As Manager of Learning Support Services, I lead a dynamic team of full-time and part-time employees, overseeing the daily operations of the campus Tutoring Center while providing leadership support to the Testing Center and Library. My role is rooted in fostering student success by creating a supportive and resourceful learning environment.

Key Responsibilities and Achievements:

• Supervise staff recruitment, hiring, training, and timesheet management, while strategically managing a $100K budget to allocate funds for instructional technology and learning materials that support diverse learning modalities.

• Partner with faculty and academic departments to align services with course curricula, develop standardized operating procedures, and ensure the effective utilization of course materials.

• Collaborate with high schools to organize events and programs, promoting dual enrollment, degree attainment, and accelerated training opportunities for prospective students.

• Played a pivotal role during the COVID-19 pandemic by leading a work placement initiative, and securing employment opportunities for over 20 Federal Work Study students on the Online Tutoring platform.

Charminta Brown, M.Ed.

Dr Gebelein is passionate about applying 21 Century Skills with a creative combination of the "4 Cs" to adaptive learning styles in the educational sphere.  She has  applied technology for use in the classroom, for research and various types of collaboration at local, national and international scales.  She has been an advocator for many years of raising the bar when it comes to appropriate use of technology that fits various models of teaching strategies such as "situated cognition" theory. She firmly believes that data visualization, learning outcomes linked to immersive games, and other active learning techniques can be successfully applied in academia and many types of business approaches.   Dr Gebelein has also been the super administrator for over 100 websites and a technical team at FIU's College of Arts, Sciences and Education.

I am passionate about applying 21st Century Skills with a creative combination of the "4 Cs" (critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity) to adaptive learning styles in the educational sphere.

I have successfully integrated 21st Century Skills into FIU's First Year Experience course, co-led the structural and content-driven redesign of the course, and mentored hundreds of faculty and staff in online technology and best practices. I have also significantly increased the number of fully online programs in the College of Arts, Science and Education, and worked with various units throughout FIU to keep them abreast of changes and policies impacting online, hybrid and in-person education. Additionally, I have led a team of programmers, graphic artists, and students to design immersive learning experiences for technology-assisted learning in mixed reality gaming environments. My mission is to proactively engage, retain, and encourage student progression and achievements with cutting-edge approaches and tools.
