My wife and I are expecting our third kid later this year. 

And it's weird, because six years ago, we weren't sold on having any kids. 

We loved our dog, made fun of parents, and thought kids were annoying. Giving up freedom and spontaneous vacations wasn't an appealing idea. 

But then the 30s happen. Time became a factor. Babies became cuter. And soon enough, number 1 was on the way. 

It was supposed to stop at 1. One is manageable. No need to go crazy and have more.

But then, more thoughts. "It would be nice for him to have a sibling. Might be lonely to be an only child."

Then #2. 

2 is it though. Taking care of 2 kids is absolutely exhausting. There's never a need to go over 2. 

But #2 gets a little bigger. More thoughts. 

"It's sad that she's no longer a baby. We will never take care of a newborn again. Our life is already ruined. A third kid probably can't make it any worse?"

Now #3 is on the way. 

Does it make fiscal, logistical, or any kind of rational sense?

Absolutely not. 

It's a terrible idea for already exhausted and stretched parents. When our two toddlers are destroying our house, I realize what fools we are.

But biology is a b*tch and makes you do dumb stuff. 

On the other hand, I'm super excited. The five minutes after my first two kids were born were some of my happiest moments. I'm looking forward to experiencing that feeling one last time. 

Because 3 is it. We're not going to be some kind of psychos and go for 4.

I've been seeing this style of Figma graphic everywhere. Vincent's taken over LinkedIn, and he's earned it. 

Infographics aren't my thing, but this trend got me curious. How hard are these to make?  

So, I stalked Vincent's LinkedIn posts to try to figure out the secret formula. He actually puts most steps in his posts, which I love. I know he has a cohort, but I'm too cheap and stubborn. 

So hard is it to make these? 

I'm a Canva pro but pretty weak in Figma for background:

-In total, it took me 3 hours. I'm sure that would be drastically reduced if I did it again. Once you have templates for yourself, I am assuming it's plug and play
-The color selection is actually the trickiest part; everything has to be the right pastel. 
-Figma has a mild learning curve, and I kinda hate the UX. But honestly, it's easy once you figure out where the right buttons are. 
- Jitter for animations was relatively easy but a little clunky 

Would I make more of these? 

Not for LinkedIn. Video is my passion, and time consuming enough. But kudos to Vincent and everyone who is killing it with these. 

And I see value in every PMM learning more about design. Marketing teams are shrinking. The days of us just doing positioning/messaging are long gone. 

Just this week, I had to make an infographic for my job. 

So, taking the time to learn more about Figma and basic design is smart.

I'm building a PMM video game this year.

I've been thinking about what big fun side project I want to do in 2026.

During my break, I played Undertale, a 2D RPG classic with super funny dialogue. 

After playing, I thought, "Could I make a product marketing-themed game like this? How hard would it be?" 

I did a deep dive, and the answer is very hard, but possible. 

So, I'm moving forward and mapping out a crazy game. 

What will this video game be:
- 2D RPG game where actions have consequences and different endings
- The protagonist has to solve PMM puzzles and battle evil B2B characters
- Ridiculous dialogue and super niche PMM bubble jokes 

Given the complexity, I'm giving myself all year to build, with a release date in December. 

So, why am I talking about this now? 

To get y'all excited and to put pressure on myself. I work harder once I commit to something on LinkedIn.

I hit 4k followers last week! 

I promise I won't let it go to my head.

I don't hate PMM cliches. I just hate the universal application of any idea.

I often make fun of PMM bubble culture and our mantras like "clear over clever."

But most ubiquitous PMM advice is true on a fundamental level. 

The problem arises when these principles are applied with no regard for the situation. 

Most traditional PMM advice assumes idealistic scenarios. And most influencer advice is created by consultants who are appealing to early-stage startups. 

So, if you are working on a dysfunctional team at a company like Amazon, it's a disservice to use a PMM clichés playbook.

When evaluating PMM advice, ask:
- Does this principle apply to my current situation?
- Who was the original creator speaking to? Does that gel with our company's size and market position?
- Is this advice realistic given our setup?

The fundamentals are often a great starting point. But there are no hard rules, PMM gods, or universal best practices. 

PMMing is weird. Each situation is different and needs tailored approaches.

But that eternal puzzle is why the job is fun.

