Most goals die in February and on Mondays.

In January, goals live on enthusiasm.
A new year. A clean slate. Big plans.

In February, enthusiasm runs out.
What remains is work, fatigue, ordinary days.
And that’s where it becomes clear which goals were real
and which were just well-worded promises to yourself.

Mondays are especially unforgiving.
They don’t ask whether you feel like it.
They check whether you built a system.

The problem isn’t motivation.
The problem is structure.

I didn’t learn this from books.
I’ve had goals that looked perfect on paper:
smart, logical, ambitious.
And those were the ones that died first once January ended.

Since then, in 2026, I look at goals from four angles.

SMART — so the goal is clear and measurable, not a vague idea.
Without clarity, there’s no movement — only the feeling of being busy.

DUMB — so the goal is mine, not borrowed from expectations.
If it doesn’t inspire you, your brain will sabotage it daily.

HARD — so the goal demands growth, responsibility, and effort.
Everything easy falls apart first.

WOOP — so the goal survives its first collision with reality.
Plans that ignore obstacles die fastest.

Goals don’t fail suddenly.
They die quietly — between meetings, deadlines, and exhaustion.

If a goal can’t survive February,
it doesn’t deserve the whole year.

One day I realized something uncomfortable:

It took me years to admit this:
I was a micromanager.

I genuinely believed in a simple rule:
if you want something done right, do it yourself.

I controlled the details.
Double-checked decisions.
Stepped in where I was no longer needed.

From the outside, it looked like commitment.
In reality, it was a lack of trust.
