Als Group Chief Marketing Officer verantworte ich bei der big. bechtold-gruppe die Marketing und Kommunikationsaktivitäten. Zusammen mit meinem Team füllen wir die Positionierung der big als kundenfreundlichster Dienstleister an allen Touchpoints mit Leben. 

Mit mehr als zwei Jahrzehnten Erfahrung in den Bereichen Marketing, Kommunikation und Unternehmensführung habe ich mir persönlich ein fundiertes Verständnis für die Bedeutung von Leadership in dynamischen Umgebungen erarbeitet. Diese Erfahrung darf ich immer wieder in Projekte überführen.

Meine Leidenschaft für lebenslanges Lernen spiegelt sich nicht nur in meinem persönlichen Werdegang wider, sondern auch in meiner Führungsmethodik. Ich glaube fest daran, dass stetige Weiterentwicklung und die Förderung eines Lernklimas innerhalb eines Teams entscheidend sind, um erfolgreich zu sein und sich den Herausforderungen des Wandels zu stellen. Als Führungskraft ist es meine Aufgabe, ein Umfeld zu schaffen, in dem Mitarbeitende dazu ermutigt werden, ihr volles Potenzial zu entfalten und kontinuierlich zu wachsen.

Branding ist meine Philosophie. Hinter Branding steht für mich alles andere, was sich aus der Marke heraus entwickelt hat in der Kommunikation, im Marketing und so weiter. Ich verstehe die Bedeutung der Marke als eines der Herzstücke einer jeden Organisation und bin fest davon überzeugt, dass eine kohärente und authentische Markenidentität der Schlüssel zum Aufbau langfristiger Kundenbeziehungen und erfolgreicher Marktpositionierung ist. 

Die Anerkennung der Individualität jedes Teammitglieds ist für mich von zentraler Bedeutung. Wichtig ist mir dabei, dass die Stärken und Persönlichkeiten jedes Einzelnen den Schlüssel zum Erfolg eines Teams ausmachen. 

Als Netzwerker strebe ich ebenso danach, Menschen zusammenzubringen und Partnerschaften zu schaffen, die auf Vertrauen, Respekt und gegenseitigem Nutzen beruhen. Als Marketer habe ich eines gelernt: meistens liegt es nicht am Produkt oder der Dienstleistung einer Marke. Vielmehr geht es darum, wie eine Marke bei der Zielgruppe wahrgenommen wird. 

Wer daher in der heutigen Zeit im "Großstadt Dschungel" Aufmerksamkeit generieren möchte sollte an seiner Markenwahrnehmung arbeiten.

"KI Experten" die in der ersten DM beweisen, dass sie KI nicht nutzen. Genau mein Humor!



Ich verstehe ja, dass gerade viele Unternehmen und Menschen echt Druck haben zu verkaufen. Klar sind Kaltakquise-Nachrichten rechtlich schwierig (danke Thomas Thaler für die regelmäßigen Erinnerungen unter diversen Posts). Dennoch habe ich Verständnis, dass das gemacht wird und dass manchmal auch ich in den "Genuss" komme ein Ziel zu sein. (Hurra ich bin wichtig?)

Aber um Himmels Willen gebt euch doch zumindest mal ein bisschen Mühe! Vor allem, wenn ihr versucht Leuten KI Tool, Schulungen oder whatever zu verkaufen. 

Der aktuelle Fall, bewusst mache ich keinen Pranger draus.
- Anrede "Dr.Christian(sic!)" zeigt komplett automatisch das Vornamensfeld gegriffen
- Generischer Text, dass Selbständige gerade mit KI Fragen haben, so beliebig wie "wir atmen beide Luft" und für mich jetzt weder neu noch relevent
- Beliebiges Angebot zu KI Weiterbildungen, *gähn*
- Schick ein Daumen hoch oder schreib, dann bekommst du das Angebot. Ne lassen wir mal.

