I work in Marketing – primarily in the B2B tech sector. But I arrived here through an unconventional career path.

Long ago, I was an experimental physicist with a solid research publication record in superconductivity with stints at Los Alamos and MIT. And I picked up an additional graduate degree in Econometrics and further graduate work in mathematics.

At 24, I founded my first company, delivering technology development projects for Fortune 500 firms at the intersection of physics, engineering, and software. My work spanned robotics, factory and laboratory automation, control systems, sensor networks, statistical modeling & data mining, and early AI platform development (in expert systems, natural language processing, and machine learning)

Along the way, I developed proficiency in more than 40 programming languages (including several assembly languages), learning my first three at 14 while at university in a National Science Foundation Advanced Mathematics Program. I maintain proficiency in about five languages to this day (mostly Python and R)

Mid-career, I transitioned into biotech and retrained in molecular biology and virology. I held roles in technology and engineering (including designing robots that synthesized DNA and proteins) then moved into finance (M&A, turnaround, and restructuring), and held senior management roles.

Eventually, I fell into Marketing and never looked back!

I remain a hands-on marketer – in the trenches running real campaigns. That allows me to stay grounded in the fast-changing marketing landscape. But because I’ve also held finance and executive roles, I understand the importance of business value creation, and can engage with senior leadership at a peer level.

I also bring my scientific background into marketing. I prefer to prove what works, rather than blindly following trends or vendor claims. I know how to set up and run complex marketing experiments and do studies with a level of scientific rigor.

And I can follow and fully understand the academic literature...including the complex works on the mathematics of marketing models. This enables me to develop complex marketing models. Not just the simple statistical correlation models, but highly generalized dynamic marketing models.

This blend of practical execution, scientific rigor, and strategic perspective shapes my work as both a strategic advisor and a hands-on marketing practitioner.
