The choice isn’t about one being “better.”
It’s about what your business needs most right now.

I paid $5,000 to learn from Alex Hormozi in Las Vegas.

When I started Simply Scale my focus was…
→ Land clients
→ Deliver the work

It worked.
Hey! I had a "business"!

But then came the hard truth…
What happens if I take a week off?

Well... idk but I booked a trip anyways.

Ohhhh... that's what happens.
I stop making money.
Problems happen that can't be fixed.
Clients get made of delayed support.

I didn't have a "business".
I had a high-paying job.

Enter 2025.
The era of scale.
Most difficult part of the journey so far.

→ Hiring people
→ Delegating tasks
→ Learning to manage
→ Seeing mistakes happen I didn't cause

Freaking hard to handle.
But it's the only way.

What I learned from Alex Hormozi was a little something called
"KEY MAN RISK".

Basically just meant if I left the business...
It would fall apart.
Which = nobody wants to buy that.

Which is good to know but also for now...
It's great to just be able to take days off 😅

All to say it's been a fun ride this year building a team.

Salesforce is a lot like learning a new language.

It won't work if Michael in marketing and Susan in sales can't agree on when to call it a "lead".

Don't blame it on the automation.
It's your team's poor communication.

My business has made over $1 million.

Here’s every idea I tried before my big win:

1. In 4th grade, my friend Alvin and I made Post-it flip books.
 He drew, I sold. We made $15 total before Alvin quit to play foursquare.

2. In high school, I worked at a movie theater and a mall phone case store.
 Learned how to sell and that customer service matters.

3. From 18–20, I lived like a monk on a church mission in Houston.
 No TV. No phone. Only talked to family twice a year.
 Had to learn Spanish, teach in Spanish, and go to church in Spanish.
 Learned consistency and purpose.

4. Came home and went door-to-door selling home theater systems.
 Got a $300 soliciting ticket my first week. That business ended fast.

5. Started a car wrap business called Skinnie.Dip (terrible name for SEO).
Leased a shop, hired employees, marketed on Instagram. Started in my cousin's garage and eventually leased my own shop. Made $24,000 a year while working full-time elsewhere.

6. Decided to pivot & learn a tech skill... Salesforce.
Landed a job in tech, spent late nights studying, and started posting tutorials on YouTube. Learned that teaching what you learn online can change your career fast.

7. My wife and I saved money and bought a small Airbnb.
 Some wild tenants, but it became great side income.

8. My wife loved the idea so much we tried to get another Airbnb, this time in a tourist spot. We flew to Michigan, met with a realtor, and found one we loved.
But it would’ve used all our savings for the down payment.
We hesitated. The property sold.
Lesson: plan ahead so you don't get spooked by emotions.

9. During COVID, everyone was day trading.
 I skipped that and exercised my stock options instead.
 The company got acquired & that payout went straight into an index fund.

10. Got caught in the NFT hype.
Bought a $1,500 ape NFT that went to zero.
Skipped buying Bored Apes at $3,000… those later sold for millions.

11. Built a 50,000-follower audience on LinkedIn.
Launched a 6-week cohort teaching personal branding for $1,500.
A few people bought, one asked for a refund. I gave it. Overall... semi-successful.

12. Offered 45-min 1:1 calls on how to grow on LinkedIn.
Made about $5,000 in 6 months and got all 5 star reviews.

13. Tried building a TikTok channel that sold an ebook of stoic wallpapers.
Paid $60 for an AI tool and never made the videos.

14. Started a Salesforce newsletter teaching others how to break into the industry. Grew it to 6,000 subscribers but never monetized.

15. Turned the newsletter into a Salesforce course.
Made $20,000 in total.

Then @ 28, I started Simply Scale.  The company I still run today at 31.
We help tech businesses grow by automating Salesforce. Small, remote, U.S.-based team. Still early but this one has been the most fun to figure out so far

Too many companies hire an admin thinking they'll magically fix everything.

But the system’s a mess.
No strategy. No documentation. No clear direction.

What ends up happening?

That new hire spends the first 3 months guessing what you need.
Building in circles.
Making things worse.

Salesforce isn’t plug-n-play.
It’s not “buy it and it works.”

It needs to be designed for:
• Your business.
• Your goals.
• Your future.

And unless you already know how to do that...
You need someone who does.

An experienced consultant doesn’t just click buttons.
They map out the architecture.
They help you think long-term.
They turn Salesforce into an asset instead of a headache.

Once the foundation’s in place?
Then bring in the admin.

But don’t make them build the house 𝘢𝘯𝘥 figure out the blueprint.

Companies: Why aren't people using our Salesforce?

What it's like to use their salesforce...

"Salesforce is broken”

I’ve seen this pattern in almost every company that says this.

The problem isn’t Salesforce.
It’s how it’s set up & how people think about it.

Salesforce only works when three things align:
People, process, and platform.

If your process isn’t clear,
your team won’t use the system.

If your people aren’t trained,
your data won’t be clean.

And if your system isn’t built around how your business actually works...
you’ll never trust what it’s telling you.

Most companies skip straight to the tech.
Then wonder why they don’t see results.

Salesforce isn’t the issue.
It’s the mirror.
It shows you exactly how organized (or disorganized) your business really is.

Fix the setup.
Trust the system.
Grow faster.

Employees: Who's gonna handle Salesforce?

Companies: Just let Jake from marketing do it.

Salesforce adoption isn’t about more training. 

It’s about making the system easy to use. 

If reps aren’t logging data, ask yourself:

- Too many clicks for basic tasks?
- Entering info that doesn’t matter?
- Switching between too many screens?

Make it easy, and they’ll use it.

Fix the system, not the training.

Salesforce Consulting changed my life.

But I was completely clueless when I was just getting started.

If I were to go back and become my mentor, here are 10 lessons I'd make sure I learn:

→ Nothing will help you more than helping other people
→ Learn copywriting and how to market your skills
→ Overcommunicate everything with your clients
→ Forget and Forgive people for minor mishaps
→ Document your entire journey on LinkedIn
→ Never hesitate while investing in yourself
→ Underpromise and Overdeliver. Always.
→ Learn to say "No" when necessary
→ Take every setback on the chin
→ Don't be afraid to ask for help

What'd I miss?

Not every Salesforce win takes months.

Some only take hours.

Here are 2 “quick fixes” that give immediate benefits:

1) Lead Assignment Rules
• Route new leads to the right rep instantly
• No more leads dying in a shared inbox

2) Web-to-Lead Automation
• Capture leads directly from your website
• Trigger an immediate follow up while they’re still in buying mode

Why it matters:

• Faster response times = higher close rates
• Reps stop wasting time manually sorting
• Leadership gets visibility into every new lead

Sometimes the bigger revenue gains
Come from the smaller Salesforce changes

Nobody cares about your fancy automations. 

They care whether it:

→ Saves them time
→ Helps them find their leads 
→ Actually works when they need it 

Keep it simple. 
Focus on their wins.
Not your tech wizardry.

Everyone has a Jake from Marketing.

Smart.
Helpful.
Knows “just enough” about Salesforce to be dangerous.

Then six months later…

Nothing works.
Reports are broken.
And everyone’s afraid to touch anything.

For the sanity of everyone at the company...
