US.

Ranked up over half a million plays on Myspace (Yes, Myspace did exist back then)

Got featured in the biggest Rock/ Metal magazine in China.

And was on German TV.

Why am I telling you this?

It sounds like that could pay the bills right?

It didn't. AT ALL. It was a +- business.

Independent artists without much representation have it hard. 

Music piracy did not help at the beginning of the century.

And the model of streaming pays independent artists unfairly.

Along came COVID and seriously threatened live music and musicians.

Music NFTs taking off (in the next few years) feels like a resurrection for the music industry to me.

BREAKING: Udio strikes AI licensing deal with Merlin, representing indie labels in 70+ countries and 15% of global music:

Merlin now licenses music to Udio for AI training.

Here's why this matters:
↳ Merlin represents indie labels in 70+ countries.
↳ They control 15% of global recorded music sales.

The deal structure:

→ Artists choose to participate
→ Labels get paid for their music
→ Compensation flows back to creators
→ Terms protect "human artistry"

This follows Udio's settlements with:
↳ Universal Music Group (October)
↳ Warner Music Group (November)

Both majors dropped their lawsuits.
Now they have licensing deals instead.

Merlin CEO Charlie Lexton said it best:

Udio CEO Andrew Sanchez added:

The shift is clear:

From courtroom battles:

Udio is also hiring.

Publishing Administration for the German metal band Rammstein. I organised the incoming payments, controlled copyright statements on records, did refundation and all the stuff which is related to copyright and music publishing

I visited the GEMA (German equivalent to STIM) general assembly, handled the licence fees of the band and discussed the sense of the copyright. This is a current discussion in Germany since the Pirate Party came from Sweden to Germany and grew up. I also worked in corporation with sub publishers like kobalt music publishing and catalogued sync fees for the band.

I was responsible for marketing budget researches of customers. I was also forced to search new possible costumers for advertisements.  
After doing this a few weeks, I got into a team which build a new portal for collaborative consumption and linked neighbourhoods. I assisted in the concept, made researches, developed marketing strategies and defined our target groups.

During the period of the 7th of March 2011 and the 4th of April 2011, I did an internship with Pilgrim Managment GmbH. In this time, Pilgrim Management was active in the music business and represented the German bands "Rammstein" and "Emigrate".

I got insights into several parts of the company during my internship also including meetings with "Rammstein Merchandise OHG", Here, new ideas for merchandise article were discussed, prices defined and offeres by supliers analysed. Moreover, at this time, merchandise strategies for Rammstein's America tour were planed. Additionally, I experienced the daily business of merchandise companies including packaging and preperation of shipping and the more.

Beside merchandise related issues, I experience what hard work has to be done for planning tours including visa difficulties, contract renegotiations and daily problem solving.

As little highlight, Emanuel Fialik presented the halls of BlackBoxMusic, one of the biggest  technic rental companies in Europa and important partner of Rammstein and Pilgrim Management at this time.

I also worked through a range of field independently during this internship. I got my own office room and were responsible for tracking trademark infringements. Here, I researched unauthorised online retailer selling Rammstein merchandise without being licensed. Furthermore, I analysed different target groups for the band's merchandise and worked out more than 30 new idea drafts for new merchandise

Internship

Born and raised in Berlin, educated in Berlin and Stockholm, matured in Berlin and Wiesbaden, taken roots in Manubach (RLP). 

I am a rapidly analysing Marketing professional who identifies problems rather instantly. However, I refuse to act precipitate and actionistic. Instead, I check my instant assumptions diving deeper into existing data and am confident that basing decisions on data is always the better choice. Thus, Excel definitely is my friend and Google Analytics beside other BI Tools is always on.

Working hard, focused and motivated is an intrisic trait of mine. As the achievement of goals is always my highest priority, I expect to always try to deliver the best work possible from myself and others. Therefore, I can work in a team, discussing, debating and finding solutions together as I do as a Product Owner as well as work independently on my own diving deep into number crunching until I find the solution as I did as a Freelance Advisor. 

My intrinsical motivation shaped my professionalisation as well. After achieving my A-Levels with good results, I studied my Bachelor in Berlin and my Master in Stockholm without the need of extra time. Nevertheless, I managed to do a nine months internship at Deutsche Telekom as well as working once a week for a Berlin based music publisher during my study time.

After succesfully graduating from university, I did a one month internship at AgProp and, immediately afterwards,  started my Traineeship at Dr. Förster AG. Within 19 months, I made it from a Trainee to Teamlead Paid Media managing our online and offline channels independently. After two great years in Berlin, I took the chance to build an inhouse Performance Marketing Team for fitvia in Wiesbaden. Here, I was in charge of and responsible for all Performance activities in our various international markets. In August 2019, I took the chance to become a part of Germany's biggest renewable energy supplier as Digital Marketing Manager. Here, I have been responsible for Performance Marketing activities (commodity products and innovations) as well as being an active part of the newly built E-Commerce team. In June 2021 I took the opportunity to take over the (Product) Owner E-Commerce role being responsible for the whole paid media part as well as the development and maintenance of our website.
