Drove end-to-end rollout of new marketing plan across all assigned Aramark food units (resulting in 2-year same-store sales growth 6% over plan), in addition to implementing new catering program that grew sales by 10%+.

I once watched a team spend weeks revising the same document.

Each round of feedback was thoughtful and well-intentioned, and every reviewer brought useful ideas to the table. 

The problem wasn’t engagement or effort, it was that each pass pulled the draft in a slightly different direction:

We started a thousand-piece puzzle and left it on the dining room table.

A VP told his team, "I expect excellence from everyone here."

Energy dipped. Output slowed. A few strong contributors began exploring other options.

The VP grew frustrated: "Why isn't anyone stepping up?"

Because the expectation had not been translated into something clear and

✅ Define the standard upfront: "Include analysis, risk, and projections."
✅ Share examples people can model
✅ Give specific feedback: "Solid work; refine the recommendations."
✅ Explain why it matters: "Client-facing documents represent our credibility."
✅ Provide coaching and resources

𝘌𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦.

That VP eventually learned to be specific.

Instead of "this needs to be excellent," he started saying: "Here's what strong 
looks like. Here’s where this could be strengthened. Here’s how we can build it."

Engagement improved. Performance became more consistent. Retention 
stabilized.

I once watched a project stall for weeks, not because it was hard, but because it belonged to everyone and no one.

✅ There were meetings.
✅ There were notes.
✅ There were deadlines on the calendar.

What there wasn’t, was a clear answer to a simple question: Who makes the final call?
