When it comes to learning, many corporations just check the boxes blindly.

Last Friday, I taught a group of corporate bankers.

It was my usual spiel:

💰 Why posting on LinkedIn can raise your reputation and increase buy-in, internally and externally

💰 What you can do to overcome your fear of attention and inhibitions that hold you back

💰 How you can start building a Content 365 system that allows you to show up...

Authentically and effectively.

But there's always one missing link.


Leadership from inside. 

A lot of times corporate programs are designed and even, delivered with the best of intentions.

But there are so many reasons why learning programs fail:

❌ It's organized poorly with no internal set-up and competing with other business priorities

❌ It's not in sync with the organization, team and leadership's goals and desired outcomes

❌ The leaders think it's a "good program to run" but they don't show up or champion it.

Good monies spent. But little to no results or follow-through.  😔


Last Friday, I was inspired.

Together with Paul Kan 简毅辉 , Country Head, Business Banking Singapore at UOB Singapore and his learning leads, Adrian Yan and Michelle Liang, we conducted a 1-day program for their front and middle office A-teams.

I shared with their leaders to build your personal brand and be #topofmind in their industry. 🏆

At the end of the program, I was surprised.

Paul stood forward and rallied everyone with his intention behind building activity on LinkedIn. 

He got everyone to do the fundamentals of adding each other on the platform to even, setting the goal of their first post (some of them, 1st post in years!!) on LinkedIn. 

Over the weekend, we saw over a dozen posts coming through - some getting over 10-25x engagement increase and conversations! 🎁

The energy was just palpable and inspiring.

Through your work, they have found their voices and make their impact felt and realized. 

🍀 You haven't gotten it all right. 

But in Chinese wisdom, they'd say (三十而立，四十而不惑 - you find your footing in your 30s and live without doubt in your 40s). 

Most importantly, you still remain in search of what matters to you.

Who said you need to have it all figured out by 30, 40, or even 50?

Seriously, who made the rules?


It’s easy to feel like you’re falling behind.

You scroll through LinkedIn, and it seems like everyone is crushing it.

Fancy titles, dream jobs, and picture-perfect lives.

And then there’s you... still figuring things out.

Here’s something I’ve learned:

👉 Life isn’t a race. 
💡 It’s a journey, and everyone’s path looks different.

Take Colonel Sanders, for example.
At 30, he was fired from multiple jobs and failed at several businesses.
At 40, he was running a gas station and selling chicken on the side.
At 65, with just $105 in his pocket, he started franchising Kentucky Fried Chicken.
By 75, KFC was a global empire.

Or Oprah Winfrey.
At 23, she was removed from her news reporter job for being "too emotional" for hard news.
At 29, she became the host of a local talk show, immediately making it a local hit.
At 32, she had launched The Oprah Winfrey Show,
By 40: she was one of the most influential and successful media personalities in the world.

And let’s not forget J.K. Rowling.
At 30, she was a single mother living on welfare, struggling to make ends meet.
At 31, she finished writing Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
At 32, she faced rejection from 12 publishers before Bloomsbury finally accepted her manuscript.
By 35, she had become one of the most successful authors in the world.

These stories aren’t exceptions.

They’re proof that success doesn’t follow a universal timeline.

Reminders that your timeline is yours alone.

So, if you’re feeling “behind,” here’s what I want you to remember:
✅ Stop comparing your Chapter 3 to someone else’s Chapter 20.

You don’t know the struggles they faced to get there.

✅ Focus on progress, not perfection. 

Small, consistent steps compound into big wins over time.

✅ Celebrate your own milestones. 

Whether it’s learning a new skill, overcoming a fear, or simply showing up.
Every step forward matters.

You’re not late.
You’re not failing.
You’re simply on your own timeline.

And that’s exactly where you’re meant to be.

Have you ever felt like you’re wearing someone else’s shoes?

In the early days of my career, I was obsessed.

I was so focused on being like them that I forgot to ask myself:

For me, my truth was this:

I used to be bullied.

The biggest barrier to your success isn't lack of experience ❌

For 10 years, I was a victim of bullying at my boys' school. 

It crushed me, but it also taught me something that changed my life forever.

I used to think leadership was about teaching skills.

Until I realized, I had it all wrong.

