The data:

Here's Ramit Sethi's paycheck flow system:

Step 1: Paycheck lands in personal account
→ Each partner sees what they earned individually

Step 2: Auto-transfer to joint payment account
→ Both send agreed % (proportional or 50-50)
→ Pays: rent, utilities, groceries, childcare, joint bills

Step 3: Joint sends "no questions asked" money
→ €X to Partner A's checking (guilt-free spending)
→ €X to Partner B's checking (complete autonomy)
→ €Y to both individual savings (personal goals)

Step 4: Leftover = yours
Whatever remains after joint contribution = freedom money

50-50 or Proportional?

Use 50-50 when earnings are similar (within 20%)
Use proportional when one earns 2x+ more

Example proportional split:
He earns €6k/month, she earns €2k/month
He sends 75% (€2,250), she sends 25% (€750) to joint
