….. the 1 most important thing to do, learn, & say: To “skate” past quota….. LIVE from Figure Skating, rink-side in Milan. 🙂🇮🇹



There was a beloved Frenchy sitting behind me, that even makes a cameo—

So I felt right at home. :)







And even thought it’s in Milan—

One of the skaters put on on “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien”……




And me & him both stood up so fast, out of sheer French respect…

You would have thought Macron & Napoleon himself, had just walked onto the rink.

….here’s the #1 most important thing, to make the “jump” from SDR —> AE….. LIVE from the Men’s “long jump”, in Milano. 🇮🇹🙂

….the golden rule of discovery calls (IMO), is when they are talking, to never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever…. cut them off. 

It’s in poor taste.
it’s bad manners. 
it shuts the buyer down. 
closes them off. 



And prevents them from sharing information that’s: 

— critical for proper discovery. 
— incredibly valuable.
— necessary, in order to help them solve their problem, add value, & find their unknowns……





PLUS if you cut them off—

They might just stop altogether…. Because you were the one, to get them “off track”. 🙂

No success, when held long term, is based on luck— and if you want to manage your outputs manage your inputs. 

This Winter Olympics, is the most spread out Olympic games, of all time. 

So much so, that the opening ceremonies weren’t held all in one place.


Basically there’s 5 different regions for stadiums— & basically 1-2 grouping of sports per location.



Which if you want to go to just one sport?
That’s fine.

But if you don’t just want to hit freestyle skiing on repeat, then you have to travel. 




& it’s anywhere from 3.5 hours…. up to 5.5 of drive time, between each. 

And that’s just drive time.



When you factor in cars aren’t permitted unless you have a residence permit. 

Almost no trains are direct. 


Even if you take a train, you have to get to a train/ride… & then take a 45 min. bus into the village. 

Then 30 min. of walk through the town.

30 min. to get through check in. 


& if you have a ticket ON the hill for downhill let’s say, you have to hike up a mountain….

No guard rails.
No ski lift. 

And THEN you’re there.




All doable.
All extremely worth it.

But it all comes down to 2 things: planning & math. 




Backing into the time it will take you to hike up the mountain.
Backing into the time that you have to go through check-in.


Backing into how much walk time you’ll need. 


What bus to take.

The time for Train 3 into Bormio.
For Train 2 into Milano Centrale.


You get the gist.




If you plan, it’s completely manageable.
If you do the math of what you need to do today, to get there in time tomorrow….

You’re 100% fine.



But if you try to do it day of—
Or bank on luck?

It just won’t happen. 





My (short) cheesy, sales tie is, as a seller….
Success comes down to math, but it’s easy to get stuck hoping for the best.



But if you want to control your outputs, control your inputs. 

If you want to close X amount of deals, at XX ARR—
Do the math of the # of 1st meetings you need, to get there. 



If you need XYZ amount of meetings, then break down the math of how many cold calls that means.

How many cold emails that means.

Then break it down per month.
Per week.
Per day. 


And voila.




You don’t have to look at some Herculean number & wince.

The mountain is there, but looking at it won’t help you climb it.


And you can stare at a SQL quota all day, but that won’t move it. 



But if you just do the math…
of what EXACTLY— you have to do, to hit quota….


The game becomes more manageable.





You don’t worry about the big bad number.
All you have to worry about is the small (but CRITICAL) number of what you have to do today..

That will get you there tomorrow.
