Worked with several B2B SaaS clients to establish a technology strategy, grow the existing team, and manage the operating environment.

Worked with C-Suite partners at one client to grow technology team from 15 to 50, including management team, developers, QA, and DevOps. Managed a $5.5M budget while growing the team, and balanced within $500 after 9 months. During the same time, implemented changes to the On-boarding process to reduce time from 140 days to less than 60 days by working with Implementations to change process, tooling, and infrastructure to support the optimized process.

Implemented a Performance Tuning program for one client that yielded an 11%-86% performance improvement for core functions, while traffic grew ~25% during the same timeframe. Overall system errors were also reduced 70% during the program. A combination of API code, database code, and UI architecture was reviewed and improved instead of a more traditional "scale up" infrastructure approach.

Developed "due diligence reports" for multiple PE companies to evaluate technology and teams for potential B2B acquisitions. Compared prospects to existing portfolio companies, providing additional value-added insights from Interim CTO engagements to help guidance the acquisition decision. Evaluations included high-level strategic plans and estimates for growing teams to address cloud migrations, legacy technical debt, or other significant issues uncovered during the diligence phase.

Worked to create architectural strategies for application development (Application Architecture), integration technologies (Integration Architecture), and data technologies (Data Architecture and Information Architecture).

Evaluated technical solutions proposed by development teams to determine fitness and compliance with tactical and strategic direction.  I also created “position” papers representing strategic thinking for specific topics with analysis on best course of action for the technologies presented.
  
Defined product technical roadmaps for several product teams.  These roadmaps focused on high level strategic direction based on the products current positioning and a future “market” position in order to stay viable within the enterprise.

Senior Technical Specialist - Lead architect on several enterprise systems for Tenet Healthcare (>100,000 employees) and clinical data (>6,000,000 patient visits/year).  Systems were implemented in ASP.NET (1.0 – 3.5), SQL Server 2000 – 2005.

eCARE Product Architect – A care management system focused on providing Case Managers and other supporting personnel access to patient information.  Managed a team of 30 people mostly developers.  Led all architect, analysis and design efforts and implemented some portions of the system.

The eCARE system was the the focus of our continuous integration efforts.  Builds included both code and database schema.  Products were seamlessly deployed to 4 environments on various schedules.  Build and deployment processes provided information to work item tracking systems, automatically creating build reports for project managers.
Project was developed ahead of schedule (30 man-months) and under budget (33% under budget).

Principal Architect

Managed a development and testing datacenter with over 200 servers.  Created a plan and started implementing a virtual environment for project teams to make hardware irrelevant.  Optimized management processes and helped with physical reconfiguration of the datacenter.

Strategy yielded 10 leveraged database servers, leveraged distributed file system, virtualized DCs for 4 AD domains, and more than 20 leveraged virtual machine hosts running over 50 virtual servers.

Designed and helped implement a network architecture including:
  - rewiring of the primary cable plant
  - installation of VPN between 4 offices
  - design and implementation of corporate security policies, 
  - implementation of various changes to improve platform stability.  

Additionally implemented Network Load Balancing to cluster all production web applications to improve reliability and availability.

Spearheaded an initiative to move to Active Directory at a worldwide level and worked with third party vendors to begin the integration of their products with the corporate Active Directory.
