Most sales emails suck. Mine did too. Here is exactly how we changed that. 

I was pitching exhibitors for an upcoming event (Expo West, let me know if you are going). It read like every other PR pitch on earth. So I stole a play.

I went on YouTube and searched “best sales script advive”. (yes i spelled it wrong)

An Alex Hormozi clip popped up. He explained a tactic called ghost products.

You recommend something cheaper or you tell them what they do not need from you. You do it to prove you are on their side.

So I transcribed the video. Pasted it into AI. And had it create a reusable prompt that rewrote my whole outbound sequence.

If you want the exact prompt, here it is. Copy paste it. Swap the brackets. Use it for any offer.

PROMPT
You are an elite direct response copywriter and B2B sales strategist. Rewrite my sales email using the ghost product trust tactic.
Context
 I sell: [what you sell]
 To: [who you sell to]
 Their goal: [what they want]
 What most people do instead: [option A] and [option B]

 Proof: [2 to 3 proof points]

I've interviewed over 1,000 founders.

So when I find content that actually changes how I think about brand, I pay attention.

I just watched a 6-hour brand-building course by Caleb Ralston. This is what I learned.

Here are the 8 frameworks worth keeping:
1. Brand is a pairing, not a feeling. Branding = intentionally pairing relevant things done consistently. Nike + Jordan. Harley + freedom. What are YOU pairing yourself with?

2. The Brand Journey Framework 4 questions that give you a complete roadmap: What's my desired outcome → What must I be known for → What must I DO to be known for it → What must I learn to do that

3. Define what you WON'T be associated with 99% of people ignore this. The creators who lose trust didn't build the wrong brand — they just never defined what they'd say no to.

4. Find the gap, own the gap If everyone in your space chases virality, owning trust is your differentiation. What is everyone saying that you can credibly disagree with?

5. The Accordion Method Post high volume first to gather data. Once you know what resonates, compress — fewer posts, more effort per post. Most people skip the first step.

6. The 70-20-10 Rule 70% proven content. 20% iterations. 10% pure experiments. The 10% is where every breakthrough format comes from. Most people never protect that bucket.

7. Share knowledge, sell execution Give away your best frameworks for free. Charge for implementation. Make your free content so good people think "if this is free, what are they charging for?"

8. Trust before transactions — always The sequence is: value → credibility → relationship → sale. Skipping any step kills the conversion.

Craziest thing, you can transcribe YouTube videos in YouTube, copy and paste them into Claude or Gemini or ChatGPT. Then ask it to summarize and tell you what it learned. Then have it create a prompt based on the info learned so you can implement this. 

Game Changer!

So many founders are trying to read the room and most of them are reading it completely wrong.

In this episode of Founder’s Story, I sat down with Chase Hughes former military interrogation specialist turned entrepreneur, now known as one of the world’s leading experts in human behavior.

But what shocked me wasn’t body language. 
It was what doesn't matter.

Chase built his company after walking away from a guaranteed military retirement path. He threw away his resume. 

Offered a 200 percent money-back guarantee when he didn’t even have the cash to refund clients. He was literally looking up non-extradition countries just in case he failed.

Not fearless. But Terrified. And committed.

I’ve realized that for most founders, the greatest risk isn’t the market—it’s the safety net we refuse to cut.

When I asked him what trait actually makes entrepreneurs succeed, it wasn’t grit. It wasn’t confidence. It wasn’t discipline.
It was prioritization.

The ability to decide what matters in this moment and sacrifice everything else. Because success isn't just about what you do; it’s about what you’re willing to lose.

So, I wanted to know:
Why most body language advice is complete nonsense
The dangerous myth of “projecting confidence”
The single question that reveals how someone truly thinks
Why technology is outpacing our ability to adapt
How to build instant rapport in under 60 seconds

One thing he said hasn’t left me: “Technology is outpacing our ability to adapt to it.”

As someone who lives online, builds online, and distributes online that hit me hard.

We talk about scale. We talk about AI. We talk about leverage. But we rarely talk about whether our brains are built for the world we’re creating.

After this conversation, I started thinking about my own interactions. Am I trying to “project” something or actually understand people? Am I optimizing for optics or connection? Am I chasing attention or building trust?

But this episode reminded me of something deeper:
Before you lead others, you have to understand humans. Starting with yourself.

If you’re building a company, leading a team, or raising capital this conversation will change how you see every interaction.

HOLY. MOLY! The Founder's Story just hit 800,000 subscribers on YouTube!

This show started in 2020, it was called Inspired by Her, hosted mostly by my wife Kate Hancock WEF DAVOS, a moment that honestly changed the entire trajectory of my life. 

We saw some early traction, slow and steady, and then something wild happened...Clubhouse exploded.

And suddenly, we had an estimated 20 million live listeners tuning in, with some of the most incredible founders and entrepreneurs in the world joining us in real time. The magic wasn't just the guests. It was YOU. 

The audience asks questions live, challenges ideas, sharing their own stories. That interactive energy was unlike anything I'd ever experienced. That's when we rebranded to Founder's Story.

We couldn't record those sessions, one of my biggest regrets, but what it built was something no algorithm can manufacture: a real community.

From there, we took this content and distributed it to TV stations across the country, which is why I've always called this a digital TV show, not just a podcast.

Last week Gary Vaynerchuk sat down with me at Expo West. He held up a box of gummies like it was the most important thing he ever built.

Not VaynerMedia. Not his early investments in Facebook, Twitter, and Uber.
A box of gummies. Sounds crazy right?

But the more he talked the more I realized this isn't about gummies at all.
Gary sees two massive shifts that are about to collide.

He's putting rare stickers inside every box that could resell for $1,000 on eBay. Think Cracker Jack meets Pokemon cards. One sticker. One bag of gummies. A completely new reason to buy.

Live social shopping. 

No retail distribution. No stores. No meetings with buyers. Direct to consumer through live selling. He told me point-blank this is the biggest opportunity in the world right now.

Most founders at Expo West were fighting for shelf space. Gary wasn't even looking for it.

I also asked him what small brands with zero budget should do to compete against the massive booths and big money at events like Expo West.

Be human. Be creative. Be humble. You don't need a booth. You don't need money. You need human skills and the willingness to walk up to strangers.
