Considering a rule of not investing in any 2x+ founders who didn’t send regular investor update in their previous company. 

The best founders I have worked with (and would back again) all did them, or at least called regularly, regardless of the outcome of the company.

Pretty good Black Friday. I saved…. all of my money.

New team members can increase speed in execution, but destroys speed in decision making, fixing core problems in a business, gathering feedback, etc. 

> Feedback loop gets longer (time). 
> Adds layers (dilution) between founder and data, customers, etc. 
> Too many people to keep happy in each decision (burden of proof goes up). 

Leaves founders a few options when decision making and data collection is most important:

> Don't hire anyone, reduce the team size. This is increasingly a great option given AI or if the founders just need a little more time to dial in. 
> Choose someone who can take the wiplash and just do the work, but they have to be extremely fast. 
> Choose someone who is a founder in their own write but within the org, but they have to have extremely good judgement.

My wife looked entirely fine, but she was silently falling apart. Her untold story of this destructive disease for 10+ years.

This is a story my wife would never publicize, 
Not because it isn’t important.

But because she’s too humble,
too private and too focused on others.

But I got her permission to share it, 
because someone needs to hear it,
so they can have hope.

When you live with a soul-sucking disease, 
(which happens to be Lupus for her),
There are so many hidden battles. 

These struggles most can never see, 
nor can others begin to understand. 

For my wife, Lupus attacks her joints and her organs.

It drains her energy, 
It leaves her feeling exhausted,
like her body is failing her on a daily basis.

12ish months ago,
we meet with a gifted doctor, 
he said something that caused us both to cry. 

“Your energy is like an old person who is sick. How are you getting out of bed every day?”

Her adrenals and body were failing her, 
That’s how severe her symptoms were.

It takes courage to learn to let go of responsibilities.

To allow others to step in,
and carry what you used to lift.

It takes humility as a parent, 
to feel like you’re falling short,
not because you don’t care deeply, 
but because your body physically can’t.

To fall asleep just by sitting down, 
not because you’re lazy, 
but because you’re utterly exhausted.

To wonder and ask yourself hard questions. 
Is this just my life now? 
Will I ever know what “well” feels like again?

An useful analogy,
that might provide a glimpse into this world:
Most people say pregnancy is so hard on woman’s body.

For my wife?
Pregnancy was when she felt the best, 
because the lupus went into remission.

But here’s the part that gives me hope,
and I want it to give you hope too.

Today, my wife is on a path to full healing. 
Like true and permanent healing.

We’ve seen miracle after miracle.
It has been nothing short of a gift to watch it unfold. 

And even when she was at her worst,
She kept showing up for our kids, for our family and herself. 

And that quiet resilience and determination?
It’s one of the reasons she’s my hero.

To anyone else out there struggling,
with some invisible struggle, 
mental, emotional or physical:

If you’re in the middle of it waiting, 
navigating the pain,
Please hold on.

We get your struggle. 
You matter to this world.
You are not forgotten.
And please don’t give up. 

Miracles rarely show up like fireworks.
they often arrive one little ray of light at time, 
like my wife did, quiet, steady, and full of resilience.

The world needs you.

You’re not weak for being tired.
You’re not broken because you struggle.
You are stronger than you know.

You’re capable of doing incredible good, 
even while fighting a hard battle.

I know this because my sweet wife,
does it every single day. And her impact? 
It’s already shaping generations.

The good she will do is just beginning, 
And your journey is just beginning as well.

My daughter cried when she heard the news, 
we would no longer have regular steady income. 
My answer? This 1 piece of paper. 

Recently, the company I worked for,
underwent a restructuring, 
one I fully aligned with and support.

In the process, 
my role was completely eliminated.
At that moment, I had 2 options.

1. Find the next opportunity that aligns.
2. Answer the call I’ve felt God prompting me toward for years.

After serious prayer, powerful promptings,
and some unexpected divine connections…
I am choosing to take the leap of faith. 

But I am not doing it alone, however, 
I asked my wife if we could hold a family council.

We gathered the kids and asked 2 questions:

2. What can we cut back on as a family and lower our burn rate?
3. How can we all support this vision together?

That conversation led to this paper.

It’s a simple sheet, 
but it holds the signatures of our children (most of them)
It's their way of saying

“We’re with you, Dad.”

God has prepared us for this moment,
It felt powerful and aligned, 
to cut back on expenses for a minute. 

Since this decision, 
something is shifting in our home.
Our kids aren’t just watching me build, 
they’re helping me do it.

They’re asking better questions, 
offering more intentional support,
finding small ways to contribute.

This isn't just a business journey, 
it’s a family one.

So if you’re building something new:

Don’t build it alone.
Don’t shield your kids from the hard stuff.
Let them be part of the process. 

Because when you give them a chance, 
they will show up in ways that will absolutely floor you.

They don’t just become spectators.
They become believers and supporters. 
They become your partners.

Because when you build together, 
You can become unstoppable.

(Personal favorite idea, power the house with stationary bike). 
Kids have such brilliant minds.
