I co-founded Proofpoint alongside my husband Mike in 2017. As part of the executive team, I oversaw the day-to-day operations and helped to build the long-term vision for the company. As Chief Experience Officer, I had the privilege of shaping all the experience touch-points for our stakeholders, from managing the People and Culture function, to hiring and recruiting, as well as the overall client experience from onboarding to offboarding, and everything in between.

I have recently stepped down from my position to focus on my health and family and I'm currently taking a career break.

In August 2015, I went into pre-term labor due to severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome and delivered my daughter via emergency c-section after a week of hospital bed rest. She was 24-weeks gestation and weighed 11 oz (330 grams) and measured 10.5 inches at birth. 

Shortly after her birth, I lost my job and became a full-time Stay-at-Hospital-Mom. We had a long road ahead of us. My daughter Lana spent 6 months in the NICU, and when she was finally discharged, she was brought home on continuous oxygen and a feeding tube. 

I went from being a Stay-at-Hospital-Mom to a Stay-at-Home-Mom and a full-time caregiver to a child with medical needs and a complex medical history, none of which was in my career plan!

I'm blessed that I was able to do this for my daughter and for our family. It taught me very valuable lessons and ultimately led my husband and I to starting our company, Proofpoint Marketing.

I left the corporate marketing world feeling drained, disenchanted and wholly disillusioned about what I could actually do and affect in a large organization. I decided to go out on my own as a consultant and the experience was thrilling! I learned so much as an independent marketing consultant, and also helped my clients make a real impact in their marketing.

Alas, working on a such a small scale also had its challenges. Little did I know at the time that this experience would translate into something bigger, greater and different than all of my prior experience combined.

One of my clients offered me a full-time gig and I accepted. It ended up being a really bad fit and a bad situation, but I still maintained a few other consulting clients on the side.

I lost my full-time job and left my consulting business after the premature birth of my daughter in August 2015, and became a Stay-at-Hospital-Mom, as she spent 6 months in the NICU.

•  Manage and collaborate with agency partners to execute content strategy, creative elements, and meet and exceed annual KPIs.

• Implement SEO best-practices across social channels, and through organic and paid initiatives, grew employer brand social media channels by more than 400% over a 14-month time period.

•  Oversee community management for brand and product social channels, as well as manage and execute the content strategy and platform development for the company's YouTube, Pinterest and Instagram channels.

•  Manage day-to-day responsibilities of the blogger outreach program.

•  Provide guidance and mentorship to customer service digital team members, to ensure timely, on-brand and best-in-class customer service experience across social channels.

•  Currently launching an employee social media task force to help scale internal engagement, awareness of social initiatives and company-wide achievements and events.

•  Developed a national influencer plan for the employer brand channels as a way to partner with well-known and highly-regarded HR and talent acquisition professionals in order to increase awareness and recognition of the Sleep Number brand. Plan is currently on-hold due to company priorities and budgets.

•  Updated company's online commenting policy and merchandised within the organization.

•  Engage effectively with cross-functional teams and collaborate closely with colleagues in marketing, talent acquisition, customer service, product development, logistics and fulfillment, and legal services teams in the development and execution of social programs.

• Created a comprehensive social media guidebook for Target executives and their families. The guidebook is being used to help senior Target team members and their families understand and navigate social media safety and online reputation management. 

• Analyzed existing Facebook application, "Give with Friends", and provided recommendations to help develop new social experiences with manager, utilizing social platforms and components across internal and external channels, ensuring an innovative and consistent guest experience. 

• Reviewed and provided recommendations for a Target-branded Facebook photo application to allow the guest to print their Facebook photos directly to Target stores, based on the best practices and successful models of existing apps. 

• Supported the management and analysis of a proof-of-concept blogger affiliate program. 

• Launched and managed a major research initiative of third party social media platforms for review by and implementation for the Target social media community managers. 

• Synthesized team’s frustrations and limitations of current platforms and created a matrix of needs and wants, to better articulate and present the team’s goals both internally and externally. 

• Researched dozens of third party platforms, and presented top recommendations to team based on criteria outlined. 

• Scheduled and coordinated on-site vendor demos and reviewing RFPs to help finalize the decision-making process.

• Conducted daily review of competitor brands, inspirational brands and social media headlines for strategy, planning and brainstorming sessions.

Was responsible for day-to-day and long-term coordination of agency activities and client contact for interactive/digital projects, including websites, email marketing, online advertising, social media, mobile development and creative development. Was also responsible for scheduling, tracking, risk analysis, cost management, variances, change management, evaluating and managing projects.

• Strategized, wrote and executed segmented email campaigns and conducted post-campaign analysis.

• Managed the online communication, including social media and PR efforts, for agency’s largest national account, Red Cross Racing—a loyalty rewards program for American Red Cross blood donors and NASCAR fans.

• Successfully acquired and managed the Twitter account for the Red Cross Racing program; organically grew followers by 260% over a 10 month period. 

• Successfully acquired and implemented a Facebook sweepstakes application, Facebook fan page, social media content calendar and sweepstakes microsite for prominent 3M brand. 

• Conducted monthly analysis, generated client reports and provided quarterly strategy and revitalization plans for continued enhancement of social media efforts. 

• Relaunched company website and identity within the first six month of employment.

• Managed creative process and employer’s expectations; established new standards for agency’s identity; translated new look and feel to agency’s business collateral.

• Managed development of the website and ensured strict adherence to budget, timeline and aesthetics. Since launch of new website and identity, visits to the site have increased by 86% and bounce rate reduced by 28%. 

• Involved with new business acquisition, including strategy development, proposal writing and client presentations.

• Cultivated new revenue streams totaling more than $20,000 per month above the retainer for three prominent accounts within the agency, within the first six months of employment.

I'm a lifelong marketer turned accidental entrepreneur. 

I wasn't looking to start a business in my career. In fact, I didn't really have much of a plan for my career to begin with, other than climb the corporate ladder, reach more management positions and increase my net-worth. All by the age of 35.

Well, life never really turns out the way you expect, does it?

My husband Mike and I started our business after our daughter Lana was born at 24-weeks gestation in August 2015. We were in the midst of an unforeseen family crisis and looking for stability and safety in our career during a time when everything in our life was unstable and so very uncertain. We faced much turbulence, and worse—indifference. So we set out to forge our own path—one that was exceptional and radically different from what we knew and what was out there. 

After a challenging pregnancy, a life-threatening birth, a long 6 months in the NICU, medical equipment, numerous hospitalizations, doctors appointments, months of early intervention and therapy, mounting medical bills, and the need to be close to home while also fulfilling our professional and financial needs—Proofpoint Marketing was born. 

As Chief Experience Officer, I have the special privilege of shaping and overseeing every single People Touchpoint at Proofpoint, and that starts with the employee experience—from hiring and onboarding, to growing in your career, and even offboarding. Every action and detail matters as we strive toward our vision of creating an inspired workplace by transforming tired and outdated norms.
