I realised my mission is to point to the truth that we are stronger, more capable, more resilient and more awesome than we think we are after my transformational journey walking the 3,000km Te Araroa Trail down the length of New Zealand and seeing all the other walkers achieving incredible things.

I work with women and men who:
·        have big goals or dreams but who doubt themselves and feel held back
·        are at a crossroads and need direction, support or a non-judgemental sounding board
·        struggle to shake the feeling they aren’t good enough or feel they need more confidence
·        feel they have lost themselves or are exhausted being someone they’re not

Based on a year of having my own life coach exploring the inside-out understanding of life, coupled with my own transformational experience in the New Zealand backcountry and healing from an emotionally abusive relationship, my clients come away from our conversations with:
·        a greater sense of clarity and control over their lives
·        peace of mind, more confidence and self-compassion, as well as feeling happier    
·        a renewed energy and spirit for forging a new direction and creating the life they want

I love nature and I love the challenge of seeing what is mentally and physically possible in spite of all the doubts and fears we might be feeling. The result is often that we can achieve more than we think.

My adventures include:

·        Walking the 3,000km Te Araroa Trail down the length of New Zealand – I’d put it off for three years thinking I wasn’t good enough to do it but in walking the trail I learnt I was enough already. I’m currently editing my book on my transformational journey.

·        Sailing around the coast of Great Britain in a small yacht with my now husband – he had 20 years sailing experience while I had 5 days but I learnt if I could sail around the coast of GB with virtually no experience then I could do anything from scratch.

·        Climbing 27 volcanoes – I had aimed to climb 40 by the age of 40 but I got stuck by my excuses and held back by my inner critic and that age milestone passed several years ago but I learnt to listen to the stories I was telling myself which is always the first step towards change. Now I’m just ticking them off as and when.

As Editor of PharmaTimes Magazine, Katrina was involved with the day-to-day running of the production process, everything from story selection and commissioning to flatplans, design, writing, subbing and proofing. Katrina also had a more strategic role, looking at the direction the magazine was going in, as well as liaising with both sales and marketing departments to ensure the product produced was well-rounded and aimed to meet the business needs. In this role, Katrina also facilitated and chaired webinars and provided sales support by way of an adviser to how potential clients could use PharmaTimes' many editorial channels to help promote their messages.

Magazine Editor, pharmaceutical/healthcare news and features

After a successful almost three years in the role of Senior Reporter, Katrina has been promoted to Assistant Editor at PharmaTimes Magazine. In this role, Katrina contributes to the editorial direction of the magazine and digital content. While continuing to write features and news, Katrina is also responsible for commissioning content, liaising with writers, and is involved with the production of the magazine. Katrina also has input into sales and marketing strategies and monitors the company's main Twitter account.

Assistant Editor, pharmaceutical/healthcare news, features and editing

In this role, Katrina researches and writes news and features about the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare sector for both the monthly PharmaTimes Magazine and daily PharmaTimes Online website. She interviews pharmaceutical industry executives and leading healthcare commentators and covers the areas of pharmaceutical marketing and sales, R&D and clinical, digital and social media, NHS, drug pricing and reimbursement and pharmaceutical business strategy. Katrina is also PharmaTimes' social media guru on Twitter and LinkedIn.

During this time, she also wrote a number of profiles after interviewing a variety of local celebrities and high level personnel in the arts and fashion world.

I believe there is an amazing awesomeness inside all of us just waiting to come out, if only we let it.

But often it’s stuck inside by our self-limiting beliefs, by the negative stories we tell ourselves that we’re not good enough or not worthy of success, by our fears & worries & by the expectations we place on ourselves & those we think society places on us. 
 
I’ve learnt that it doesn't have to be this way after:
•	Walking the 3,000km (1,864 mile) Te Araroa Trail down the length of New Zealand (more than 2,000km solo) 
•	Sailing around Great Britain with my partner in a 28-foot boat
•	Writing a book (yet to be published) on the Te Araroa Trail
•	Climbing 25 volcanoes
•	Surviving 8 years in an emotionally abusive relationship
•	Being self-employed as a freelance journalist  

I now write & speak about my adventures & about how we are stronger, more capable, more resilient & more amazing than we think we are. 

Adventure helped me deal with years of chronic self-doubt & self-worth, as well as the emotional fallout from emotional abuse. 

It taught me that self-belief & worth comes from within & that we are enough. 

It taught me that we are powerful; that we can overcome obstacles, rise up from failure & achieve what we initially thought was impossible.

I’ve seen it in myself. I’ve seen this in others. 

Through writing & public speaking, I share my insights from my adventures & my lived experience with the aim of empowering others to believe in themselves so they too can:
•	Overcome self-doubt 
•	Find their inner power & confidence
•	Own their awesomeness
•	Be the person they want to be
•	Achieve their impossible dreams

I've been on a writing retreat in north Devon the past week. 

