Some coaches hire a naming expert and get a list generated by ChatGPT. 

Here's what goes into building brand language that actually sells.
My process starts with a simple rule: No AI until the human work is done.
 
Generative AI is a powerful tool, but a terrible strategist. It can't understand nuance, hear the energy or excitement in your voice, or uncover metaphors you don't even know you use. That's my job.

Before any algorithm gets involved, I'm deep in the trenches with:

I. Recorded Calls 
I listen to your client calls to find hidden language that may resonate and connect.

II. Semantic Maps

I visually cluster your concepts to find the sweet spot between what you DO and what your clients NEED.

III. Brand Archetypes 
I align your name not just to your offer, but to your identity (Like Sage, Hero, and Rebel).

IV. Mouthboards

I'd like to coin a new word today — "blanding." 
That’s the combination of "branding" and "blending in."
It's what AI does so well.

Can AI make your messaging faster and easier?
Yes.
 
Does it make your language/brand unique and "ownable?"
It does not. 

AI can do many cool things, but it’s not built to MAKE YOU STAND OUT. 

AI is built on averages. 
It studies what’s come before and predicts what’s likely to come next. 

That’s not branding, it's blending.
(C'mon, Help me out here. Let's all call is "blanding" from now on.) 

Ask AI to “Make my offer clear” and it WILL clean up your sentences. 
But it can’t see the gap between what you MEAN and what an audience HEARS. 

AI can handle grammar and punctuation — though it’s quite heavy handed with the em dash, isn't it? — but AI doesn’t do well with things that matter to your brand, like empathy and tension. 

No matter how many times you say, “Make this sound better,” AI can’t fix what it doesn’t understand. And that's the human element.

That’s why I don't worry when people say, “I’ll use AI for my positioning, branding, and naming.” 

AI can polish words. My process architects meaning.

I wrote an exploratory #OpenToWork post 7 months ago, then a formal post

Both are pinned to my profile, I will avoid repeating them here. I did a BS in physics & genetics, then NIH MSTP MD-PhD training at Mayo Clinic in a mix of #medicine, biomedical #science, clinical #research, clinical #informatics, and general healthcare #technology. I stayed for a postdoc in #AI/ #ML systems, all done with Critical Care Medicine & Anesthesiology. I pursued medical residency training and ended up in the #startup AI medical #device space. My scope of knowledge & skills is large, if you ask me as a blind first question "what am I looking for" then I know you are not really serious

Some of my work has been FDA approved and commercialized, I just took a look and my old h-index is about to roll over to 22, people are still citing my academic publications years later. The problem is pre-defined doctoral-level cross-discipline jobs do not really exist. People like to talk about hiring this mythical person who is a #physician, PhD level biomedical scientist, and  expert in clinical informatics plus AI/ML plus healthcare technology, but...

No job exists. However, if you are interested in changing this, please send me a DM to chat. I will be very blunt after such a long search and say I find chats with HR marketing-recruiters extremely unproductive, if you do not understand advanced science and medicine we cannot communicate, and despite the hype, keyword aligning resumes with job descriptions through ATS software is probably the worst way in the world to recruit real talent

Many people do not like my "non-professional" profile, but I brought great joy, creativity, and even global collaborations to Mayo Clinic as Managing Editor of their Diversity in Education Blog for 5 years. I found professional is often a weak excuse for lacking capacity for cognitive dissonance, and once again people who are confined in these ways will never be true #innovators

So the same is true here. You get to see as much as possible who I really am, not just some sterile and fake persona we both think you will like. As for how I can cover so many topics... yeah... my knowledge goes far beyond degrees

Lately, I’ve noticed that decisions, fanboy celebrations, and pseudo-partnerships are being made based on charisma and popular narratives rather than facts. 

Social media is a way for some to earn a living; the more inflammatory the content, the higher the engagement and paid subscriptions. 

Hypocrisy is not uncommon, and people often unknowingly pay for it.

And in healthcare, that’s not just careless; it’s a risk to patients, operations, and credibility.

We work in one of the most risk-averse, high-stakes industries; one misstep doesn’t just create a mess, it produces consequences that ripple through care teams, compliance, and trust.

This is why credibility and integrity matter.

Not just in the solution, but in the people behind it.

Partnerships only work when there’s honesty, transparency, and full disclosure. 

Without that, it’s not a partnership, it’s a gamble dressed up as innovation and provocation.

Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but some things should never go out of style, which is exactly why it’s time to bring back the little black dress and put due diligence front and center again.

I am grateful for the healthcare finance professionals from Deloitte, EY, and PwC that I worked with over the decades of my healthcare administration career.

They taught me a great deal, and performing due diligence was always a foundational element of our work (and it remains so today).

When did credibility become optional, and why are we pretending it doesn’t matter?
