I help empower people to believe in themselves so that they can become the people they want to be and achieve their goals and dreams.

I realised my mission is to point to the truth that we are stronger, more capable, more resilient and more awesome than we think we are after my transformational journey walking the 3,000km Te Araroa Trail down the length of New Zealand and seeing all the other walkers achieving incredible things.

I work with women and men who:
·        have big goals or dreams but who doubt themselves and feel held back
·        are at a crossroads and need direction, support or a non-judgemental sounding board
·        struggle to shake the feeling they aren’t good enough or feel they need more confidence
·        feel they have lost themselves or are exhausted being someone they’re not

Based on a year of having my own life coach exploring the inside-out understanding of life, coupled with my own transformational experience in the New Zealand backcountry and healing from an emotionally abusive relationship, my clients come away from our conversations with:
·        a greater sense of clarity and control over their lives
·        peace of mind, more confidence and self-compassion, as well as feeling happier    
·        a renewed energy and spirit for forging a new direction and creating the life they want

As a freelance healthcare journalist and adventure travel writer, with 20 years’ journalism experience, I cover topics as diverse as outdoor adventure, the pharmaceutical industry, health, new medicines, scientific discoveries, chemistry, mental health and wellbeing, self-help and self-development.
 
My work has appeared in The Telegraph, Raconteur Reports in The Times, iNews, The British Medical Journal, Breathe Magazine, Men’s Fitness Magazine, Yachting Monthly, New Zealand Listener, North & South Magazine, New Zealand Wilderness Magazine, Outdoor Enthusiast, PharmaTimes Magazine, Pharmaphorum, Chemistry & Industry Magazine, and Chemistry World Magazine, among others.

I love nature and I love the challenge of seeing what is mentally and physically possible in spite of all the doubts and fears we might be feeling. The result is often that we can achieve more than we think.

My adventures include:

·        Walking the 3,000km Te Araroa Trail down the length of New Zealand – I’d put it off for three years thinking I wasn’t good enough to do it but in walking the trail I learnt I was enough already. I’m currently editing my book on my transformational journey.

·        Sailing around the coast of Great Britain in a small yacht with my now husband – he had 20 years sailing experience while I had 5 days but I learnt if I could sail around the coast of GB with virtually no experience then I could do anything from scratch.

·        Climbing 27 volcanoes – I had aimed to climb 40 by the age of 40 but I got stuck by my excuses and held back by my inner critic and that age milestone passed several years ago but I learnt to listen to the stories I was telling myself which is always the first step towards change. Now I’m just ticking them off as and when.

As Editor of PharmaTimes Magazine, Katrina was involved with the day-to-day running of the production process, everything from story selection and commissioning to flatplans, design, writing, subbing and proofing. Katrina also had a more strategic role, looking at the direction the magazine was going in, as well as liaising with both sales and marketing departments to ensure the product produced was well-rounded and aimed to meet the business needs. In this role, Katrina also facilitated and chaired webinars and provided sales support by way of an adviser to how potential clients could use PharmaTimes' many editorial channels to help promote their messages.

Magazine Editor, pharmaceutical/healthcare news and features

After a successful almost three years in the role of Senior Reporter, Katrina has been promoted to Assistant Editor at PharmaTimes Magazine. In this role, Katrina contributes to the editorial direction of the magazine and digital content. While continuing to write features and news, Katrina is also responsible for commissioning content, liaising with writers, and is involved with the production of the magazine. Katrina also has input into sales and marketing strategies and monitors the company's main Twitter account.

Assistant Editor, pharmaceutical/healthcare news, features and editing

In this role, Katrina researches and writes news and features about the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare sector for both the monthly PharmaTimes Magazine and daily PharmaTimes Online website. She interviews pharmaceutical industry executives and leading healthcare commentators and covers the areas of pharmaceutical marketing and sales, R&D and clinical, digital and social media, NHS, drug pricing and reimbursement and pharmaceutical business strategy. Katrina is also PharmaTimes' social media guru on Twitter and LinkedIn.

In her first job after completing her post-gradulate journalism diploma, Katrina worked at New Zealand's fourth largest daily newspaper, The Otago Daily Times. She cut her teeth reporting on the arts and fashion world as well as breaking news stories and meeting tight daily deadlines. During this time, she also wrote a number of profiles after interviewing a variety of local celebrities and high level personnel in the arts and fashion world.

I believe there is an amazing awesomeness inside all of us just waiting to come out, if only we let it.

But often it’s stuck inside by our self-limiting beliefs, by the negative stories we tell ourselves that we’re not good enough or not worthy of success, by our fears & worries & by the expectations we place on ourselves & those we think society places on us. 
 
I’ve learnt that it doesn't have to be this way after:
•	Walking the 3,000km (1,864 mile) Te Araroa Trail down the length of New Zealand (more than 2,000km solo) 
•	Sailing around Great Britain with my partner in a 28-foot boat
•	Writing a book (yet to be published) on the Te Araroa Trail
•	Climbing 25 volcanoes
•	Surviving 8 years in an emotionally abusive relationship
•	Being self-employed as a freelance journalist  

I now write & speak about my adventures & about how we are stronger, more capable, more resilient & more amazing than we think we are. 

Adventure helped me deal with years of chronic self-doubt & self-worth, as well as the emotional fallout from emotional abuse. 

It taught me that self-belief & worth comes from within & that we are enough. 

It taught me that we are powerful; that we can overcome obstacles, rise up from failure & achieve what we initially thought was impossible.

I’ve seen it in myself. I’ve seen this in others. 

Through writing & public speaking, I share my insights from my adventures & my lived experience with the aim of empowering others to believe in themselves so they too can:
•	Overcome self-doubt 
•	Find their inner power & confidence
•	Own their awesomeness
•	Be the person they want to be
•	Achieve their impossible dreams
