𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀:

💵 $135k US median base salary for in-house GTM Engineers
💵 $60k - $250k range for US
💵 GTM Engineers with coding proficiency command a +$45k premium
💵 26% of in-house GTM Engineers have no equity

While $250k is the high on this survey, I do know that some in-house GTMEs are making $275k. 

Generally speaking, compared to the impact a GTM Engineer can have on a business, I think these numbers are too low.

I was most surprised to see such a large % of in-house GTMEs that don't have any equity in the company. This needs to change big time!

I do believe these numbers will trend upwards over time.

𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗧𝗠 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀:

🛠 CRM (Salesforce/Hubspot) = 88.6% 
🛠 Clay = 83.8% 
🛠 Cursor/ Anthropic Claude Code / AI coding = 70.6%

Combining Clay + vibe coding is taking off.

I've personally been using Clay + Supabase + Lovable to build GTM apps on top of Clay data. And, across LinkedIn and X, we're seeing how how Claude Code use cases have exploded over the past couple of weeks.

Last night Chris Balestras  and I hosted the 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗧𝗠 event at Clay. ~100 operators came to learn how 4 AI startups are building agentic systems to work alongside GTM teams. These were a few of my favorite highlights and learnings:

𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝗮𝗽𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:

ACV isn't large enough to warrant a rep jumping on a call to give a demo? No problem, Karumi (YC F25) agent can give a live demo. Talks to the customer, navigates the site live, opens tabs, answers questions, asks qualifying questions, and so on.

Pablo Omenaca Muro didn't demo Karumi, he let Karumi demo the platform for him to the audience.

𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀:

Most of us have been caught in this predicament with legal reviews:

😖 daily pings to legal to see when redlines will be done, or
😖 outsource the backlog to external counsel and you pay an arm & leg

Crosby has agents that works with lawyers to 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝟰 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀. We use it here at Clay for tons of contracts and then escalate the hairy ones to internal counsel so they are focused on the most strategic paperwork.

𝗚𝗧𝗠 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀 & 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀:

Nic Siegle from Dust showed how he's built agents that generate serious and fun content for customers:

✅️ Knowledge agent (think Glean, but more agentic for building)
✅️ Call prep research & briefings for his manager
✅️ Interactive sites based on transcripts that he sends for customer follow ups
✅️ Custom comics that story tell how the customer will get value from Dust
✅️ Agents to call in Slack for almost any content retrieval across apps

Andrew Pignanelli showed how his Cofounder agent picked up a feature request on a call transcript and then went off to spec and build that feature.

We're just starting to interact with agents.

Now we'll be interacting with teams of agents that can be orchestrated together to run serial processes and use multiple tools.

𝗙𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:

At the same time, many feel like AI has not only reduced the amount of some work, but 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸.
