Founder

Hydro-Vac, Inc.

HVI has been a family-owned and operated company since 2001. In 2020, Caleb stepped in on a truck and worked part-time at night and on the weekends to learn what it took to run the company from an operational and business standpoint. Caleb has started and sold his small businesses, so his experience as a young entrepreneur transfers over to his role at HVI.

- Caleb oversees ongoing business operations within the company. 
- Jobsite crews and office staff report directly to Caleb. 
- Caleb is reporting directly to the CEO.

Currently, Caleb oversees close to 20 employees and 7 service crews.

Chief Operating Officer

- Directing the day to day operations. 
- Directing 6-7 crews, fleet vehicles, and managing 12-14 people.
- Online job bidding and estimating. Proficient in several construction softwares.
- Fielding all company / customer calls and emails.
- Assisting in recruiting new employees, fielding resumes to the CEO
- Running advertising ads across platforms. 
Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, and web platforms.
- Overseeing the Hydro Excavation division; invoicing, billing, vendors, and health & safety program.
- Daily, weekly, and quarterly reports for various organizations. Such as DOT, FMSCA, and various Unions.

- In 4 months, I have assisted in hiring, onboarding, and training 2 full-time crews. 
- Bringing in an additional 50-100k gross per month. 

- In 6 months, I completely took over bidding/estimating. 
- Largely contributing to the 400% increase in net income for the company.

I learned about the 7 Stages of Growth (7SG) model in 2019, then quickly became certified. 

It was an honor to acquire the 7SG toolkit, methodology, and assessment process. We now carry the torch for a community of experts supporting business leaders. 

The 7SG certification process teaches a business advisor a research-backed framework to support business leaders and their teams.

I was engaged initially for a turn-around, then partnered with the founder, and eventually exited.

The business was about to close its doors. Things were rough. Twenty employees wondered each week if they would have a pay check. 

We stabilized the business and grew it, quickly.

At the peak, the business employed seventy-five team members for a range of maintenance and installation services. Business growth was strong and the work quality was great. I was not. 

We almost grew the business to death and it was taking the health of some key team members and me down with it. Something needed to change.

I joined a peer group. 
I found a mentor. 
I focused on my own education and leadership skills.
I rekindled my passion for supporting business leaders.

I started, grew, and exited a field services business.

I had left a role managing 65 field employees and front-line supervisors in what turned out the be known as the Great Recession! 

Getting the business off the ground took a special kind of effort. Primarily serving homeowners, there was A LOT of door-knocking. I pushed on. Field work during the days, managing multiple crews, sales appointments in the evening, proposals when the rest of the Florida was sleeping, start over the next day. At one point I was working 7 days per week. 

I grew the business, then marketed the business for sale myself when I was left unimpressed by business brokers' support. This was my first business sale transaction experience and my first experience growing and managing a business myself, end-to-end.
