One day, I was getting performance emails saying I was doing great.
The next day, I was fired.

I posted 3 times last week.

My engagement dropped 47%.

So I panicked and posted twice a day for five straight days. You know what happened?

Nothing.

Well, not nothing. My analytics went up. Impressions climbed. The little dopamine hits kept coming.

But the *responses*? The real conversations? They evaporated.

See the algorithm doesn't care about you. But people do.

Every time I obsessed over "should I post daily or 3x per week?"—I was asking the wrong question entirely. I was optimizing for a system instead of humans.

The posts that actually mattered? The ones I almost didn't publish because I thought "this is too personal" or "this doesn't fit the format." The story about failing my first client pitch. 

Those posts sat in my drafts for days. Sometimes weeks.

And when I finally hit publish? *That's* when people showed up.

Because posting frequency doesn't build an audience. Resonance does.

You can post once a month and create seismic shifts in your network. Or you can post twice daily and become background noise.

The question isn't "How often should I post?"

The question is, "What do I have to say that will still matter tomorrow?"

Post when you have an answer to that.

My husband explained my job to the relatives, and I hated that because...


I felt like a child who couldn't speak for herself.

The problem is, we come from a business family. 
They understand products you can touch.

But freelancing? Service-based work? 
Me sitting at home typing on a laptop?
That's not "real work" to them.

They questioned, "What is she actually doing all day?"

My husband would try to explain. 
But the truth is, he couldn't be there every time.

So, I had to start answering for myself.
I simplified it: "I'm a digital writer."
Easier than "marketing strategist" or drowning them in jargon.

But you know what comes with calling yourself a writer?
The pity smile.
"Oh, writing. That's... nice."

And even then—
People would walk into my Zoom meetings.
Mid-sentence. With a client on the line.

Because if you're home, you're NOT really working.
Because in their eyes, I'm just in my room with my laptop. Always available.

That's when I realised:
I wasn't just building a business.
I was teaching people how to respect it.

I had to have the uncomfortable conversations my husband couldn't have for me.

I had to explain, over and over, that my work is real, my time matters, and my business is important.

And gradually, at snail speed, things changed.

Not because people suddenly understood LinkedIn job.

But because I stopped waiting for someone else to validate my work.
I stopped hating that my husband had to explain.

Because now, I explain it myself.
Not perfectly. Not always gracefully.
But in my own voice.

Most people think it's either/or: 
→ Live with family OR build a business

Brainy Baddies know: You can do BOTH.

Here's the system I built to hit ₹1 lakh/month while living with family:

1. All high-level work happens BEFORE I see my family. 
↳ Reviewing client strategies ↳ Writing new content ↳ Deep thinking work

Why? Because once family life starts, my brain gets clouded with 47 other things. I protect my peak mental hours.

2. ALL client calls happen Thursday-Friday only. 
↳ No "quick calls" on Monday 
↳ No "can we hop on?" on Wednesday 
↳ Batched = protected time for deep work

3. I fought for a separate office room.
This was HARD. I had to explain why I needed private space. 
I had to push past "but family shares everything" culture.

See, you need to understand that your environment shapes your income.

Working from the dining table while people watch TV? 
That's ₹30K/month energy.

Working from a dedicated space with a closed door? 
That's ₹1 lakh+ energy.

In 2024, I moved back to India. Got married...

Started building my personal brand BUT...

I had NO idea what my "unfair advantage" was.

Everyone talks about it. 
"Find your unique edge." 
"You are the niche."

But I couldn't figure out what made me different.
Until I realized: I was hiding the VERY thing that made me different.

I was hiding that I'm married.

Hiding that I deal with traditional family dynamics. 
Hiding the constraints/assumptions I work within.

I thought being married would make people judge me. 
Take me less seriously.
And honestly, some did.

But then I got exhausted. 

I realised that just because something has been going on, 
Doesn't mean it REALLY HAVE TO CONTINUE!

These self-imposed limitations were meddling with my confidence. 
With everything I was trying to build.

So, I flipped the script and made my constraint MY BIGGEST advantage.


See, most people teaching about personal branding have full autonomy. 

But they can't teach what I teach: 
Building authority while living with family expectations. 
Creating wealth without burning bridges. 

The lesson here is: 
Stop trying to be another "Googleable profile" on LinkedIn.
Stop hiding the context that makes you different.

