Here's how I've spent the last few years...

1. Studied mechanical engineering and played lacrosse at MIT. 

2. Graduated and joined a startup called Blink as the first full-time mechanical engineer
 
3. Amazon bought us and we went from 250K shipped devices to over 40M. I led mechanical design on cameras and doorbells, saw my designs in Best Buy and Home Depot and on neighbor’s homes in my neighborhood, with hundreds of thousands of reviews on Amazon, and picked up 20+ patents on the way. My total tenure was 7 years; this was my dream job and the only corporate job I've ever had. 

4. Realized that working for myself was the only long-term path that made sense; started a side hsutle in real estate investing.

3. Got my RE sales license and sold 5 houses. Bought a lot in FL, had a home built, and flipped it. Bought some small multifamily and ‘house hacked’. Read a lot of books and listened to podcasts. This was 2017-end of 2019. 

4. Found a wallet on the street one night in Boston. The wallet belonged to an emerging real estate investor who was building the business I wanted to build. Brought him his wallet and an offer--- if you find a good deal, I'll put up the cash and we can be partners. Did my first deal as a minority investor and got introduced to joint ventures and syndications.

5. Made a dozen investments as a limited partner in various funds and syndications over the next two years. Did some good deals and some bad deals. Learned a lot about real estate private equity. 

6. Started Burns Capital Partners in 2022, and ran on the side while working at Amazon for 2.5 years. Raised $6M in investor capital across 6 private investments in various structures, all while at my W2.
