HVI has been a family-owned and operated company since 2001. In 2020, Caleb stepped in on a truck and worked part-time at night and on the weekends to learn what it took to run the company from an operational and business standpoint. Caleb has started and sold his small businesses, so his experience as a young entrepreneur transfers over to his role at HVI.

- Caleb oversees ongoing business operations within the company. 
- Jobsite crews and office staff report directly to Caleb. 
- Caleb is reporting directly to the CEO.

Currently, Caleb oversees close to 20 employees and 7 service crews.

Chief Operating Officer

- Directing the day to day operations. 
- Directing 6-7 crews, fleet vehicles, and managing 12-14 people.
- Online job bidding and estimating. Proficient in several construction softwares.
- Fielding all company / customer calls and emails.
- Assisting in recruiting new employees, fielding resumes to the CEO

- In 4 months, I have assisted in hiring, onboarding, and training 2 full-time crews. 
- Bringing in an additional 50-100k gross per month. 

- In 6 months, I completely took over bidding/estimating. 
- Largely contributing to the 400% increase in net income for the company.

Direct collaboration and act as the principal communicator for for internal product and process development teams.  Drive interactions between Suppliers and Purchasing to initiate design engagement from the supplier to have a positive impact on manufacturability, quality, lead time and cost.  Drive culture change of cost ownership to the Design Owners.  Provided opportunity analysis to determine where to spend time to meet cost reduction goals.

Co-wrote and published  specifications for paint and preservations of Electric Rope Shovel products.  This allowed the specifications to be called out on the drawings eliminating all guess work for suppliers, manufacturing, dealers, and customers for the condition of product.  This task alone has significantly allowed the team to understand costs associated with Enterprise product quality.

Collaborated and trained multiple suppliers on the the conversion of Bucyrus to Caterpillar standards.  reviewing hundreds of drawings and specifications with them to ensure products meet the intended design requirements without increasing costs or manufacturing difficulty unless truly needed.

Responsible for Subcontract Manufacturing, supplier development, people development, cost, and schedule attainment for Rotary Blast Hole Drills, Electric Rope Shovels, and Draglines.  Product and process ranged from general machining, to 200K pound weldments, heat treat, metalizing, logistics, fabrications, castings and forgings.

Commodity Manager-Subcontract

Responsible for subcontract manufacturing and direct purchase of products.  Areas of responsibility included, heat treat, machining and/or welding of components from 0.5 pounds to 210,000 pounds, purchase of light fabrications, maintain cost structures, routing, and lead times.  Needed to understand suppliers business and whom we were competing with for time on machines.