Because the moment I stopped hiding my reality and started teaching FROM it—that's when my brand clicked.

And maybe yours can too if you truly understand your edge.

Pack your bags. Leave your home. Change your environment...

Start your business. Network. Scale.

That’s what every business guru says:
But what if you CAN'T leave?

What if you're in a traditional family setting where explaining what you do on a laptop is hard enough—let alone moving out?

See, I have observed one thing: our family wants stability. 
So they want us to take a job (in most cases)
But business is a self-chosen challenge.
That's the tension.

So here's what you can do instead: 
Start with your Minimum Viable Product.

One client. ₹10,000-15,000.

That small amount becomes PROOF. 
For you. For your family questioning you.

And then gradually ₹10K client becomes your first ₹1 lakh client.

Remember, you don't need to blow up your entire life to build a business.
Make small tweaks. Build proof. Scale from there.

Is my daily average screen time. 

Here's what that actually means:
2.8 hours × 365 days = 1,022 hours per year.
That's 42 full days.
An entire month.
Gone.

Scrolling Instagram reels.
Watching videos I don't remember.
Saving content I'll forget tomorrow.

Meanwhile, my reading goal?
52 books last year.
I finished 25.

Then I did the math:
20 pages takes 25 minutes.
20 pages daily = 7,300 pages yearly.
Average book = 300 pages.
That's 24 books.

From just 25 minutes.
The time I'm already wasting.

So I made a trade:
Morning scroll → Morning reading.
Lunch scroll → Lunch reading.
Night scroll → Night reading.

Three 25-minute blocks.
Stolen from my screen time.

Now, I'm on track for 50+ books this year.
My brain fog disappeared.
My focus came back.

See, you're not too busy to read.
You're too distracted.
Your screen time report doesn't lie.

What could I become with that time back?

I read 25+ books last year while married and building my business.
Yet, most people I talk to tell me...

"I don't have time to read."

If that sounds like you, YOU ARE LYING TO YOURSELF!

Because here's what's actually stealing your time:
→ Scrolling disguised as "research"
→ Being busy disguised as being productive
→ Consuming content disguised as learning

In in all this time, you can READ a new book. 

See, I want you to understand that reading isn't a hobby. 
It's a business skill.

And here's how it works: 
Reading → Better attention span → Better focus → Faster execution

Reading → Synthesising ideas from different domains → Asking better questions → Writing better content → More authority → More clients

Let me give you a personal example proving my point: 

I work with VC and investor clients, right. 
And last month, I picked up the book "The Psychology of Money". 
Now the book helped me ask relevant questions that led to viral content for them. 
A win-win scenario.

Also, if you can't sit still and absorb information for an hour, 
You can't focus on business either.

The work that should take 1 hour takes 3. 
Not because you lack discipline. 
Because your attention muscle is weak.
Reading builds that muscle.

2 years ago, I thought making money required saying yes to everything.
Now I know it requires saying no more often.
Here's what happened last year:

A client came to me wanting Instagram management. 
₹40K/month retainer. Good money. Consistent work.

I said no.

The result? 
→ I lost ₹40K/month in revenue 
→ My peers thought I was crazy 
→ I had to explain to them why I turned down "good money"

But I did it anyway; here's why:

Instagram management has layers LinkedIn doesn't:
Editing ✅
Reel strategy ✅
Content approval ✅
Story sequencing ✅
Video shoot coordination ✅
Community management ✅

Now, I am married, okay? And I realised: 
I can't build wealth AND burn out doing work that drains me.

The results 6 months later? 
→ Better clients 
(I became THE LinkedIn strategist, not "the social media person") 

→ More time and energy for MY business 
(your business shouldn't become a hamster wheel) 

→ Stronger positioning 
(when you say no to everything, people know what you say yes to)

So, most people think: "More services = more money"
But only Brainy Baddies know: "Right services = right money + right life"

I still refer those Instagram leads to trusted partners. 
They win. The client wins. I win.

But I don't do work that multiplies my stress while dividing my focus.

To stand out as a creator, you need to have a named enemy. 
You need to have a vision and anti-vision that can help you cut the noise. 
And build a brand world that truly matters.

LinkedIn went through a new update, and here's all you need to know about it: 

The update is called 360Brew, and it is:

✨ An improved AI that understands your profile, content, and interactions, unlike older systems that handled tasks separately (posts, jobs, and connections).