If you see my content and think, "Who's this weirdo? What's his deal?" 

Happy to answer! I was born with a condition called being an a-hole. 

The doctors said there was no cure. 

That I’d live a life of a contrarian. Constantly mocking authority and the status quo. 

And my early years were a struggle:
➖ Kicked out of Catholic school in 6th grade for talking back
➖In high school, I was assigned a book report on medieval venereal diseases. Instead of presenting facts in front of the class, I decided to make a humorous song on the topic and sing it in front of everyone. I got ISS for that one. (Why the teacher gave me that topic is beyond me)
➖Ran for school treasurer, but was forced to drop out for making a mockery of the process 

The trend continued in college. Frat boy Stefan is below. Those stories aren't LinkedIn appropriate, but he was a jerk. 

But I met my wife in college, who I credit with my recovery. 

Through tough love she taught me to manage my symptoms and use my cynical powers for good. 

Now I live my life as a "reformed a-hole". 

I maintain a contrarian mindset, but with more kindness and compassion for others. 

And it's my superpower at work:
- I don't accept anything at face value. Everything needs to be validated.
- I don't buy into trends. Original thoughts always beat out groupthink.
- I always want to be different. Which is never a bad marketing trait. 

But what's my deal, though? Why do I make so much parody content?

Humor is a compassionate way to be an a-hole. It's the ultimate way to make a point. 

If you directly criticize, you hurt others. If you point out flaws through laughter, you make people think without breeding contempt. 

Humor is my medicine, but also the world's best communication tool.

Can y’all give me 10 more followers so I can do a big, pretentious 4k followers count video?

I live for influencer moments like that.

I'm back, and my brain is in that adjustment phase after a December break.

My thoughts this morning:
- What do I do again? 
- Oh yeah, that sounds boring. Why did I choose this as a career?
- Do I have enough money to just retire? 
- (Checks bank account) No, sh*t. 50 years to go
-(5 minute existential crisis)
- (Checks Slack) Ugh, why were people working over the break? Now I have to play catch-up. Just be normal and take the end of December off
- Oh crap, I forgot. I'm also a cringy influencer and need to do LinkedIn stuff
- What do I post about? Do I still know how to write? What's even the point of posting? 
- Screw it, I'm just going to write a crappy joke post and hope no one hates it

"What's your proudest work accomplishment?"

I never liked this question, because my true answer is sappy and doesn’t fit the expected response. 

The answer is supposed to involve a project with dollar figures attached. 

And projects are fun. I love what I do. But they aren't my proudest accomplishments.

Because it's just a project. Who, at 85, looks back fondly on a time they reduced churn by 20%. 

Those moments are fleeting and don't have a lasting impact on your memory or life. It's why I barely remember details of any project over a year old.

So, what do I remember? What's had an impact?

The people. The work relationships. 

I'm most proud of mentoring and having a positive impact on others.

As a seller, my favorite part of the job was when someone wanted to break into sales, and I got to teach them sales 101. Even better, seeing them get the job and start crushing it. I feel the same way as a product marketer now.

Helping others and making the office a less cold place is what has given me purpose.

But that's my true answer, and not very corporate. So, don't use that in a response. 

Stick with the "I'm most proud of increasing MQLs by 30%. I can't wait to tell my grandkids about it someday."

What’s your biggest work challenge?

Most people: Achieving cross-functional alignment across different departments

Me: My Mac has no USB-A ports! I can’t plug anything into my damn laptop without a clunky adapter. I can’t work like this!

My kids love Danny Go!, But I may love it even more.

It's because of the obvious parallels between B2B and kids songs.

Most B2B is the same
Most kids songs sound the same

B2B marketing mostly appeals to end users
Kids songs only appeal to kids

And the are both insufferable at times. 

But Danny Go! spits in the face of the traditional kid song format and dishes out bangers that even adults enjoy. 

They write all original songs, instead of recycling "itsy bitsy spider". The music videos are psychedelic and wild. And the beats just hit. 

And it's genius because parents and kids will both love it. 

So, if my kids don't give me a clear answer on what they want to watch, you better bet I am turning on Danny Go! 

I love seeing creativity in traditionally dull industries. 

It gives me hope. If Danny Go! can make a club-worthy kids song, what's our excuse?
