Once upon a time, I was leading a team of exceptional designers and art directors. The one weakness we had was copywriting. I created this headline-writing exercise on index cards to gamify creativity with words. My team loved it. It broke the ice at meetings. It was uproariously fun. And it made us more creative when we had real work on our plates. After a few years and prodding from my team, I decided to make it a real product and launched on Kickstarter.

With over 15 years of experience in creating award-winning out of home ads for media companies, I founded Up To Something, a two-person shop that helps mid-size brands and small businesses get the most out of out of home advertising.

I also believe creativity can be improved through play. I created Wash-a-Pig  a headline-writing exercise that gamifies wordplay and sparks imagination. It started as a fun tool for my own team and grew into a successful product used by creatives worldwide. Wash-a-Pig is more than a game, it's a mission to inspire and empower creative thinkers.

It’s funny when your creative partner comes up with one of your favorite ads of all time. 

Richard Molinaro non-chalantly turned his laptop toward me and showed me this cowboy lassoing the ProDough packet. 

 It hit me right in the gut. I still get happy tinglies when I look at it. 

This is one of my favorite campaigns to date. No copy. Just interesting visuals that make you go hmmmm ohhhhh.

OOH creative that makes you freak. — Then makes you feel. — Then makes you famous.

We worked with ProDough on their new 100% grass-fed beef protein powder.
We let it cook. Until medium rare.

The concept: put the packaging in situations where you'd normally find a cow. 

No tagline. Didn't need one. 

Why is a cowboy lassoing a protein powder? Oh. Because it's beef. Ding. Core memory unlocked.

Two executions are live now on digital bulletins in Utah. Three more concepts are in the works, including a cross-street where you're not just watching the rodeo. You're dead center.