I thought I was helping people by showing them HOW.
→ How to close a deal.
→ How to follow a process.
→ How to use the latest tools.

For years, I believed mastering these was enough.

Success comes with a price. 

The question is, are you PAYING attention to it?

Years ago, I was chasing success with everything I had. 

I worked long hours, 
said yes to every opportunity, 
and pushed myself to the limit. 

On the outside, it looked like I was thriving. 

But on the inside? 

I was exhausted.

I told myself this was the price of success. 

Sleepless nights, constant pressure, and sacrifices were all part of it.

Here’s what I’ve learned about the emotional cost of success:
1️⃣ Success without alignment feels hollow.
→ If your goals don’t match your values, it won’t feel fulfilling.
→ I had to redefine success for myself. It’s no longer about external validation. 
→ It’s about creating impact and staying true to who I am.

2️⃣ Rejection and failure are part of the process.
→ I’ve been told “no” more times than I can count. 
→ But every “no” taught me something valuable.
→ Every failure shaped me into who I am today.

3️⃣ You can’t pour from an empty cup.
→ Burnout isn’t a badge of honor. 
→ It’s a warning sign. I learned (the hard way) that taking care of myself isn’t selfish. 
→ It’s necessary to keep going.

Today, my definition of success looks very different. 

It’s about balance.
It’s about fulfillment.
It’s about showing up for the people and things that matter most.

So, let me ask you:

"𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙥𝙪𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙣?"

I asked the leaders of Asia's safest bank last week during a personal branding program I taught. 

One of them asked,

"Ben, I am quite introverted. Will this be too "loud" for me to share online?"

I also shared this during an interview with the The Straits Times 

We are telling ourselves stories all the time.

And we end up creating the lives we believe we are deserving of.

What do I mean?

Here's my life stories in snippets:

🤦🏻‍♂️ Got bullied in boys' school for a good decade
🤦🏻‍♂️ Social awkward and never played well in groups
🤦🏻‍♂️ Did well to study Accountancy at Singapore Management University but graduated with a sub-3 GPA
🤦🏻‍♂️ Had an offer to a Big-4 firm but turned it down to do sales
🤦🏻‍♂️ Made 5-figure months as a young graduate and quit prematurely
🤦🏻‍♂️ Zero corporate working experience 

Over the years, I realize there are useful and disempowering beliefs.

For example, many people think introverts are innately "disadvantaged".
⌙ we are quieter, "shy-er", "not loud enough", "not the life of parties".

They then, put themselves in a "prison" and limit what they can do. And who they can be. 

But I choose to embrace useful beliefs.

As an introvert, I'm able to:
🎁 Be more introspective and reflective than the normal
🎁 Learn to observe and engage meaningfully
🎁 Read the room and know how to be more efficient
🎁 Tell my stories well online and offline
🎁 Create curiosity about my work by talking less and when it matters
🎁 Analyze and go deeper in my value delivery (instead of being a superficial entertainer)

With these "superpowers", I've built a brand that sold me upwards of $4M SGD in corporate services and taught over 65,000 leaders in 20+ cities (like Chicago, Sydney, Tokyo, Riyadh and more) and helped build many successful icons in the financial services industry (TOT, Award Winners, Multi Million Dollar Agency Leaders and more). Be on media over 90x, published a book etc.

You can do whatever you want if you choose possibilities and useful belief.

But you'll end up living a much more constricted life if you put yourself in a prison with disempowering beliefs.

The choice is always in your hands.

My answer to this million dollar question -

"How do I stay consistent on social media?"


When your work (or even, survival) thrives on you being on.

And being effective at that.

After coaching over 65,000 leaders in 20+ cities globally in communications and brand building, I can tell you for a certainty:

Most leaders and learners don't stay consistent at social media to reap the value that it can offer.
(Well, even some coaches and trainers too)


Yes, life gets in the way.

And you should be present with your loved ones in certain seasons of your life.

But what builds conviction behind social media activity?


It is when these factors occur:

✅ An overwhelming belief that social media can drive the success of your work
✅ Systems and processes that enable you to stay in "creation mode"
✅ It's already a part of your identity to create and share
✅ You're in an environment that supports and celebrates you doing so

For me, it was a simple (and ugly) Youtube video that landed a corporate client for me.
(I knew, because I asked them how they discovered me) 

The billings over the past years from this one client alone?

