A research team in Germany has introduced an artificial “gill” that could extend deep sea missions beyond today’s battery limits.

Instead of relying on lithium packs, the system extracts dissolved oxygen directly from seawater. A membrane just 4 micrometers thick pulls oxygen from the water and feeds a hydrogen cell battery allowing autonomous underwater vehicles and sea gliders to generate power as they operate.

The upside:
	•	Reduced dependence on lithium batteries
	•	Lower cost and regulatory friction
	•	Potentially far longer underwater endurance

Energy density has always capped deep sea robotics. If this technology scales, deep ocean exploration becomes far more realistic.

What’s the one of the many differences between us and others who foil?

Our technology.

Our tech provides many advantages outside of range (longest range in our category). 

Our flight control system moves our ailerons 50x per second which gives an incredible stable ride. 

We don’t bobble up and down in wake like others do visibly noticeable in any side by side comparison.

You can move forward one side of the boat and around the cabin as much as you like. 

Even in rough conditions where foiling isn’t possible this technology makes us more stable than any other boat in our category. 

What can you always expect from our N30?

A consistently stable and smooth ride.

One common objection to electric boats?

“There’s no infrastructure.”

That’s lazy thinking.

Let’s break it down.

Myth 1: “Marinas aren’t set up for charging.”

Reality: Every serious marina already runs shore power. Pedestals, distribution panels, transformers its already there. 

Myth 2: “You’d need charging stations everywhere.”

Reality: Boats don’t behave like cars. They leave and return to the same dock. Most recreational usage is local and predictable. Overnight charging covers the majority of real world boating cases.

Myth 3: “The grid can’t handle it.”

Reality: Marina load is already managed air conditioning, yachts, shore power systems. Smart energy management and staggered charging flatten demand. Utilities plan for this. 

Myth 4: “Range makes infrastructure irrelevant.”

Reality: Range anxiety is a psychological issue, not a data one. Most day boaters run a fraction of their total range. Electric fits that profile cleanly.

The bigger point:

Infrastructure follows demand.

Slip holders upgrade when clients demand it.
Developers modernize marinas to attract premium boats.
Early adopters drive the economics.

Electric boating isn’t waiting on infrastructure.

Infrastructure is waiting on conviction.

The question isn’t whether docks can support it.

It’s who already moved first and captures the advantage.
