Back in 2014, I started developing an interest in international development. A few trips to Western Sahara and the largest slums in Asia and Africa opened my eyes.

Since then, I've spent a large chunk of my spare time volunteering and collaborating with non-profits. I started a local chapter of Engineers Without Borders UK and ran it for nearly 2 years. I organised events with over 50 changemakers. I became a Trustee for a homelessness charity for over a year. I went 3 months volunteering as a Team Leader in a rural village in Nepal. 

Some people spend their life looking for their purpose in life. I was lucky enough to find it at age 25. 

My purpose in life is to change the world / make a difference / make an impact / help those who need it the most / eradicate poverty / end climate change / call it however you want. 

And I've realised that the most impactful thing I can do as an individual in my life is to help connect changemakers so that they can join forces and amplify their impacts. That's why I started Good Ripple - because we do need the good ripple effect that happens when 2 changemakers come together - the power of people gets unleashed. 

I'm committed to dedicating the rest of my life to helping those who need it the most, through empowering the people who are already helping them. And I believe TechForGood is the key to achieving the SDGs by 2030.

As a Principal Project Engineer, I draw on my track record of working and collaborating with stakeholders, I apply my design and project management expertise to create innovative and practical solutions for complex projects that enhance the fabric of our community. These projects range through the full spectrum of infrastructure and facilities that would be expected in a city of 70,000+ population - roads and utilities, residences, schools, health care facilities, police and fire stations, colleges, public buildings, sports facilities and retail centres. 

My key responsibility is to coordinate the development and implementation of the engineering portions of assigned projects. This includes:

• Developing scope of work for design tasks in coordination with the TSS and stakeholders.
• Coordinating the preparation and issuance of Task Orders (including review of AEs technical and commercial proposals).
• Managing the overall design from concept, Design Development (DD) and Construction Documents (CD).
• Working closely with the AEs and reviewers, providing necessary coordination for data acquisition, and third party reviews.
• Technical evaluation of potential bidders for contracts on assigned projects, and in recommending shortlists of qualified contractors. 
• Managing the review of design drawings, specifications, manuals, shop drawings, vendor data, calculations and other technical information submitted by A/E construction contractor for all phases of the contract.
• Supervising and coordinating activities of Project Engineers and other assigned personnel.
• Coordinating with PMD progress reporting and evaluation for the assigned projects Manages AE Consultants contracts when assigned as the Authorized Representative (AR).
• Providing technical support during the pre-award stage including but not limited to Bidders Q&As, addendums, bid evaluation, the release of final IFC drawings etc.
• Providing post-award support during construction.

Principal Project Engineer

As a member of the Technical Support Section within the Engineering Department I was responsible for providing support to all projects, as well as Providing effective leadership and technical assistance for Civil Engineering to subordinates and peers. I interfaced with other engineering disciplines, project staff, other departments, A/E representatives, and construction contractor representatives.

As Principal Supervising Engineer, I provided professional support to the program projects with emphasis on promoting and maintaining the technical adequacy, uniformity, and quality of the project designs in conformance with approved standards and codes.

Expedition DNA started in 2018 and aims to accelerate the digital transformation. The program focuses on creating an innovative mindset and developing digital capabilities within Arcadis. It contains a virtual online learning platform and a face-to-face experience.

This program enables Arcadians to act upon digital client opportunities in a more effective way and allows them to staff their team in an impactful manner when it comes to projects that require an innovative mindset and digital capabilities.

During the 4,5-day Expedition, attendees:

- Deepen their understanding of the digital transformation
- Develop digital and innovation capabilities related to a specific area: Customer Experience, Data, Ecosystems and Platforms

Expedition DNA

Project Manager responsible for the delivery of infrastructure design services for the Umm Salal Mohammed Phase 2 project. The scheme is located in the Umm Salal Municipality, approximately 20km to the north-west of central Doha consisting of 873 hectares including private land. The site is a mix of existing residential villas and compounds, commercial developments, schools, mosques, farm land, utility plant, park land and open space.

- Planning, leading and managing the project and design team to efficiently and effectively meet goals and objectives
- Initiating on-schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations
- Managing risks / problems, identifying and developing options to resolve issues by providing cost effective innovative technical design solutions for schemes
- Allocating / utilising resources, ensuring technical and commercial excellence through application of QA processes

Project Manager

WSP in the UK

- Responsible for the design management and coordination of four project teams delivering asset management improvement works (carriageway resurfacing and road marking renewal on the A12 and A120 in Southeast England) on behalf of Highways England
- Accountable for the production of Scheme Appraisal Reports for a variety of safety measures which were proposed to be implemented on the A34 between the M4 Junction 13 and M40 Junction 9 to address issues with driver behaviour and road safety
- Spearheaded the design management and coordination of the outline design of four city centre junctions, which were to be reconfigured from roundabouts to signal controlled junctions.

Highways Design Lead:  Key Stage 3 (Preliminary) Design of the A465 Sections 5 and 6 Dowlais Top to Hirwaun Dualling. 

This scheme consists of the dualling of the remaining section of the A465 to a dual two-lane carriageway. The proposed design includes a number of grade separated junctions, provision for pedestrians and cyclists and several new major structures. There were a number of challenges that the design had to overcome, including existing constraints (e.g. at-grade junctions that restricted traffic flow and affected reliability, poor safety record, limited opportunities for overtaking, etc.) and the transition between the urban and rural sections of the route.

Responsibilities included: -

Responsible for establishing, developing, managing and providing technical support to a growing roads design team in Canberra. Other duties included business development, client management, establishing and developing client relationships, project management, resource allocation, cost control and reporting and preparation of fee proposals/tender submissions.

Project Manager – Casey 2 Springbank Rise (Lend Lease) 

As project manager for the delivery of the final six stages of Casey 2 Springbank Rise Residential Estate (approximately 353 residential lots), my responsibilities include: -- 

- Coordination of the relevant authorities government agencies, consultants and contractors;
- Procurement of a competitive tendered civil contract to deliver the final three stages of development;
- Establishment and management of the development master programme incorporating the construction and titling;
- Confirming the development budget and management of project costs; and
- Obtaining title leases for individual lots in preparation of settlement by the purchasers.

Project Manager – Infrastructure Design Mugga 2 Quarry Remediation (ACT NOWaste)

Provision of upgraded civil infrastructure to facilitate the use of Mugga 2 Quarry for the disposal of Virgin Excavated Natural Material (VENM).
 
As the Project Manager on this scheme, my responsibilities included: --

- Client Management (e.g. progress meetings, weekly/monthly reporting, managing expectation, etc.); 
- Stakeholder Liaison (e.g. Government Agencies, Service Authorities, Leaseholders, etc.);
- Resource allocation and programming;
- Monitoring financial and commercial performance (e.g. cost/progress against program, variations. etc.); 
- Ensuring delivery of the required design and documentation against program and budget; and 
- Technical support, verification and guidance.

Senior Roads Engineer / Manager

While working for Hyder, I have had the opportunity to consolidate my technical skills and enhance capabilities in project management, client liaison and management and design management and co-ordination. 

The following are a brief selection of some of the projects I have worked on while with Hyder: --

I was employed by WSP Developments as a Senior Engineer. In this role I was responsible for assisting the Highways Principal with establishing and growing a highways capability to support and integrate with the transportation services being provided to residential housing developers.