Working on some bulk editing of my book on my experience walking the Te Araroa Trail down the length of New Zealand. 

It's been lovely having the space - I've ignored all emails. 

And I could get used to having someone cook my lunch and dinner every day and then also do the washing up! 

When I've not been writing I've stepped outdoors to feel the fresh air and see clarity. 

It's been a beautiful reflective exercise and I come away with things I hadn't expected. 

Two days left.

Other people can't make you feel anything. 

They can't make you feel stressed or inferior or affect your confidence - or even feel loved. 

That's because we're all in our own "bubbles", creating our own experiences of our life moment to moment from the tens of thousands of thoughts we have, most of which are subconscious. 

This is often called "separate realities" because we all are having different experiences (it's why some people like marmite and other people don't). 

We create our feelings, not other people. 

In other words, what we feel is the experience we have ourselves created from what we think about the other person, what we think about what they said or how they act, what we think about the situation and perhaps most importantly, what we think about ourselves.  

And what that means is we have the power. 

We have the power to choose how we feel by taking responsibility for our thought environment.

It's sort of revolutionary in a way. 

We haven't been taught this and as a result we live the wrong way round - from the outside. 

Instead of from the inside. 

It's why we're exhausted, burnt-out, stuck, and don't like ourselves. 

But there is another way to live. 

We can reclaim our power.

Monday mojo...

Our Ego Mind can be pretty loud and opinionated at times - and sometimes downright nasty. A real bully.

It likes to tell us all the things we can't do, backing it up with hundreds of seemingly perfectly logical reasons why. 

And what's really annoying is it tends to do this for the things we actually really want to do. The things that call to us. Our secret dreams. 

If we decide to listen to our Ego Mind, we're at risk of staying stuck, safe, small and unsatisfied. 

Imagine if van Gogh had heeded the thought that he couldn't paint?  

The thing is our Ego Mind doesn't know the truth of who we really are - strong, capable, resilient, awesome. Ultimate potential. 

When we see that truth - our truth before thought - when we do what we're called to in spite of our doubt, the Ego's persuasive skills don't hold as much power.  

That's where magic and freedom lie.

Excuses... you know what they're like. 

I'm too busy. I don't have the time. I don't have the money. I can't commit to that right now. I'm not ready. It will be too hard. I'm not brave enough.

And so it goes on. 

And those dreams we have? 

We put it off and put it off until it's dried up shriveled in a corner of our mind gathering cobwebs. 🕸️   

But the thing is the dream, the calling, it's still there - it doesn't go away. 

So just imagine what things might be like if you started and took one tiny little step today instead of putting your dream back in its box. 

Imagine what this time next year might be like if you did that.

How awesome could that be?

The work I do changes lives. It makes things possible.

Men can bake. 

Hubby made cupcakes for my birthday (although I iced them). 

And they are delish. 

Baking is not something to be ashamed of.

Just do what lights you up. 

The universe, in its special way, will thank you for it. 

And right now, my belly is thanking the cup cake gods.

If you have a dream or a goal it will likely require you doing something new or different. 

You'll need to step outside your comfort zone (and that can feel scary). 

Being willing to do that, but knowing you have the courage, resilience and ability to cope is you stepping into the next-level you. 

That's where the magic happens.

Back from a glorious - albeit cold - week in North Devon on a writing retreat. 

It was so nice to give myself that time to just focus on my book and me - forget about email, forget about social media, forget about admin and Christmas. (And eat a lot of cake!) 

There were five other people on the retreat, writing and editing their books. 

All on their own journeys. 

All feeling the calling and working on their dream. 

You could feel the collective creative energy. 

And in spite of the writers block and the down days we still kept at it, knowing this was something we had to do - because it was part of us. 

We wanted to make our dreams happen. 

This is exactly the premise of the Dream Clinic community - a community for women who have a calling, impossible goal or secret dream. 

It's a community for support, inspiration and motivation. A chance for a mindset reboot and the opportunity to meet other like-minded women who get it.

One of my favourite quotes. 

It's a reminder that growth is on the other side of our comfort zone. 

That if you want to stop feeling stuck, like you're not making progress or you want a change or to uplevel then often a little shift of doing something different is all you need.  

But that's easier said than done when we're stuck in our conditioned thinking. 

So, a more accurate version of this quote is...

If you always think what you've always thought, you'll always do what you've always done and you'll always get what you've always got. 

You see our reality and results are created by our thoughts - in other words, what we think about stuff.

Most of it is conditioned and subconscious. 

So, changing the thought, changes the actions which changes the results. 

It's all about perspective, and awareness is the first step.
