Working with your family is great... except when your son is the MD and he decides to brand you "The Chair Lady."

He told me that people would relate to it better than a company name no-one can pronounce, and yet again he was right...

I got involved with the company because he and I share a dream of helping to make the world a better place.

For him it's about making sure as many people have access to the healthcare they need, and for me it's about getting people out of social isolation.

Both come hand in hand. 👫

When COVID-19 hit we struggled, our classes closed and those we had helped support began to suffer more than ever.

The fear of COVID, the fear of falling and the chains of social isolation began to step in and someone had to step up to help. 😢

That's how the Chair Lady was born.

Supporting the Physical health of the community had always been our top priority, and we had done that through classes.

COVID forced us to evolve and take it online.

Imagine this, you're old, scared, cant leave your house and won't see people for months on end. 

Unless you do something your health is going to decline but you don't know what to do or where to turn. 🤔

You see a video on Facebook with some chair based exercises, or a charity drops a booklet through your door with a 60 year old women exercising, she's in a chair, she's got arthritis, and she understands your pain.

You give a few of the exercises a go, and to your surprise they help. 

You go to the Facebook page, and every single day the "Chair Lady" posts a new exercise for you to do at home. 

But it's more than just exercise. She makes you laugh.

Theirs the common saying that laughter is the best medicine, but they also say that if exercise was a pill it would be a miracle cure.

I say this "why not both?"

My role as Director is to keep the company on track and help as many people as possible, my role as the Chair Lady is to show the world that life doesn't stop at 60.

Negotium Networking - So You Can Be In Two Places At The Same Time.

Professional networking is just a fancy way of saying “I have people skills and know how to use them”…

…and I’m very good at networking. Well, better than most.

Relationship building is in my blood, I love meeting new people, learning about who they are, what their story is, and how I can make their day a little bit better. ❤

That’s not changed, just the context.

Negotium enabled me to forge strong relationships and open doors that others don’t know how to, and the people I met changed my life for the better.

A good personal trainer has to be a good networker… A lesson I taught my son whose journey has gone the opposite way to mine but that’s another story. 😉

As the Chair Lady, people come to me with problems.

Your joints ache? You’ve had a joint replacement? Back pain? 

Great I can help you, but that’s where my ability to help would have ended...

...except, I’ve spent my entire professional life networking, and have a whole black book of people to call on.

When someone in my care needs help from another professional I’m able to signpost them to the right person or service.

For example, the reason I love what I do is that it enables me to get vulnerable people out of social isolation, and part of that is helping them develop the confidence to join a safe, friendly group where they can meet others like themselves and have a cup of tea. ☕

Negotium allowed me to hone my networking, being the Chair Lady allows me to use that network to help others live a better quality of life.

Business development and becoming the Chair Lady don’t sound like they come hand in hand, but they do.

Get this, most of my job is based around building lasting relationships. 😎

That’s basically business development in a nutshell.

When you work in bus-dev your role is to grow the business and befriend other professionals to forge meaningful partnerships and expand your business. 

But as the Chair Lady it’s the same skills, only now you’re building relationships with charities, community groups and regular people.

A good bus-dev professional can:

🗝 Listen To The Needs Of Others, and

🗝 Offer A Solution To Their Problems…

Guess what the core skills of a personal trainer are?

Yep, exactly the same. Only this time instead of serving a company, you’re serving your community.

Listening to others, understanding their issues, and being able to support their needs makes me good at what I do. 🤯

All that’s happened is that I’ve traded financial wellbeing for physical wellbeing.

“I want to save for my future” has become “I want to walk up the stairs”.

Both important things, but now you get to see the results first hand and, share in peoples success.

If you had told me at the time that I would have helped a lady regain the use of her hands, I would have looked at you gone out.

But now that’s my crowning achievement. 👑

So you could say that as the Chair Lady I’ve just traded bus-dev for phys-dev.

When driving hundreds of miles each day to far flung areas of the UK you find that despite the location peoples problems remain the same.

How I accidently became an arthritis expert…

My name's Janette Town. Yeah, the “Chair Lady”... (like that's a title I wanted...)

Before I dedicated myself to helping people treat their arthritis naturally, I was a financial advisor. 

But now I am known all over the internet as the go-to woman for people who have tried everything else with no success, and now they want to FINALLY get rid of their arthritic pains for good.

Let me tell you a little bit about how I became this “Chair Lady” and how I can help you…

My son dragged me into this in 2019, despite me trying the usual excuses:

👉 “I’ve got arthritis”, and 

👉 “I’ve had both my knees replaced” …

…he just turned to me, smiled,  and said “So will most of your clients”.

So, I begrudgingly became a personal trainer… and found he was right.

The Bad News - I had never set foot in a gym in my life, and have the athletic ability of a snail.

The Good News -That puts me on par with most of the people I work with, and we can all hate the gym together.

When you have arthritis in your hands, knees and feet like myself, or have a joint replaced you dream of the little things.

You don’t care about running a 5k, getting out of bed is a victory in itself.

Imagine this:

🥇being able to open jars without assistance, 

🥇 not having to worry about falling, and 

🥇 waking up without feeling as stiff as a board. 

I know right, it’s almost too good to be true. 

Shockingly, it’s actually fairly easy to make this a reality.
 
When you have the Right Knowledge, and someone who understands your problems in Your Corner, managing your arthritis is almost child’s play.

❌ You don’t need a gym,

❌ running is out of the question, and

❌ it can all be done whilst watching repeats of midsummer murders.

Within 6 months of running classes:

✅ everyday tasks became easier.
