If your pipeline strategy fits into a tweet…

it’s probably not a strategy 😅

I get why we chase quick fixes.

One magic channel, or one AI tool that’ll hack your market without having to put in the work.

Sounds good, doesn’t work.

Here’s the part people usually skip:

The real pipeline gets built in the boring middle

the messy work between “send more emails” and “add another tool.”

Nobody glamorizes that part, but it’s exactly where everything changes.

So I put together a quick cheatsheet to show the real difference between:

What people think pipeline building is

vs.

What it actually looks like when it works

Is it more effort than a tweet-sized hack?

Yeah.

Does it actually build a predictable pipeline?

Also yeah.

The #1 reason top reps close more deals?

They know when to stop.

Not stop caring.

Not stop trying.

Just… stop grinding themselves into dust 😅

Here’s what I’ve noticed:

Average reps stay in hustle mode 24/7.

Top reps go hard when it matters —

and then they actually unplug.

Because in sales, your energy is your edge.

You can’t run sharp discovery calls when you’re running on fumes.

Top reps protect their energy the same way they protect their quota.

They show up fully - then they close the laptop, touch some grass, and recharge so they can do it again tomorrow.

Most "growth brainstorms" are theater.
They feel productive. They add 0 to pipeline.

Every team I worked with has a Notion doc with 𝟱𝟬+ 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀 ready to "test".

The problem is never ideas.

The problem is:
• No clear owner
• No real priority
• No criteria for killing bad ideas
• No link to actual metrics

So teams run 1 or 2 half-baked experiments, nothing moves, everyone loses faith, and they slide back into random tactics.

The fix:

1️⃣ Cut the list to 10
Force the team to choose:
• 3 high impact / high confidence
• 3 high impact / low confidence
• 4 "nice to have"

Everything else goes in the trash.
Not backlog. Trash.

If an idea is important, it will resurface. If nobody mentions it again, it never mattered.

2️⃣ Attach 1 owner to each experiment
Not "growth team".
Not "marketing".
𝟭 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁.

If 2 people own it, nobody owns it.
The owner runs setup, tracking, and the decision to scale or kill.

3️⃣ Define success before you touch anything
Not "let's see how it performs". That is how bad ideas live forever.

Example of a clear rule:
• "We run this for 2 weeks. If demo to opportunity rate goes from 20% to 25% or more, we keep it. If not, we kill it."

You should be able to decide in 10 seconds if something is a keep or kill.
If you cannot, the rule was not clear enough.

4️⃣ Review experiments weekly, not quarterly
15 to 30 minutes. That is it.
• What did we start
• What did we stop
• What did we learn

If nothing is being stopped, you are not experimenting. You are stacking work on a broken system.

Good growth is rarely about a genius idea.
It is about being 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 with where your team's focus goes.

You do not need 10 new ideas.
You need to kill 10 old ones.

Just got back from last week's Zero Click by Profound (the biggest AI Search event in Europe) and the big theme was clear:
from ChatGPT to Google AI Overviews, AI is becoming the default path for how B2B buyers discover, shortlist, and choose vendors.

According to Profound’s research across billions of prompts,

89% of all B2B buying decisions are now touched or influenced by GenAI.

In the old SEO world, the journey looked like:
search → navigation → intent-building → buying decision → transaction

With GenAI in the middle, that’s getting compressed into:
query → recommendation → transaction

The assistant does the research, comparison and shortlisting.
You either show up in that flow, or your competitors do.

Most teams are obsessed with one question:

Wrong finish line.

Yes, AI visibility matters. Being in the AI answer is better than SEO in 2010.

But that's not where you win or lose deals.

The real gap is what happens after AI sends you the lead.

Winners are doing 3 things:

Cut forms to the minimum needed to qualify
Let qualified buyers skip straight to product and pricing
Compress steps so a ready buyer can go from AI answer to active user in 1-2 touches

They treat AI as the new top of funnel.

Then rebuild everything after for velocity, not internal comfort.

The new competitive advantage isn't "who shows up in the AI answer."

It's "who can move as fast as the AI that recommended them."