Leute wenn ihr schon rechtswidrige Werbung per Nachricht macht, dann doch bitte gut, damit sich das Risiko wenigstens lohnt.
Wenn ihr KI Themen bewerbt, dann wäre das die Chance gewesen direkt an dieser Stelle damit anzufangen sie selber zu nutzen.
Mit ein bisschen Skills in make.com oder n8n ist es eigentlich so schwer:

Anfänger:
- Zielkunden mir LinkedIn suchen lassen
- Profile an ein LLM schicken und nach Schnittstellen zum Angebot suchen lassen
- Personalisierte Mail schicken die zeigt wie die Berufsgruppe genau von KI profitiert

Fortgeschrittene können einbauen die Beiträge durchsuchen zu lassen oder andere Artefakte der Person (Podcast, Substack, Website, etc.) um noch personalisierter zu schreiben. Dann gerne auch die Tonalität des betreffenden Ziel zu wählen.

Bonus: Check die Mail vorher, nicht dass der Dulli mehr Plan von KI hat als du und in seinem Profil eine kleine Prompt-injection versteckt hat und dein LLM dann lustige Dinge generiert.

Mal ehrlich: So viel Aufwand ist das nicht und wenn du glaubst KI kann mir helfen, dann zeig doch mal dass sie dir geholfen hat. Dann hast du zumindest eine gewisse Kompetenzvermutung sicher.

Und ja das oben ist wirklich noch das Einsteiger-Level, das zum Teil schon nicht gemacht wird. Ich muss wirklich lachen.

Data and AI provide no value




... if they are separated from actual business functions.

This is probably one of the most common mistakes in Data & AI [DAI] initiatives, which leads to frustration.
Data and AI (unless you are a Data or AI vendor) do not provide direct value.
However, DAI teams are often created somewhere in or near IT, separated from where the magic (i.e. business) is happening.

That way they can't provide business value.
They just keep looking at numbers. Throw out dashboards or reports that no one actually uses or cares about.

If you want to create business value you need to tie DAI directly to business.
And both sides need to take steps into each others directions.
Business stakeholders need to get a bit into data. Understand how their business dataflows are and where the relevant numbers are actually coming from.
On the other side Data teams need to get a certain understanding of the business processes. How is the department operating? Where do we generate value? How can we improve?

If you are just a data person that mindlessly fulfills tickets for more reports you are going to be replaced very soon by a mediocre AI.
If you are in business and caring about you can further improve your process, service or product, you are at risk of getting caught by a competitor who is doing that.

So it always was, currently is, and probably forever will be a team effort!
Tie Data & AI closely to business units.

And yes I am a strong advocate of hub & spoke organizations!

How much dollar do I get back for each dollar I invest in Data & AI?



Or in other words:
- How much value do Data & AI [DAI] generate for the budget?
- What the DAI ROI (return on invest)?

To use the typical consultant phrase:
It depends!

So yes probably everyone in DAI and other fields has heard this question more than once. Most times rightfully.
What do I get for my money, why shouldn't I spend it on other projects.

The expectation is often a very linear one:
For each dollar you spend, you get the same ROI back.

Unfortunately, it's not that easy. And in DAI it depends on a lot of factors (the specific project, team, platform, technology, processes, etc.) and one big thing:
Your data maturity!

Good news: There is a sweet spot, where you can generate great ROI with DAI projects. This requires a certain data maturity in different dimensions, like data literacy in business functions, technological platform, DAI team, etc.

Bad news: Outside that sweet spot creating (additional) value requires more effort. If you have not invested in DAI during the last decades and are playing catchup, you have to build certain capabilities and an understanding for data, before you can harvest even the low-hanging fruits.
On the other side are the top-notch players, and this might seem counterintuitive that the effort there is high but hear me out.
This happens when all the "easy bets" and low effort stuff is done and you are pushing for the last bit of competitive advantage.
All the best practices are in place and you can't optimize much more. This means a lot of your projects become risk-projects because success is not guaranteed. 
A great place to be (because you are doing well) but it's also tricky to operate there, putting effort in the right projects.

So where are you?

Klingt (fast) zu gut um wahr zu sein?
Carlos Perry hat es mit seinem Team hinbekommen. Der erste Entwurf eines HAKRO GmbH Katalogs dauert mittlerweile nicht mehr lange.

