Honestly. 

I thought it was a bomb at first.

And then my 2nd thought was a heart transplant mistakenly shipped to my door.

It was heavily duct taped, heavy and ominous looking. 

Then I unwrapped it and viola….

Perfectly cold ice cream as a thank you for our work together. 

I don’t think I’ll ever forget it. Lol

I’ve recieved booze, cigars, coffee beans, tshirts, mugs, coasters…

But never ice cream. 

I think I stared at the dry ice much longer than I should have. Crazy to think we can ship stuff like that. 

Anyways, I ended up crushing two pints in a day.

It’s been a season of collaboration in my world lately. 

And it’s been really refreshing and eye opening and has given me these short bursts of growth. 

I’ve been working with Tony Albrecht and his wonderful team inside CONTENDER on a cool project. 

Let me tell you. This man’s dedication to the CRAFT of post writing is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. 

He once worked with another staff member for 5 hours perfecting a single post. 

At first, I was like… that’s an overkill. 

But then I realized, it perfectly fits his vision for the company. 

They only put out the best for their lawyers.  

Period. 

It actually made me slow down on some of my client content and take the extra step. 

Pretty fascinating, really. And I’m grateful. 

Been operating in my silo for such a long time. 

It’s really rare to run across someone you can talk shop with about post writing. Easily one of my favorite meetings of the week. 

Very pumped for what him and his team are building. 

They are litterally owning the lawyer vertical on here. 

There is no way to catch up to them. 

 On another front Drew Mabry brought me in to work on positioning for one of his clients. 

What they sell is a challenge for me. 

It’s easily one of the boringest products I’ve ever had to position in my life. 

I can’t tell you what it is unless Drew does. 

But it’s basically a piece of plastic.  

Literally. A piece of plastic. 

And I pulled an overnighter to make it more than that. 

It’s a system. 

Ahhh I’ve said too much. One day I’ll do a case study on it. 

But it’s fun working with your friends. 

And a lot of pressure. 

It’s one thing to want to deliver something good to the client and it’s another not to screw it up for your friend’s client. 

But I’m feeling a rejuvenation this fall. 

Been craving these types of collabs.

Let me spit some game at you. 

Forget about giving value. 

Worst lie ever told in B2B content marketing. 

No one wants your pithy takeaways. 

No one wants your “here’s what my kid taught me about B2B sales”. 

No one cares. 

Least of all buyers of B2B services. 

Take this picture for instance. 

These are 30k audits.  

Do you think they have a backfill of audits because they shared value in their content. 

I mean … really?  

The only thing sharing value benefits are LI coaches or course creators. 

They are mostly selling educational products or services. 

Write this down. 

If you want to sell B2B services online. 

To perfect strangers. 

They are not looking for how smart you are. 

What they are looking for is …

Do you understand my problem?

What problems have you dealt with in the past that are similiar to my problems?

What is the process you take to solve this? 

Do you have proof your process works for me?

Are we a fit? 

Who have you worked with in the past? What were their numbers? Are they similiar to me? Can you show me? 

So, if you just give a lot of helpful tips and tricks and dance around results …

You’re going to be shuffling your feet a lot on here.

Let me be clear. 

I never chase virality nor do I help clients do that. 

But... I always chase the "How Do I Hire This Guy" effect. 

Always. 

Because, otherwise, what the heck are we doing here?

Please spare me the "tHis Is mY coMmUNitY! I dO iT FoR loVE!"

I have one simple goal on here... to get you hired. 

And I try to do that through the positioning of your services plus the messaging. 

It's simple in concept. 

Hard in execution. 

You've heard me talk about this. All content, no matter the platform, no matter what year it is. Follows three very simple pillars. Sometimes you need to blend them, sometimes they stand on their own. Hitting them routinely is vital, and requires a bit of artistry. 

1) Show

Show people what you know. How you came to know this. Where were you before you knew this. This isn't a value dump. This is a chance for you to explain your thought processes. In B2B services, you're a dime a dozen when it comes to knowledge. But you're 1 of 1 when it comes to your experiences. 

2) Grow

Your account grows when you inject it with a bit of emotion. This is the place to do that. Hot takes, mic drops, rants, personal stories (of any flavor), poking the bear, etc etc. Don't be boring. 

3) Get to know. 

Yea, this is social media. We're not onboarding an AI Bot. Who are you? Where have you been? What concepts are you wrestling with? What's your origin story? What is your future story? How do you approach XYZ?

98 percent of all content in all feeds on all platforms is just a bunch of talking heads type of value vomitorium of information. 

The way through is to cut through the noise and become the signal.