>$900+k SGD.

And I know that if I'm efficient and effective at social, business will come.

Do comments like this, hurt you?


A Japanese expat in Singapore posted on Tiktok:

"Things nobody tells you about living in Singapore." 
⌙ Singapore is "less of a country to play in and more of a country to make money in"
⌙ Many foreigners end up leaving Singapore after a few years because they find it boring

This reminded me when I was working in Tokyo. 

While it was fun to check out the Shibuya crossing or binge on Famichiki and 7-11 Tamago sandos, the reality was:
⌙ Squeezing in their morning subway trains like a salaryman
⌙ Observing how the locals seem to look frenetic, stressed and tired
And the after-work drinking parties (nomikai - 飲み会) with interesting sights on the streets.

My local Japanese friends shared similar sentiments:

"We have to make a living in Tokyo so things are like that. We've no choice." 
(with a heavy shrug)


So what's the point here?

There's always a lived reality that can only be learnt as a true inhabitant of the city.

My quick thoughts are:

#1/ You're not wrong. Singapore is engineered for socio-economic opportunities and mobility. 

I'd be worried (as a local) when our city becomes no longer viable. And it means I've to uproot myself or my family to seek growth elsewhere.

#2/ Boring and sterile? Yeah, maybe.

Clarke Quay used to be thing when I was growing up. But now I know night life in Singapore is muted. I guess it depends on your willingness to seek out activities? I've been seeing numerous ads on founders run clubs, Hyrox 🤣, tea parties and more. 

#3/ Learn to step out and mingle 

There are many locals who are Japanese enthusiasts. Maybe take the effort to also reach out and make new friends, both expats and locals. 

The beauty is that our openness also allows for a melting pot of global cultures and people. I was treated to a delightful Idiyappam and dhal by a Sri Lankan friend recently.

I won't sugar-coat things to suggest Singapore is vibrant or diverse as in Central Asia, China, the States or Europe.

But I'd highly recommend you to seek out fun and new experiences.

Or book a ticket out to greater Southeast Asia!

We always have choices and those are blessings in itself, already.  💙

My Gen-Z mentee asked me.


Well, as a business owner myself, I say it can be a difficult conversation.

But it doesn't have to be. 

This happened 2 years ago where my mentee felt that she has outgrown her role and environment. 

😔 There was little support or engagement from her direct line manager
😔 The work has become routine and monotonous 
😔 Her colleagues were also much more senior than her and were running in silos

So when she had an offer, she knew she had to make a jump.


But we realized her industry was a small one and it's wise not to burn bridges, isn't it? Also, her boss was mostly supportive (and had challenges beyond him). 

So this was the 'quitting framework' I shared that she used to good effect. 

The result?

Her boss is still in great relationship with her and has even recommended opportunities even after my mentee left.


Perhaps more so for the Gen-Zs who are quiet or rage quitting...

Quitting well is respectful and maturity on your part. 

Why burn the bridges when you can still maintain goodwill?

It's not an open secret. 🤫

Business-to-consumer (B2C) businesses and leaders often have it rougher.

Their customers get irate and air their frustrations out loud. 🤬🤬

They get personal and conversations are ugly and triggering.

So it's no wonder most leaders tend to stay off social media.


But Adam has been a 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘵 in communications. 🎁

Having been on Instagram for the past years, I've seen how Adam has been showing up consistently on platform doing Q&As over the past years.

Every time there are major changes to the platform, he's prompt to also dive into the problem(s), repercussions, solutions and next steps.

Here's one where he's addressing a remark from an Instagram user. 


Here's what business leaders can learn from Adam:

#1/ 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 >>> 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱

Far too many CEOs hide behind perfectly-varnished scripts and conversations. So much so it sounds scripted (duh), orchestrated and detached from reality.

Of course, there are risks and downsides. But those can be learned!

#2/ 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺. 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰.

OG instagram users would yearn for the platform to be like it was back then - simple photo feed, healthy engagement driven by social graphs.

But these days, the playbook and algorithm has evolved to ensure it remains competitive.

And Adam was just firm and cool, about it.

#3/ 𝗗𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 "𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁" 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 "𝘄𝗵𝘆" 𝘁𝗼𝗼.

