Anthropic shared a chart this week that I keep coming back to.

It shows the gap between what AI can theoretically do at work and what people are actually using it for. 

Like — in Computer & Math roles, AI could cover 94% of tasks in theory. In practice? 33%. 

Legal is similar. Business & Finance too.

A lot of people read this as: adoption will catch up. Probably true.

But here's what I keep thinking about.
The shift in how people get valued might not wait for full adoption. 
It might already be starting.

Because if the cost of solid execution keeps dropping, then what becomes expensive is the stuff AI can't fake — seeing what matters in the noise, framing the real trade-off, helping a team make a better decision before the third meeting.

Not in a "everyone become a content creator" way. 

More in a "trusted thinking" way. Whether that shows up on LinkedIn or in a memo to five people.

I'm still refining the thesis. But it's the pattern I keep noticing across everything I'm reading and writing about right now.

White-Collar Work Is Entering Its Creator Era (Whether You Like It or Not)

In the age of AI-generated everything, here's what still can't be automated:
People who care enough to show up, pay more than commodity price, and tell others to do the same.

J. Cole's The Fall-Off just debuted at #1 using infrastructure most people have never heard of. Less than two weeks later, Universal Music Group — the world's largest music company — formalized a multi-year partnership with EVEN to operationalize that infrastructure across all their artists.

This isn't a music industry story.

It's a case study in what happens when:
- Distribution becomes free (streaming, social, e-commerce)
- Creation becomes automated (AI flooding everything)

The only moat left is people who actually care

Music hit this phase first. But the pattern is showing up everywhere:
- Newsletters: Top 1% of readers fund the business 
- SaaS: Power users on paid plans, not freemium masses 
- E-commerce: CAC rising, repeat buyers become the actual business 
- Creator economy: Patreon, Discord, Circle — all superfan infrastructure

The dynamic is always the same: when the thing you make becomes abundant, the scarce resource is people who care enough to pay more than commodity price.

UMG looked at this and said: "We need to own the infrastructure."

They're not building it. They're partnering with startups that already have momentum. 
EVEN for direct sales. 
Stationhead for listening parties. 
Complex/NTWRK for superfan culture.

The shift is economic, not philosophical:
Streaming pays artists ~$100/year from casual listeners. 
Direct superfan sales: $825 from an EP. $17+ per release. 
Sometimes 14x streaming cost.

One requires hundreds of thousands of streams. 
The other requires a few hundred people who actually care.

That's not just music. 

That's every category facing commoditization.

The question isn't "will this happen in my industry?"
The question is: "Am I still optimizing for more distribution, or am I building coordination infrastructure for the people who actually care?"

I built a system to run my life on autopilot. 

Now I have 28 pending approvals. Here’s what I learned.

I set up multiple AI agents running 24/7 across drafting, routing, and follow-ups — with a simple mobile HQ to monitor outputs and approve in one place.

Biggest surprise: AI doesn’t remove work. It moves the bottleneck.

The constraint is no longer execution. It’s my attention.

A few lessons from living with this:
• Human review isn’t optional — quality drifts faster than you expect

• Queues + visibility beat clever prompts — you can’t manage what you can’t see

• Trust is built by knowing what it will never do (limits, escalation, hard “no-automate” rules)
It feels like managing a tiny digital staff: design the loop → review outputs → allocate attention.

Most teams think they have a data challenge.

I think we have an interpretation challenge.

In 2026, execution got cheap — campaigns launch faster, AI speeds up content and workflows, optimization is increasingly automated. 

But if everyone can execute faster, speed stops being the moat.

What matters now is who can predict better — before the dashboard confirms it.

If your team keeps getting "surprised" by shifts you were technically tracking, that's not a data problem. That's an interpretation gap.
