Dating apps were originally meant to help people meet in real life.

Somewhere along the way, many platforms optimized for swipes, notifications, and time spent in the app.

We built Cupid with the opposite intention.

Cupid isn’t there to replace connection,  it’s there to support it.

It helps you plan thoughtful dates, understand your match better, and navigate conversations with more empathy and confidence.

In this example, Cupid suggests a simple first date and explains why it works based on both people’s interests.

Not to keep you in the app.

But to help you get off the app and meet.

Technology should support human connection, not replace it.

That’s the philosophy behind dataing.

One of the most valuable things an early startup can have is honest feedback.

Literally anyone can vibe-code an app today.

Building something intentionally, with real user feedback, is different.

Feedback is how you confront reality, iterate quickly, and build something people actually want.

We just wrapped 8 weeks working with the Gen-Z consulting team at Ascend Consulting Group, alongside talented students from UCLA. 

Their feedback is essential as we prepare for the dataing V2 launch, especially since I'm old and not up to date with Gen Z.

Shout out to Jackson, really crushed it as team lead.

Real signal > paid attention.

Much of tech press is coordinated and paid for. 

So it meant a lot to see Dataing organically featured on The Daily by The New York Times.

No outreach.

No PR agency.

Just a quiet signal that the conversation around AI and relationships is beginning.

At some point you stop chasing trends.

You build long enough that the right opportunities start finding you.

But the next chapter doesn’t have to look the same.

We’re building something different.

The dataing Marketplace will let users get paid from their permissioned, not scraped data.

That unlocks something powerful:

1. Indie developers can build truly personalized experiences.
2. Startups can compete with instant personalization and monetization.
3. AI agents can serve users directly.

If data is the moat, it doesn’t have to live inside a couple companies.

It can belong to the people who create it.

That’s the shift we’re excited and grateful about.

The first transaction just happened on the dataing data marketplace (testnet).

Small test, meaningful milestone.

We’re building toward a future where:

• users control their data
• access is permissioned
• AI agents can pay for the information they use

Still early infrastructure, but the core pieces are starting to work.