Your customers may not always "agree" with your business stances and decisions. 

But Adam often makes it a point to share the rationale and consequences of certain evolutions to the platform.

Even towards customer with frustration and demands, he also responds with tact, firmness and kindness. 

#4/ 𝗕𝗢𝗡𝗨𝗦 - 𝗕𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝘁 

Adam recognizes that his and his management team may not always get it right. 

Instead of adopting a "holier-than-thou" stance or worse, "if you don't like this, many others do!"

Customers and companies share a symbiotic relationship. And the downfall of companies and management is when they stop listening.

And be all arrogant and heavy-handed.

So many say "LinkedIn is cringe" 🤮

In a heartbeat, I'll agree.. 


𝘖𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘱𝘰𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘺. 

You don't:
⌙ Nurture your network to create an "online space of goodness and value" 
⌙ Curate your personal feed for relevant content that inspires and educates you 
⌙ Leverage social media to share 'media' that expresses you AND 'socialize' with good people

And then you wonder why you only see the lame and cringe and memes (okay, some are good tbh) 🤔


Most so, LinkedIn for me has been a groundswell of kindness and empowerment. 🎁

Over a decade back, I ran my first learning event to empower young graduates and business owners on the power of LinkedIn. 

Atul Harkisanka said "yes" to me in a heartbeat and we ran a full-house event.

When I wanted to host Julius Bieliauskas and Ratna Juita for a sold-out LinkedIn charity learning event last April (2024), my dear friend of close to 2 decades - Lena Chang agreed to me in an instant.

What began in 2020 as a small virtual session for ideas exchanges.

It has now grown into 10 Charity Coffee Chats, raising a total of $62,259 (with dollar-to-dollar match) over 5 years.

This year I had the honour and pleasure of inviting a fellow Top of the Table qualifier Nathan Tan to join us in this year's Charity Coffee Chat.

On 10th October, within just 2 hours, both of us answered more than 60 questions from over 70 participants.

It was authentic, unfiltered, and 100% from our hearts

Within 2 hours, we raised $4,380 for charity. ❤️

💝 $820 was donated directly to SPD, supporting persons with disabilities.
(due to my dad's condition).

 💝 The remaining $1,780, matched dollar-for-dollar by Prudential Assurance Company Singapore, became $3,560 for the Prudential Longevity Pledge (PLP).

These donations are then managed by Community Chest, helping individuals in our community live well for longer.

These contributions fuel:

 👶 Healthy with KidSTART: 
Giving children from low-income families a healthy start in life.

 👴 Seniors’ Wellbeing Masterclass: 
Empowering seniors through arts, nutrition, and technology.

And beyond the funds raised, it was the questions that truly made the 2 hour session meaningful.

I thought I was there to teach 🇰🇭

But Cambodia taught me more lessons that I had ever imagined.

Honoured to be invited by Prudential (Cambodia) Life Assurance and Robert Chitty to conduct two workshops in Phnom Penh.

I flew in on Saturday afternoon and caught up with the corporate team for their authentic local cuisine. 

Next morning, I arrived to their office at 9am sharp.

All the participants looked all set and so eager to learn.

 🧭 1.5 hours of Sales Mastery

 💼 2 hours of Leadership Training

This happened on yesterday, which was a Sunday.

While most of us treat Sunday as our rest day, this hungry learners showed up at 9am sharp and stayed till 5pm.

Now add this complex layer:

Everything I said had to be translated sentence by sentence into Khmer.

It meant double the concentrated focus and double the patience especially for them.

Yet by 5pm, the energy in the room was still soaring.

No one checked out.  No one complained.

What I saw in them was pure hunger to learn and transform themselves.

That’s when it truly hit me like a flash on screen:

"As a leader we can teach skills but we cannot teach hunger."

Hunger doesn’t need a language.

🌏 And this is most people still get wrong about Cambodia:

1️⃣ “It’s a cheap, third-world country.”

I was shocked at the listed prices in USD. 

 My %Arabica latte costs USD 4 (~ SGD 5.20).

A Burger King Whopper meal costs USD 9 (~ SGD 11.60).

For professional earning USD 500–1,000 a month, that same latte costs 4 to 8 times more in real purchasing power as compared to Singapore.

