I won't sugarcoat it - that used to bloody suck.

I used to try all sorts of things:

▪ Drinking coffee right before it and then being wired till 4am, making my next work day torture
▪ Going to bed at 8pm and waking up at 11:50pm to quickly pop on the call
▪ Hell, I even tried having a few late beers to "take the edge off"

Mental, the things we do.

Properly lost it watching our copywriter destroy a room full of strangers.

But while most agencies would panic about their writer doing stand-up, we're at the back cheering like idiots.

Here's what they don't get:

1. His comedy timing is why his hooks hit different
2. Bombing on stage is why he's fearless with content

Steven Bartlett and George Heaton kept saying it on that podcast - invest in your people's whole life, not just their output.

Dead right.

Most companies hire employees and wonder why the work sounds robotic.
