A few months ago, I worked with a company convinced they needed a signing bonus to close a critical hire.

My passion for real estate began in 2010 when I started accumulating passive income from my first rental property in Southern California, while still practicing civil-structural engineering as a full time job. Throughout the following decade, and using my engineering and management expertise in construction and value-add projects, I consistently  invested in rental real estate and built a strong cash-flow portfolio. During this time I simultaneously built another highly successful multi-unit, seven-figure service business from scratch in Southern California that led to the inception of the private equity firm now called Liberty Capitus.

I’m commonly asked what I would recommend to new investors or busy professionals that would like to move away from Wall Street and begin investing in real estate. 

My answer is always the same, and an emphatic one, “start passively investing in commercial real estate.”