For the lesser skilled locals earning USD 200–500 a month, that latte costs like SGD 30 in Singapore terms.

2️⃣ Cambodia must be so old and underdeveloped.

I must admit, I fell prey to this old stereotypical impression of Phnom Penh.

However when stepped foot into their newly opened Techo International Airport which opened just last month, I felt confused and disoriented.

I thought that I was still roaming around in Singapore's Jewel.

The new Techo International just opened last month. 

It looked so modern, sleek and world-class.

3️⃣ "There's not much happening there.”

Phnom Penh is buzzing.

On the way to the hotel, I saw big AEON Malls, luxury condos, global cafés.

There were so many chinese shops and eateries. 

Even the airport departure hall was playing Mandarin douyin 

It’s a city in motion.

But what truly struck me most wasn’t the skyline.

It was the local Cambodians - their 3H traits:

Humble. Hungry. Hardworking.

They reminded me that success doesn’t depend on comfort, but on commitment.

I hope this post helps debunk some myths about Cambodia.

I took our team offsite this week for a deep-dive into our Final Sprint strategies

As if the universe wanted to cheer us on, we even bumped into our Prudential CEO San San Chan 🤗 

For two focused hours, the spotlight wasn’t on me.

Instead we zoomed on each individual, identifying where they stand right now.

How far they are from their KPIs.

And the simplest and fastest way to close the gap.

That's because no matter whether you arein sales, strategy or the C-suite, the formula is the same:

📍 Status check: Where are you now?

 📉 Gap analysis: How far are you from your finish line?

 🚀 Strategic action: What’s the most effective route to get there?

Leadership isn’t about barking orders from the driver’s seat.

As a leader, I always see myself being the GPS.

Helping my team to navigate their own road, faster, clearer, and with fewer wrong turns.

The most powerful moment kicked in when I saw all motivated faces.

Watched each of them leave the meeting not with a to-do list, but with clarity, direction and belief.

💡 The final sprint isn’t a solo race. 

It’s a team relay and the baton is now firmly in their hands.

No matter what, both need one big thing in common.  

That is meticulous strategic planning.

Just over the weekend, I attended my good friend’s wedding in KL. 

The bride is also my sister Jaylyn Ng Gui Ying’s best friend. 

Watching her grow up from a student to now being Mrs Pang was heartwarming.

Families flew in from Australia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Friends and colleagues from Singapore filled the ballroom.

There were so many unconventional surprises for the wedding guests. 

Different stalls were set up including;

The old Mama-shop styled snacks stall;

Special gelato ice cream push cart; 

Instant Photobooth that gave out photos to guests; 

Scratch cards which saw guests winning limited edition Labubus; 

And even a specially designed McD-style goodie bags to let guests choose their own wedding snacks home. 

It was super joyful and yet meticulously planned wedding event. 

A true masterclass in planning.

But what moved me most was the love story between them.

The couple Catherine Lam and Joseph  
met online during Covid in 2021. 

When borders reopened, she flew to Australia. 

Only to discover he had been tested positive the day before.

Four years later, after countless flights and long-distance video calls, they finally said “I do.”

💍 A wedding is an event.

💞 A marriage is a commitment.

💸 And both require intentional planning be it emotionally and financially.

We spend months designing a perfect day, yet sometimes forget to design the decades that follow : 

How to protect our income so that we and our loved ones live with a peace of mind. 

How to convert our hard earned income into lifelong assets to spend more quality time with our family. 

How to build a freedom fund so we can start saying YES more to things we love and NO to things we dislike. 

Towards the end of the dinner, I noticed something beautiful.

Aunties in their 60s and 70s and toddlers barely three years old all went on stage to dance to the live band. 💃🕺


That to me was life in full circle —
from 

Baby → Student → Professional → Spouse → Parent → Retiree

Then back to pure joy in our golden retirement years. 

We spend our early years earning money,
and our later years chasing back time.

The wisest plan so they can do both with freedom.

Because weddings last a day but financial clarity if done right and early allows us to enjoy the joy that lasts a lifetime.

We live not just to survive the years ahead blindly. 

But to dance through all seasons of life.

A good friend "X" reached out to me this morning. 

He's in his early forties, a single dad, a sole breadwinner. 

