Nuclear, geothermal, and fracking were all invented in NM. Makes sense to have it be the energy hub of the future.

Advice I would give my child if they were in college right now:

1 - you can't seize an opportunity you don't have. Focus on getting the offers, not which one you would accept. 

2 - nobody knows what they are doing or how the world will look, so even a few hours a week of extra effort learning and working with AI will put you miles ahead. 

3 - learning changes threats to excitement. Yesterday a dentist in my neighborhood built an AI setup with his son who is studying accounting. His son is excited, many accounting students are scared. 

4 - I truly believe the future is bright, even if bumpy.

There is a direct correlation between how much time founders are spending with AI and how seriously they take the changing future. There are moments every week that require rethinking everything.

AI is going to force reindustrialization in the US even faster than expected. Capital and talent will be looking for a place to go as belief in pure software is compressed.

One state is going to figure this out. Open the doors to data centers while demand is white hot, set up long-term tax plan, and get the equivalent of Alaska and New Mexico oil added to your state budget.

Really great opportunity for deeptech startups that need more derisking in the lab.

Excited to announce Plaza's pre-seed round! It's been a crazy year filled with a lot of personal and company growth. In the last year I welcomed my third child (3 kids under 5, FTW!), moved my family and GetPlaza.ai from Utah to Tennessee to honor the Brickyard handshake, re-structured the team and re-underwrote our engineering team to be AI-based, drank unhealthy levels of caffeine, started coding, lost a loved one, and made new friends in Chattanooga. A monumental moment for the team at Graza today. It turns out it’s incredibly difficult to make mayo using only olive oils, but that’s what we do here at Graza. If we can create things that add next level flavor, made from ingredients we believe in, we work tirelessly to make it possible. Our fancy mayo is the first mayo ever made exclusively using an unrefined oil, being our extra virgin olive oil. 

What started as just an olive oil company, is evolving quickly into something much larger and magnificent, and I’m honored to work alongside our incredible team in this next phase of our growth. If I were launching a new fund today, I’d hire a Head of Content before an Associate. That might sound backwards, but hear me out.

Unless you’re coming from a top-tier brand or you’ve built a credible personal platform, the sourcing engine for a new fund is basically… nonexistent.

And you can’t invest in great companies if you never see them.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot while watching a new wave of funds start as media properties first, then layer on capital once the audience, trust, and distribution are already there:

• The Pitch → then The Pitch Fund (Josh & Lisa Muccio)
• Packy McCormick → Not Boring Newsletter → Not Boring Fund
• Turner Novak → built a huge social audience → then started Banana Capital
• Sophie Purdom → scaled CTVC to 70k+ subs → raised $50M debut fund
• Started as 20VC Podcast → Harry Stebbings  just closed a $400M+ fund III

This isn’t a coincidence. Distribution is a massive unlock, especially for emerging managers.

→ It’s how founders find you before they’re fundraising
 → It’s how you build trust at scale, not one coffee at a time
 → It’s how you create real affinity and fandom with the right builders

Every LP eventually asks the same thing: How do you actually ensure that you see the best companies?

VC has always been about access. What’s changed is how you can earn it.

I spent years working with brands like The Wall Street Journal, and one thing became very clear... great media doesn’t just inform. It builds taste, trust, and muscle memory. People come to you because you’ve already earned mindshare.

The funds that win won’t just be good underwriters. They’ll be the ones founders already know, follow, and believe in before the round is live.
