NotebookLM’s new video overview is awesome.
But 50%+ of the scenes are static, so I found a fix.

Google’s NotebookLM is my favorite AI tool.
Yesterday it launched Cinematic Video Overviews.
It’s a huge upgrade from the previous overviews,
which only generates templated "talking slides".

Now, you can prompt proper videos in 3 steps: 
Documents → one click/prompt → 5-minute video.
And wow, it worked smoothly!

But after generating over 10 videos and watching
what others shared, I saw a problem:

most scenes are still static images.

It’s definitely possible to get a 100% animated story,
but I understand it costs a lot more.

Is there a low-cost solution or a simple fix?

Yes, here’s my process using a combination of
cheap AI video models and Claude Code.

1. Record a 30-minute speech about the topic.
2. Generate a video from the transcript on NotebookLM.
3. Use Claude Code to extract the long static frames.
4. Generate videos from the frames using a low-cost
AI video model (I used Kling v2.1 and Seedance 2.0).
5. Ask Claude Code to assemble a new video.
6. Use Claude Code to add captions.

I could have used Seedance 2.0 for everything, 
but it only generated a few new clips (long queue).

The full process is automated, with my oversight.
No manual edits were made to the video.

Bear in mind this is just a low-cost experiment 
with an outcome far from perfect.

It’s totally feasible to produce high-quality educational 
content using AI videos, with more creativity, 
effort, and oversight.

NotebookLM has changed e-learning forever, but 
it proves we shouldn't settle for 1-click automation. 

The real magic happens the moment 
you step away from the default.