When I returned his call, I got a shock.

He told me that he was just made redundant. 

At that moment, I could hear the inner fear in his voice. 

A mixture of shock, disbelief, and fear that every sole bread winner breadwinner dreads.

My heart broke a little.

Because I had been there before.

At both sides of the fence - the "nasty" HR who had to let people go.

As well as the employee being let go when I had only been employed for 3 months.

I know how it feels to stare at your bills, to see your kids asleep and wonder,

“What now?” 😰 

Within an hour, I reached out to my network.

All because this was my only way of rendering suport. 

I hope that he did not have to face this situation alone. 

With his consent, I’m sharing this post, anonymously.

X is a strategic leader who built Southeast Asia’s growth blueprint for his global organisation. 

He is the super networker who formed high-level partnerships and turned plans into results.

I always knew X as someone optimistic and cheerful.

But this morning he was sharing with me how hard the past two years had been for him.

In the midst of a divorce, sole breadwinner and now being made redundant.  

There's so much uncertainty and he seemed to be at the rock bottom of it.

And I replied him curtly (with pure good intention).

“It’s okay to be emotional for a while.

But being emotional now won’t solve the issue.

You still need to feed your kids, yourself, and pay for everything.

So let's focus on the present and the controllable now."

Sometimes, tough love is the most loving thing we can give as a friend.

I was honoured to be invited by IFPAS - INSURANCE AND FINANCIAL PRACTITIONERS ASSOCIATION OF SINGAPORE (OFFICIAL) to do a videoshoot. 

This time in the capacity of a Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioner graduate.

I received an email a few days ago prior to the shooting day.

There was a list of 5 questions. 

 I assumed (which was a bad habit) that I just had to pick one and prepare my answer.

So I prepped my response, just for the first question

 👉 “How has the FChFP benefited you as a financial practitioner?”

Then I arrived at the studio.

All ready for the filming and right after I had answered the first question, I thought I was done!

"Hey Jas, that was a great take and let's continue with the rest of the questions."

At that moment I was caught by surprise and admitted that I only had prepped for one question.

But it's okay, let's just go with the flow. 

Just pure on-the-go filming. 

One question after another.

It felt just like the Table Topics segment in Toastmasters. 

Daunting but interestingly that was when the real moment of truth came out. 

No polish or rehearsed lines. 

Just pure real sentiments.

There was simply no time for retakes as I needed to fetch my son from tuition class. 

The inner timer was counting down in my mind. 

When the shoot ended barely 15 minutes later, the crew said,

“We love working with you, Jas. You’re always so prompt and ready to go.”

This line stayed with me and it continues to be a stark reminder. 

Because readiness isn’t luck.

It's really built from showing up every single day, thinking on your feet, and speaking from the heart.

To me this is one of the biggest lessons I've learnt about human interactions.

Most people don’t need perfection in responses.

Instead what people value more is the authenticity and sincerity. 

That is really how I work with my clients too. 

No sugar-coating or polished statements to make them feel good.

Instead clients I serve need the raw moments of truth which requires some guts to tell them. 

I realise what these clients truly value is :

🎯 Clarity. 

🔥 Authenticity. 

🚀Ability to solve complex problems

When was the last time you made a promise to yourself?

When was the last time you did something that scared you?

 When was the last time you learnt something truly new?

When was the last time you felt proud of who you’re becoming?

When was the last time you were “too busy” to give up on an opportunity?

I started my keynote speech with these 5 questions.

Not to sound wise.

But to truly shake people out of their autopilot zone.

That's because the most dangerous place in life isn’t failure.

It's that comfort that makes you scared to even try something new.

It’s that drifting day after day, telling yourself you’re “busy”.

But only to realise years later that you have been standing in the same place. 

WITHOUT any growth at all.

And you still have to make peace with yourself that it's OKAY.


There are 84 days left to the end of 2025.

What you do with these remaining days can re-write your story for 2026.

It can either make you feel damn proud of yourself for pushing through to achieve the goal that you set at the start of 2025. 

Or it can make you feel smaller and smaller because you just broke the promise to yourself again.

In the past 9 months, here’s how I’ve chosen to use my time:

 🌍 Spoken at 16 different platforms (internationally and regionally)

 📚 Completed 11 courses which worked out to be one work month.

