From award-winning high growth technology businesses to successful Sri Lankan street food restaurant groups, I've spent more than a decade building businesses from the ground up and scaling them. This time of year has a funny way of resetting how you see things.

You look back at what felt obvious.
You look ahead at what feels uncertain.
And you realise how often “obvious” turns into “maybe not”.

There’s a concept in science called pessimistic meta-induction.
In plain English: a lot of things scientists once believed very confidently turned out to be wrong.

Which probably means we’ve got a few of those beliefs right now too.

Uncomfortable? Yes.
But it’s also oddly useful.

Because when you apply that idea to to how we work, lead, learn, and make decisions, it shifts how you show up.

It’s not about being right all the time.
It’s about staying open long enough to change your mind.

What feels “normal” to us now might one day be someone else’s “How did they ever think that?”

The people I admire most aren’t the ones who cling hardest to their opinions.
They’re the fastest learners when new evidence shows up.

Less certainty.
More curiosity.
