The next 12 months are going to wipe out a lot of AI companies.

Over $300B was spent on AI last year. Yet most companies still can’t point to real financial impact. 

We’ve flooded the enterprise market with tools. But is hasn't delivered outcomes (yet).

AI is everywhere. ROI is the bottleneck. And the tolerance for that gap is shrinking.

CFOs are stepping in. Gartner estimates that by 2026, 60% of AI projects will be paused, cut, or heavily re-scoped if ROI isn’t provable. 
> Buying is shifting fast - from curiosity to consequence.
> Sales cycles slow - buying groups now average 8-10 stakeholders, and deals take 30–40% longer to close
> Vendor lists shrink - 50% of CIOs plan to reduce SaaS vendors in the next 12–18 months

“Interesting” products won't get renewed - fewer than 1 in 2 AI initiatives ever make it past pilot

For GTM teams, this is the inflection point.

“AI-powered” doesn’t sell anymore. And vision without numbers gets exposed fast.

If you can’t clearly explain how your product saves money, frees up time, or drives revenue, things get uncomfortable fast.

Everyone’s declaring “SaaS is dead” again. I've seen this movie before.

10–15 years ago, the narrative was “On-prem software will be wiped out by SaaS/Cloud.”

What actually happened?
- On-prem didn’t vanish (in fact, Oracle's share price has crushed the last 5 years)
- The winners adapted
- Distribution, trust, and ecosystems matter

Fast-forward to today, and we’re hearing the same thing about what AI will do to SaaS/Applications: Figma, monday.com, Adobe, and Salesforce share prices are all getting smacked by the markets. 

I’m less cynical. 
Yes, AI changes workflows, pricing models will evolve (consumption vs seating), but incumbents still have:
- Massive distribution
- Deep enterprise relationships
- They’re already the default tools inside companies

Disruption doesn’t mean dinosaur-level extinction. It usually means the rules change. 
The companies that adapt best will (again) be the ones who survive. 

AI disruption will likely be no different.