 ✈️ Spent over 2 months travelling for work and speaking engagements.

Yet I am still showing up daily as a financial consultant, leader, industry speaker, mother and daughter.

The way that I chose to overcome the most powerful principles I've ever learnt in psychological concept.

“Work expands to fill the time available for its completion.”

What it means is that people always procrastinate and leave it until the last minute close to deadline to complete the task, no matter how long they have.

So I decided to go with this flow but flipped the script instead.

I stuffed my calendar so tightly that there’s no space to overthink.

Many of us are often trapped in this question "Do or don't do".

 When time is short, action becomes non-negotiable.

💡 My second non-negotiable: Consistency.

 Repetition breeds mastery.
 Mastery breeds efficiency.
 Efficiency buys back time.

That’s why today, despite wearing multiple hats, I still sleep 8 hours a night (10 pm – 6 am), exercise an hour every morning, and still execute every role to a level I’m proud of.

 You don’t “find” time. You prioritise it.
 You don’t “get” mastery. You just repeat till mastery.
 You don’t “wait” for life to change. You build it. By choosing discomfort.

I was extremely touched to receive this Thank You email from Tum MEN.

"You contributed to your session despite having a stomachache and gave it all."

He is the Mastery Training Manager at Prudential (Cambodia) Life Assurance.

His thank you email brought me back to what happened two days ago in Prudential Cambodia office. 

Last Sunday, I was supposed to conduct a full-day workshop.

9:30am to 11.00am
1.5 hours of Sales Master Workshop

1:30pm to 3:30pm: 
2 hours of Leadership Training

It was one of those days which everything was perfectly planned, until something disruptive happened. 

Right after my first presentation, around 11am, I was suddenly hit by intense stomach spasms. 

Then for the next two hours, I found myself experiencing one of the worst intense pain. 

I hid in the toilet cubicle. 

Found myself in semi-conscious state, breaking out into cold sweat, trembling and barely able to stand. 

I held back calling for help because I did not want the rest to be worried about me. 

Afterall they should be attending their training.

Another reason was because I was afraid of being sent to the hospital and thereby missing my evening flight back home. 

I decided to just endure and adopt the most conventional way.

That was to let my body auto-purge out the contaminated food. 

Frankly those who had experienced food poisioning before would understand
how physically tormenting the pain could be. 

By 1.30pm, the pain and diarrhoea had subsided to a huge extent.

My next leadership session was due to start.

I had every reason to stay in my hotel room.

My fellow trainer Robert Chitty offered to step up and present on my behalf.

But to me, that was never an option.

There's a quote: 10% is what happens to us. 90% is how we react to it.

So I chose to still show up.

Despite feeling weak, but I wanted to be there to follow through my commitment to our Cambodian friends who turned up on a Sunday.

I had to do slight adjustment, to sit down instead of standing. 

At the end of the session, one participant asked:

 “Have you ever felt down or demoralised before?”

 I smiled because I think my presence that day said it all.

Yesterday I hosted a small intimate, and cosy Pickleball Private Client Event. 

The 2 hours were filled with laughter, and a little friendly competition. 

And perhaps a few surprisingly serious rallies.

My clients only had one job. 

It was to turn up at the event : 

✅ Pickle Courts were booked.

✅ Professional trainer engaged to teach.

✅ Complimentary paddles were given free to everyone.

✅ Refreshing drinks provided. 

✅ We wrapped up with a tournament.

The top teams walked away with shopping vouchers. 

But everyone left with something far better. 

The community grew closer with new friendships and connections established. 

Especially thankful to Theng Kiat Goh , who came as a participant but ended up being our part-time coach.

Paying TK a nominal fee would undermine his true value. 

The only way to match it? 

To journey with him and his family through every life milestone in financial planning. 😝

That truly made my day.

Over the weekend, we spent our Saturday building a precious memory/

One click at a time, literally.

Sounds interesting?

Some of our clients came in as a couple.

Some of them came in as parent-child pairs.

All came to roll up their sleeves to build something together.

Each of us built a keyboard that’s uniquely theirs.

