Some of you are suddenly wishing for that one job or person, you didn’t even like. 

The manager seemed like he’d be so annoying to work for.  The colleagues seemed competitive and not in a good way. 

But the company went dark, and now suddenly you are interested.  

That’s not a match. 
Yet you are chasing. 

Why do we do this? We do it with men and women also.  

Uncertainty triggers the same part of the brain as physical pain.  Studies show that rejection activates the anterior cingulate cortex.  (Region linked to distress that craves resolution.)

We chase closure.  
But the hesitation is the closure. 

I was chasing a man.  
I didn’t even want him at first but suddenly he liked someone over me. And I wanted to know why? 

Why her? Why not me.  

This is nothing more than a scarcity attitude.  The mind doing tricks on you, thinking I want to win.  I want to win this opportunity. 

You sure? 

You want to win something that’s hesitating? 
I sure don’t. 

Everything you’ve been asking for is trying to find you.  But it can’t reach you while you’re gripping what’s not yours. 

Say goodbye to the hesitating partner.

Don’t waste my time. I have no intention of wasting yours.

I post some edgy things, so I get how they may lead to misinterpretation or confusion.

But don’t underestimate me. I don’t need to flirt with anyone to get business. In fact, I have a wait list.. If you are able to get on my schedule, I’m taking you seriously and you should take me seriously.

I don’t care if you are the CEO of a massive organization. If I don’t feel my time is respected, I will kindly walk away.

If you don’t follow up with your part, execute the contract, or honor what we agreed upon, I will walk away.

If you negotiate ridiculous terms that only desperate recruiters would take, I will walk away.

I don’t beg for clients, and I certainly don’t need to flirt for them.

If you request a meeting just to ask me how tall I am, you are vastly underestimating how much I could have taken your business to the next level.

Sure, we can talk about my height. Or we can talk about important stuff .  Like how to make you money and better than all your competitors.

My time is worth more than questions about my height. 

Back to business. If you are actually serious about hiring, let’s talk. If you have a real investment you are ready to make, let’s talk.

My promise to you is I won’t waste your time, and please don’t waste mine.

PS- Don’t be afraid to set firm boundaries with meeting requests and clients. 

I don’t chase clients.

I’m sorry to anyone I confused.

I built this brand to prove I’m more serious about business, not less.

My days of people pleasing and arse kissing are entirely over. 

Just because you have edge in the professional world, doesn’t mean you should have to apologize for it. 

The next meeting that disrespects my time will be ended abruptly.

My best friend got called back into office.  She went from fully remote to 4 days in.  

She is very type A.  Every Sunday when I talk to her she’s meal prepping her dumb little egg bites for the entire week. 

Which I love to make fun of.  

She also lays out all of her outfits the night before.  

She literally now gets up at 445 am to workout.  

Sunday can almost be considered part of a work day because she’s spending it getting ready for the work week. 

This isn’t a post about Remote versus on site. Those have been over done in attempts to go viral and I’m tired of those posts.  

I think we all know where most of us stand and that is fully remote. So let’s move on.  

My question is not to debate that, it is to ask how we can make it not so miserable.  And expensive. 

For me, and I think if most people are being truly honest with themselves, the wardrobe part for work stresses me out significantly. 

If I had to go back into work, say tomorrow I’d want to do a whole wardrobe overhaul. Because of what work deems appropriate etc. 

I was thinking about how maybe more of us would like going into work if we were actually given like “scrubs” or a uniform.  This takes out the need to impress, and the stress of rotating outfits. 

Did they see me in this shirt already? When is it too soon to wear it again.  Some of you are gonna pretend you are too cool for school and don’t think this way. But I know many of us do 🤣

My best friend who also has a nice wardrobe agrees entirely.  Shes like honestly, that would be nice because picking and buying work outfits is a pain. 

So how do we make on site better? I genuinely think a stipend for clothes, and food, etc.  or you put everyone in scrubs and don’t police anything they do or wear or how they look. 

And if they want a beard for f sakes let them have a beard.  A beard never hurt anyone.  Actually a beard helps a lot of men’s faces if you ask me. 

And some of you should have a beard.  

And also if us women, don’t feel like putting on make up that day it isn’t because we are tired or lazy. Maybe we just don’t feel like caking our face with makeup.  And burning our hair straight every day.  

Going into an office adds hours of unpaid labor that companies pretend doesn’t exist.

People think “4 days in office” means “4 commutes.”  No it means adding an entire category of unpaid tasks. 

This isn’t a location debate. It’s a labor debate. 

It’s a whole second shift that remote work eliminated.

Bottom line is this, if I’m forced to come into an office every day you better keep your mouth zipped if I show up in sweats.   And also I want free lunch. 

And also some days I’ll wear make up and some days I won’t. 

And this my friends is why I was never meant for Corporate America.  

PS. If you and everyone else were wearing scrubs would that take some stress away? Honest answers only.  How can we improve on site arrangements?  

And why is the office always so cold?

Successful people work their asses off.
There’s no way around it.  At least not in the beginning.

I talk to CEOs and Founders all day long. The other day I talked to a CEO who casually mentioned he has houses in four different locations.

And the dork that I am, I asked the super compelling question:
“Which one is your favorite?”
It landed flat. He said, “Depends on the season.”

I internally noted: stupid question… anyway, I digress.

Then he said something that stuck with me:
“I don’t really get to go to the beach houses much, but my family does.”

Ever notice those big mansions on the water? The ones you stop to admire.  But where is the owner.  I’ve never seen him or her. 

Because they’re busy working. Their family enjoys it more than they do.

And just to be clear, success isn’t only about money.

But whatever your version of success is, it has a price. You just have to decide if the price matches the life you want.

I originally thought, “I’ll take on four or five retained clients at a time.”

On paper, the money would leave me insanely
Comfortable. 

The problem?
It leaves me with zero life.
Taking a lot of money comes with a lot of work.

I could outsource it.  
But to me that feels like cheating. 
People are paying for me specifically.  

I know other firms doing that, and I think that’s false advertisement. 

If you want the big money, hard work is the only thing that gets you there.

I’ve had to accept that too.
So here we are.  Another day guzzling coffee down the hatch. Or is it hutch? Another grind with calls literally back to back to back. 

I used to take two hour mid day walks in nature.  I really miss those. But sadly I’m not able to anymore. Too much work to do, which I guess is good. 

But if I’m being honest… sometimes I wish I could just own a t‑shirt shop on an island and pick up surfing.  Ah well. 

PS.  At what point does the grind stop being worth the life it pays for?

Buy a Lottery ticket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It could change your life.  I bought one!!

And I lost.  

But I could have won. And that would have been awesome. 

Of course there are those people saying “I don’t want to buy a lottery ticket.  All I ever do is lose.  They are a waste of money. And I won’t win”.  

They are probably right.  But if you never buy one. You 100% have no chance in winning. 

Plus wouldn’t you rather be the person that thinks they have a chance of winning, then the person who says “I never win.” 

So I’ll continue to waste my money.  
Because one day I might win.  

Go buy a lottery ticket.  And then quit your job.  And then thank me.
