It's one of those nightmare stories. 

My best friend accepted an enterprise sales role for $330k OTE. 

Several months in, he said “3 reps out of 50 hit quota they’re planning to hire 30 more reps in the next 12 months”

They closed 3 funding rounds in 12 months so they HAD to scale headcount. 

BUT THIS SHIT IS MIND BOGGLING?!?!?! 

How do you plan to make any seller happy with attainment like this?

It’s SO easy to get blinded by high OTEs. 

I fell into this trap before. Never again.

7 days ago i made a tiktok account

today i have 478k views, 2,500+ followers, and 18.4k likes...

i imagine this will make $1-4k/mo in 3 months. 

so what's the tiktok about?

i review chicken wings

on a hunt to find THE BEST chicken wings in wisconsin

and documenting it all. 

here's my plan for it: 
- for lunch + on weekends go to tons of wing places
- make a video review 
- collect emails for people wanting wings recs 
- take the transcript, turn it into a detailed review for a newsletter
- get ad placements for restaurants + wing companies 
- make passive income all from eating food 

i'm building this all on beehiiv.. 

the site, the newsletter, the email strategy, the ad placements.. all with beehiiv.

this makes it to where i don't have to spend much time at all on email acquisition + monetization 

i've already had 4 wing restaurants offer free wings for a review. 

who doesn't like free food? 

it took me 1 minute to think of "i want to eat food for money" then about 2 minutes to create a new email, create the tiktok account, and start posting about it. 



remember, there's a shit ton of opportunity out there. 

you just gotta create it.

i f-cked up when I started posting on LinkedIn.

i thought I was doing it right.. 

i wasn’t..

if you're familiar with LinkedIn creators, you know Justin Welsh.

a linkedin icon who makes it seem possible for anyone to make millions by posting.

back then, he made a post at 8:15am ET every morning.

at 8:14am I sat on his page and when the clock hit 8:15, i would refresh and immediately comment.

i got around 50 likes for every comment and started getting 10-20 followers a day.

OMG MOM im getting famous!!!!

nahhh, wrong.

almost every person that followed me didn't give a shit about me, what i was posting, or anything but a follow back

they didn't care about prospecting.
they didn't care about tech sales.

they cared about their follower count.

i was in a routine of gaining followers, not building a network.

once I realized how dumb I felt by having "inflated" numbers, i immediately stopped. (around 6k followers)

so how did I start gaining momentum?

1. i kept posting things about sales.
2. and posted more and more about sales .
3. tons of engagement. burnt out 4 times in 18 months.
4. i gave without expecting anything in return.
5. the more i wrote, the better my writing got. 
6. i changed how i created content. i stopped posting "how to" and started posting "how i" content. stuff chatgpt can't come up with

i posted 2x a day for almost 365 days straight.

3 years later, i still post almost 2x every day (except weekends). 

that's when things started clicking.

realized it came down to 3 things:
- consistency
- repeating the same message different ways
- quality content

my recommendation: 
- post a lot
- create a compelling hook
- truly believe in what you're posting
- only engage with people you'd want to sit down and have lunch with.
- or a beer with lol

i make it incredibly hard to talk to me

to talk to me you need to: 

- fill out a form thats not simple
- share your tech stack
- explain challenges 
- and be transparent about your pain

then from there, you need to dedicate an hour of calendar time after the form. 

its not simple. 

on purpose. 

i do one hour long conversations doing a deep walkthrough of a company's tech stack and challenges. 

and a handful of companies aren't a good fit. 

thats' why i make it hard.

to save you time, and myself.

was on a call with 4 SaaS CEO's yesterday

here's what's working in outbound for us: 

cold calls (if you're doing it) 

and one off manual emails. 

we all have complex AI workflows set up 

we're all doing what linkedin shoves down your throat

but at the end of the day 

it's manually reaching out. 

one CEO said "my founding AE switched to manual emails this week and has booked double the meetings"

she's insanely creative, she does genuine research, and she makes it extremely easy to work with her. 

started working with her and LoopLabs Co  about a year ago to edit the entire two dads in tech podcast & create short form clips. 

they've been amazing to work with and very understanding (like when i send them a 1 hour podcast recording that needs to go live in 8 hours, they get it done)

but don't do that ^ 

horrible practice and that falls on daniel and i. 

anyways, will continue to use them for video editing + podcast editing for anything moving forward.

I built 4 side hustles. 2 were acquired & 1 got funding which I now run full time. Here's my honest thought about building a side hustle:

They will more than likely hurt your performance at work.

And depending on how successful the side gig is, it will definitely hurt your performance. 

Now, some of this depends on what it is. 

I think side gigs can be really fruitful and "easy" if it's a course or anything that you stand up once and don't really have to touch.

But most things outside of that..

Massive chance it'll screw up your W2 performance. 

Especially if your passion is in the side gig, which for most aspiring entrepreneurs, it is..

For me I built: 
→ Softleap: prospecting training for startups (this was really time consuming) 
→ Vocul: business professional only fans (acquired & required lots of attention) 
→ Refurl: B2B SaaS (was doing well but it was a full SaaS platform so you needed to do onboarding, selling, fix bugs, etc..)
→ Dimmo: Software marketplace which I'm running now full time (because i was focusing so much time on it) 


Every. 
Single. 
Time. 

that I started to get traction/customers for the side gigs, much of my focus would immediately go there and be taken away from my W2.

I know its not only me.

I've talked to many side-gig founders and they're in the same boat. 

They're hoping the side gig gets big enough to where they can leave and go full-time. 

It's just the truth that most aspiring entrepreneurs don't want to admit.

my biggest red flag is that cash feels like free money.. does that make sense?

Cold calling. 
Video prospecting. 
Social selling.

Go-to-network.
Gifting. 

Every single one of these methods will help you generate pipeline if you do it right.