At our Customised Keyboard Client Seminar, everyone got hands-on:

 🎨 Choosing the keyboard base (short or long with number pad)

 🎧 Testing their favourite “clicky” sound (red, green or yellow)

 🖌️ Picking a theme that matched their personality

Before Covid, I guess most of us never really cared what keyboard we used.

It was just part of the office desk.

Yet after Covid, we learnt to set up and replicate a conducive working space.

I've realised that the right keyboard isn’t just an accessory.

It is now an essential for focus and productivity.

Even the 'clicky' sound makes a big difference.

I myself benefitted from choosing the right keyboard. 

Since owning my customised keyboard, I’ve become more efficient, more mindful.

Honestly typing, (aka working) feels fun again.

The company whom we partnered Mash shared that we were the first insurance agency to host such a workshop.

And it’s not just us.

The customised keyboard trend is growing. 

Mash even had a full booth at the recent Comex Show, proof that custom keyboards are fast becoming part of modern work culture.

Before anyone left, the Mash staff even tested every single keyboard to ensure perfection.

And yes this post was typed using my newly customised colourful keyboard.

This marks our 7th client event of 2025. 

From yoga to CPF workshops, Enneagram personality, movie appreciation, pickleball, and now keyboards.

Because for us, it’s never just about insurance.

It's about creating meaningful quality time for them to spend with their loved ones, be it their partners or family.

Now with the completion of this keyboard workshop, I've can officially also say it's about creating experiences that "click" literally and emotionally.

When I moved from corporate HR into financial consulting, one thing hit me hard.

During corporate days, I used to give almost all my time and energy to company goals.

There would be numerous company and business unit target reviews. 

The day was usually packed with endless discussion and skype messages.

But when you’re running at that speed, it’s easy to forget the one thing that truly matters. 

That is your own life and family planning.

With whatever time and energy I had left, I would choose spend it with my kids to ease the mother’s guilt.

 Even on off-days, the dilemma was real: 

Self-Care or Pick the kids up earlier?

Most days, the mother’s guilt won.

The consolation I told myself was that "At least I’m doing my best as a mother.”

But what got quietly shelved often untouched for years was my own financial planning.

And I see this pattern repeated among many Senior Corporate Leaders today.

Just this week, I reviewed the portfolio of a corporate leader in his mid-fifties.

Let's call him James (pseudonym). 

He stared at one ancient policy in disbelief.

This was a plan bought in his 20s that still required payment until age 85.

The plan sum assured was $50,000, barely covering 2 months of his salary today.

After looking at my financial analysis I had performed, James looked at me and said,

“Jaslyn, this doesn’t make sense.”

I smiled and said:

“I know James; But my job is not to tell you what to do.

Rather it is to demonstrate the facts to you first. Only then you can make an informed decision on next steps."

That's because aswe grow older and busier, we stop reviewing.

I'm guilty of this too - we tend to avoid rocking the boat.

But the truth is perhaps that old boat isn’t even seaworthy anymore.

That plan once made sense has since outlived its original purpose.

Just like many habits we keep out of comfort, not effectiveness.

And that’s when it hit me again:

 👉 We don’t work hard because we love working.

 We work hard because we want to create the financial security our loved ones deserve.

Money is a means to an end not the end itself.

Yesterday, something simple yet deeply meaningful happened.

Out of the blue, my boss, mentor, and dear friend Jaslyn Ng Asia Insurance Agent of the Year said, “𝑴𝒂𝒚𝒃𝒆𝒍, 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖.” She handed me a Plaud Note, in the prettiest shade of pink. (Yes, I had to mention the colour because it was so pretty!)

It might have seemed like a small gift or even the many gifts she had given to me in the past 6 years, but it carried a big message. Three weeks ago, I had casually mentioned this device in our group chat and she remembered. She surprised me with it as a congratulatory gift for achieving my #MDRT this year.

What touched me most was not the gift itself, but the thoughtfulness behind it.

This past year has been one of my most difficult, both at work and personal. Yet through every up and down, Jaslyn has been that quiet, steady presence. The kind of mentor who does not always need to say much, but somehow, you just know she is there for you.

To me, that is the essence of true #leadership being strong for others, #believing in them even when they doubt themselves, and #celebrating their wins, big or small.

Sometimes, it is these unexpected gestures that remind us how meaningful mentorship and genuine leadership truly are.
