I am Italian, I live in Lithuania with my family (including a Boston Terrier).

You are in Šnipiškės (Vilnius), it is 1997. ⭕ 

The first foreign bank opened a branch in Vilnius (the Polish Kredyt Bank).

Almost 30 years later, Lithuania is one of the main Fintech hubs in Europe.

What happened?

2013-2016: Lithuania starts positioning itself as an EU fintech gateway: transposes PSD/PSD2 early, trims red tape, and promotes English-language supervision.

2016-2018: Lietuvos bankas | Bank of Lithuania enables companies to get an EMI (Electornic Money Institution) license in 3-6 months (vs 6-12 months in the rest of Europe)

2018-2020: Lithuania becomes #2 in Europe after the UK for number of electronic money institution (EMI) licenses, with 80+ EMIs operating here.

2020-2022: There are 263 EMIs in Lithuania and they employ 7k people (according to Invest Lithuania). Revolut obtains a full banking license in 2021.

2022-today: There are almost 300 EMIs registered, the regulator proved to be both friendly  and high standard when it comes to compliance. 

A neighborhood, just north of the river Neris, is de facto the City of Vilnius.

I’m happy to share that I’ve obtained a new certification: KICKOFF™ Predictive Project Management from Project Management Institute!

On July 16th I created Club Italiano. ⭕ 

Event creation was relatively new to me but I decided to give it a go.

Here are some lessons:

🌿 Remove the initial friction

When you are creating an event you instantly think about how to let people know and what is the best platform. Deciding can take some time, this is why I am thankful to Joiner. Joiner helped me create the event in less than 5 minutes and attract people I would have never have known otherwise.

🏳️ People own Marketing, not you

As much as you try to position yourself, particularly in the beginning, and have a few ideas on how things should go and look like, in the beginning a lot of what happens is shaped by people around you and their contribution. I tried to always listen and adjust. 

🍎 Every product is a platform

This mental switch enabled me to see people interacting through new lenses. The event was no more the point, the people in it became the point. This was a powerful lesson that resonated beyond my expectations. 

We went from 30 to 100 people attending our events.

Every conversation is a an opportunity. 🗣️ 

A while ago, preparing for an interview, I had the chance to discover and study Camunda, an open source automation platform that is being used together with AI to bring Agentic AI within companies across the globe (particularly in sensitive sectors such as banking and healthcare). 

It was the first time I got closer to see how enterprise organizations are embracing the agentic phase of their lives.

Corporate end-users and AI: a lesson learned. ⭕ 

OpenAI's UX has become the golden standard for what the man on the street thinks AI looks and feels like.

Is that a good thing?

☑️ On one side of things, the fact ChatGPT UI is modelled around the common experience on search engines pre-AI surely favours the early majority adopting quickly the technology (100M users in 3 months from launch).

🟥 On the other side, I sense the current UI limits the potential of AI but I cannot yet see what the agentic ultimate interface will look like, or at least I sense there will be many ideas before there will be a single way of doing it (sounds fascinating, right?)

Personally, I think we are all victims of the normalcy bias. 👈 

We think the future will look like the past, because “it has always been like that”.