Der Schlüssel ein "Product Data Management" (PDM) in dem alle Daten zu den Produkten schnell, systematisch und korrekt auffindbar sind.
Nicht mehr in vielen Listen suchen, Kolleg*innen anschreiben, von Pontius zu Pilatus laufen und viel manuelle Fleißarbeit.
Sondern ein zentraler Anlaufpunkt in dem alles gut sortiert liegt und direkt verfügbar ist.
Natürlich kann man dann noch manuell nachsteuern, korrigieren, anpassen. Aber der Großteil kommt automatisch korrekt.

Das Ding fiel jetzt aber natürlich nicht vom Himmel, sondern wurde über einen längeren Zeitraum auf- und ausgebaut.
Denn die "Keimzelle" war ein PIM (Product Information Management), das allerdings in Rekordzeit hingestellt wurde (Die wilde Geschichte dazu in der Folge, ich will euch nicht spoilern).

Von da aus ging es weiter immer mehr Anforderungen zu erfüllen und durch alle Fachabteilungen hindurch, deren Prozesse und Anforderungen an Produktdaten abzubilden.
Heute ist das PDM eines der zentralen Werkzeuge mit denen HAKRO arbeitet.

Der Kern: Ein SaaS PIM
Der Wrapper: Individuelle Anpassungen und Erweiterungen

Denn auch wenn Produktdaten ähnliche Anforderungen in vielen Unternehmen haben, so hat HAKRO doch einige Besonderheiten.
Corporate Fashion - Das heißt Farbtreue bis ins Detail und damit eine aufwändige Chargenverwaltung
Bis zu 20.000 Shirts auf einmal - Auch bei kurzfristigen Anfragen, das heißt Lagerhaltung für Profis

Genau das was nicht aus dem Standard kommt muss dann eben selbst gebaut werden.
Und genau das hat Carlos mit seinem Team gemacht.

Heute ist das Ergebnis eben unter anderem genau das:
Der erste Katalog in zwei Stunden!

X is no longer a social platform?



Well, I am not the traditional Financial Times reader, but this article is solid gold! (https://lnkd.in/dk6ndcNr)
And it sums up the state of GenAI in early 2026 perfectly.
Wherever there are no guardrails enforced, GenAI is used for pr0n.
From AI companions and fantasy girlfriends to more disturbing things.
Deepfakes of celebrities or just other (mostly) female individuals to even more disgusting things.
Daniel (DataDan) Mühlbauer-Kerber perfectly put it in his post: AI itself is not the problem! It's the (predominantly) male humans (ab)using it.

At X (where I luckily am not active) apparently it took a brutal spin with people just asking Grok in the comments to deliver smut.
And it did!
So indeed X has left the social territory and became a deep fake pr0n generation page.

Of course there was a huge outcry about it and X responded in the most capitalistic and opportunistic way:
Instead of implementing proper guardrails - They built a paywall (https://lnkd.in/dTW_nkwk).
So as Visa and Mastercard banned sites from MindGeek (https://lnkd.in/dtGEhh2s) maybe they will now stop payments to X to save the day?

This shows one more time, that AI governance, AI guardrailing and AI regulation are not always just bocking innovation. They oftentimes are crucial to protect some of our most fundamental rights and especially vulnerable groups - like minors.

Honestly, if a had an X account I would delete it today!

Blasphemy! Yes, but a great one.




One of my (minor) goals for 2026 is reading 12 books. One per month (very trackable).
The list isn't fixed yet and I take it a bit as they come. (the shelf is deep enough)
This book however wasn't remotely on my list. In the AMA session of Tech & Tales, where I had the pleasure of interviewing Elisabeth L'Orange, she sparked an idea.
Elisabeth's target to read more non-business, non-data books, in her case "Die Buddenbrooks" caught me. Then on my recent trip to Lisbon, I discovered this gem by Nobel Prize Winner José Saramago.
70 pages in I can say, it's awesome and a great training for my mind.

Completely off topic.
Totally different style of writing.
A challenge at times.
Enjoyable after getting in.
