I've been buying and overseeing ads on Facebook since 2008. I have personally implemented, optimized, and managed monthly spends in the range of $1-5 million and cumulatively I have managed and overseen more than $600 million on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn for brands like AT&T, Toyota, Microsoft, Kraft, LG, Spotify, Hyatt, and many more. I'm comfortable with all objectives and buying types on these platforms, with expertise in branding as well as direct response.

In the last few years, I've been focused on helping grow DTC/startup brands like Hubble, Keeps, Nuts.com, Urbanstems, MoneyLion, Lumin, Cerebral, Wandering Bear Coffee, Flock Chicken Chips, Mirror, Athletic Greens, Spartan, and more.

Meta advertisers: when you report issues like this to Meta, here's the type of language I've found works best to get them to listen and possibly get you a refund/credit:

1. "This is unexpected behavior. We would expect delivery to be more evenly distributed across the day (as observed every other time we've ever done this action)"

2. "This is eroding our trust in Meta’s ability to optimize our ad budget effectively and we expect to be refunded or made whole for this erroneous ad waste. If you want us to trust your automated systems to optimize our budgets and ads, we need you to address this."

3. Provide clear examples of what happened and how it should normally work. Screenshots, dates, etc

4. Have specific numbers of what was lost/impacted. Doesn't need to be exactly correct, but need to show an estimated amount impacted.

5. Always include specific ad account, campaign, ad set, and/or ad ID's. Meta reps are busy and won't know what you're talking about any other way.

Write all of this in a note so you can copy/paste it quickly and easily, when Meta support inevitably doesn't understand and keeps passing you to other support levels.

I know a lot of you will say "lol, they're never going to give you anything" and that might be true, but there's no way they'll give you anything or address this issue if you don't say anything.

There's never been a worse time to say “that’s not my job” or “we’ve always done things this way.”

There's never been a better time to be a scrappy problem solver.

AI is multiplying the impact of people who take ownership, experiment quickly, build systems, and stay curious.

The people rising are the ones who run toward problems, learn without ego, and use AI to amplify their output and their team’s.

The people falling are the ones clinging to job descriptions, perfectionism, old hierarchy, memorized expertise, or protecting their ego.

The winners are scrappy problem solvers.

The losers are anyone still waiting to be told what to do.

The better your product, the more your advertising value compounds.

Obviously that means better LTV, but it also means:

🗣️ More word of mouth
🤝 Better reputation
📈 Lower CAC and/or more scalability overall

Ad impact compounds when your product gives people something worth talking about, buying again, recommending, and defending.

Ever been up past 2am trying to solve client site issues and you tug on a loose thread and realize it’s not a thread, it’s actually a worm?

And then you look down and suddenly it's a whole sweater made of worms and you’re wearing it.

And as the worm sweater keeps unraveling, each worm thread you tug on opens a new can of worms.

And inside each of those cans are more worms.

And those worms in the cans are also wearing sweaters.

And the sweaters on those worms also have loose threads...