✨ A professional human reader that assesses content for clarity, authenticity, and expertise, looking for deep insights rather than vanity metrics.

I spent 4 hours making my first vision board. 
Found the perfect images on Pinterest. 
Perfectly aesthetic. BUT…

Perfectly... someone else's life. 
Blonde girl in a minimalist apartment. 
European influencer at a café.
Not one of them looked like me. I hung it up anyway.

Looked at it every day for 6 months. Nothing happened.

Because I was trying to become someone I couldn't even see myself as.

That's when I realized: 
Your brain won't build a reality it can't picture YOU in. 
Vision boards fail when you pick aesthetics over identity.

Here's what actually works: 
Split your board into 4 quadrants: 
→ Mind (books you're reading, thoughts you're having) 
→ Body (movement, health, energy you want) 
→ Soul (relationships, meaning, connection) 
→ Work (projects, income, impact)

Then the hard part: Pick images where you can SEE yourself. 
Brown hair if you have brown hair. 
Your skin tone. Your body type. 
Or faces you can't see at all.
I redid my entire vision board.

Found images of women who looked like me or photoshopped them.

Last year, 80% of it came true.
Not because the universe is magic. 
Because my brain finally had a target it believed in.

So remember, your vision board isn't a Pinterest mood board. 
It's an identity blueprint.

I spent months on LinkedIn:

→ Reading the same "how to grow" posts for the 47th time
→ Gaming the algorithm instead of actually building a craft
→ Comparing my writing to AI-generated content on the platform

Then I asked myself a question that kept me up for days:
Does any of this even work anymore?

Here are my two cents: 
Everyone's panicking about AI. 
The algorithm changes monthly. 
The "formula" for viral posts is chaos. 

I'd stopped enjoying writing because I was too busy optimising for the feed instead of developing my actual craft.

I couldn't tell the difference between AI-written and human-written anymore. 

My storytelling felt generic. 
I had no framework for using AI as a tool without losing my voice. 
And my mindset was completely metrics-focused instead of mastery-focused.

So I made a decision.

2026 has three pillars:
1. Storytelling Skills: 
Rebuilding how I write. For humans who can feel the difference.

2. Using AI Dangerously: 
Leveraging it as an accelerant, not a replacement.

3. Mindset Mastery:  
Why I write. Not the metrics.

A ₹10,000 transaction froze our entire business for over a month.

This is not a rant but a real incident that shows how fragile systems can be for honest businesses.

Here’s what happened.
In November, we supplied goods to a long-standing customer we’ve worked with for over 15 years. Everything was clean.
We received ₹15,000 as payment. No red flags.

Unknown to us, that customer had supplied goods worth ₹10,000 to another party in Chennai. 

When the Chennai party couldn’t reach them for two days, they panicked and filed a cyber fraud complaint.
Understandable.

The moment contact was re-established, 
the complaint was withdrawn the very next day. 
There’s written acknowledgement of the closure.

Business continued normally. 
Repeat orders happened. 
No disputes.

And then, one month later, our bank account was suddenly frozen.
Why? Because the original complaint triggered a chain reaction:
Chennai -> Our Customer -> Us -> Our Vendor and so on

Despite the complaint being closed, 
the investigating officer didn’t send an NOC to the banks.

Result? Our primary account is frozen from early Decmeber till today!
No purchases. No payments. All funds stuck.

For over a month, we had to reroute operations, explain ourselves to vendors, and manage reputational damage: all because of a complaint that no longer existed.

The most frustrating part?
We were told: “Come to Chennai if you want this resolved.”
For a ₹10,000 issue that was already closed.

Eventually, the first party even went to Chennai themselves. The NOC was finally sent. 
But even then, the bank took days to “process it internally”.

Emails unanswered. 
Multiple branch visits. 
Endless follow-ups.

I am not here to rant about any government.
Governments change but systems don’t 
because systems are run by people.

The same officer stays. 
The same process repeats. 
The same helplessness exists.

I’m not blaming the customer. 
I’m not blaming the bank alone. 
I’m pointing at a system where lakhs of honest business funds can be frozen over ₹10,000 without accountability or urgency.

This is what breaks trust. 
This is what scares small and mid-sized businesses. 
This is what silently damages goodwill.

If we want businesses to thrive, systems must learn to differentiate between fraud and fear-driven complaints and close loops responsibly.
Because honesty shouldn’t come with this cost.
